Yeah, the “reliability” excuse can only go so far. I mean, the ranger raptor is around $57k and the frontier pro4x is way less than that. Sadly, Toyota is now selling cheap 4cyl cars (LC, Tacoma, new 4Runner, etc.) at a premium price.
@JokerG16
@JokerG16 2 месяца назад
yeah totally. the Frontier with the N/A V6 which ppl love and the Pro4x which can compete with the TRD Pro. and the Ranger Raptor is V6 turbo as well... not sure why Toyota didn't offer a 6cyl option, at least on the TRD models cuz $68k is absurd when the competition offers just as much for less. "reliability" excuse is old now.

@@josealeguinea you’re not crazy at all lol it’s just ppl these days are obsessed with HP/Torque figures and forget that Toyotas have never been known for speed, they’re known for durability. oddly enough, in the future, they may not even be known for durability anymore either with all the hybrid/tech crap they have going on. the 5th Gen 4Runner is like the best vehicle, and was perfected in the last couple yrs since they added all the tech and LED lights that ppl have complained about and still kept the huge V6.

@@imnotusingmyrealname4566 totally agree! they’re taking away their beloved engines and forcing induction on smaller displacements, but charging us a premium for some hybrid 4 cylinder. i remember back in the early 00s, they charged a premium for the V8 4Runner and the Camry V6. whomever is in charge of Toyota right now is deranged. and i too was shocked when i found out the Camry is about the same price

Hey Josh, off topic, but I was debating on whether I should get a rav4 prime xse vs nx350 hybrid premium. They come out to about the same price a since u’ve owned both, would love ur input. Ultimately I just want a comfy, quiet, everyday driver.
@joshjamescars
@joshjamescars 2 месяца назад
Hello! The Prime is great if you have a place to plug it in every night and can do at least 75% of your driving on EV range. The downside is that it’s expensive for the economy car interior. The NX has a much nicer interior but you probably know how I feel about the powertrain’s rather unrefined sound. Overall they’re both great picks and relative to Toyota’s new vehicles LIKE THIS TACOMA, I guess $45K is nothing these days so maybe the Rav Prime isn’t that overpriced. 😂 If you have the cash, what I would do is lease it to get the $6,500 lease cash and then immediately buy it out so you own it and immediately pay down as much as you can of the remaining balance (or all of it if you can) that way you aren’t paying the interest on the lease.

Yea, the pricing is absurd for it to still have what looks like $25k level interior materials. I know pricing is up across the board, but for a mid-level Tacoma to cost $45-50k is insane. It'll be interesting to see how they handle this because I don't think people who were snapping up Tacos before can afford these prices. Honda is doing the same, upping prices and decontenting. The new CR-V costs more yet has less features to the point that it's insulting. I feel people dog Nissan, but at least it seems they're not cutting feature content and upping the materials quality of their interiors to go along with the increases.
@joshjamescars
@joshjamescars 8 дней назад
I agree, although at $40K USD the CR-V seems cheap compared to some of its competitors. I also think the CR-V hybrid drives way better than a Rav hybrid and I’d take that over some features.

Leasing is never a great financial move though, it’s purely so someone can have a new car at the lowest monthly price possible. Especially if you end up buying out the car, you’ll have spent way more in the end than taking out a loan and paying it off ASAP.

Sooo, should I forget getting a 2025 RAV Prime due to Toyota huge price increases on high demand vehicles?
@joshjamescars
@joshjamescars 2 месяца назад
Rav4 Prime has already had a huge price increase that I suspect will continue with the next generation. In 2021 it started at around $37K. Today the same trim starts at $43K (meaning that even with the lease cash offer you’re still paying the original price in full). You could wait, but it wouldn’t hurt to get on the list to get a current gen if you want one.

Are these play trucks or work trucks? Toyota must know the answer is “play trucks” because by the time you put anything in the bed, you’re going to be over the GVRW; especially with the hybrid. You can’t go by the payload. I went to get some compost and weighted out at 5600lbs; in at 4166lbs with my 23SR work truck. My curb weight is listed at 3915lbs, so there was an additional 251lbs of gas; etc. Put four humans in the 2024 cab along with a lot of “stuff” and a full tank of gas and you’re over the limit.

I’m a fan of Toyota but lately their pricing is horrible. I feel like they are trying to be like Mercedes-Benz price higher than the competition and assume they will sell on name and reputation for reliability alone. There are so many cars for less money maybe not as a reliable but well worth the money too. I can’t wait to see how much they will charge for the 4Runner.

@@joshjamescars The SR5 is great a utility truck where you don’t mind sort of closing the door hard on accident (like my 2005 Nissan Frontier). But I recently bought a Lexus ES hybrid for just about this price. I love driving a truck, but I don’t think I could justify using the money for the SR5 (lol). @joshjamescars
@joshjamescars 2 месяца назад
@hipsilantro27 I personally think they miscalculated. The way I see it, there’s going to be a group of people who are smart and will balk at the price and refuse to pay it on principle alone (even though they could afford to), and then there’s another group who would be willing to pay for it but can’t afford to. That only leaves the people who are dumb enough to pay that much for one and have the money to do so.
