We are preparing our swarm boxes for the 2024 swarm season. See how we clean, bait and prepare our swarm boxes for deployment again this year. And see the installation of several that we've put up. We caught 10 swarms last year, so lets see how it goes this year. Fingers crossed!

We caught a swarm on 03/31/24 in the box that Roy sat on the roof of the shed. Our first swarm of 2024!!

Setting our traps out the coming weekend. I would like to say we leave ours on stands about 1.5 feet off the ground. Every trap caught last year. We find is less dangerous that way.

The books all say they should be between 10 - 14'. Roy spent years working from a ladder, so he doesn't mind using that 12' ladder to get them up. As we move away from the hive boxes, I believe we'll be putting them up closer to 8' off the ground. We caught a swarm last year on the roof of our shed - about 7' - and had 3 in a camelia bush. Wes over at Secure Acres is putting his about chest high, and he's catching swarms every time. Let us know how it goes for you. Thanks for watching!

I’m in Randolph county NC . Do yall build any of the layens swarm traps and hives to sell ?

We do not. We're trying to be retired. We found Dr. Leo's plans are very easy to follow, and we have a playlist of our build videos. The most time-consuming part is building the frames, but you can get those from Miller Bee Supply in Wilkesboro, NC now.
