I did what I could on a supervised drive in rain. Yes you could risk it and dragy/racebox in the wet but I’m not one to do that. I drove it as a daily and tested suspension so people could get an idea. Thanks for watching though!
@@VoltEVReviewsAU That's what I love about the whole thing. Here in the US, at my "local" Tesla showroom, test drives are unsupervised as well. They take you to the car, show you how everything works (if necessary), ask you what kind of roads you want to go on (be it highway, back roads, scenic route, or a mix of both and then they put destinations in the nav), and then they say you've got an hour with the car to just drive it around and see how you like it. It feels SOOO WEIRD compared to typical "Car dealerships" where you practically can't even sit in a car you're eyeing in the SHOWROOM without someone breathing down your neck, let alone driving it. I mean... it probably helps that it's a Tesla, and they most definitely are keeping track of where it is, especially if you're getting close to that hour mark.
As a current model Y owner i test drove this last week in Canberra. Little did i know i was the first one to TD as informed by tesla staff. I took it to country and quieter roads and 40 minutes later with a big smile my decision was made. This renders the M3 irrelevant. What a fantastic future. I haven't had even close to this much fun behind wheels. I can recall this bend recommend speed 55 I was at the legal top of 100 (ahem) it's a 100 zone and this thing was asking me to push faster. As a model y owner i wanted to test the suspension and so I did. I gave it a good solid test over every bump at different speeds. Suspension is excellent especially with the tyres they seem to work so well together it's unreal grip and comfort. Only observation I have is the brakes can feel inadequate with so much speed. As you said Nothing comes near it.. you should go for a test drive again in better conditions.
I test drove the LR a while back. Check it out in my videos. Suspension is as Freakbeast states. Very similar to the LR except this definitely feels more plush/airy/softer as you drive. Don’t forget that the wheels on this car are bigger and tyres are thinner so it’s a good compromise.
Wow, finally a video of a test drive of the new M3P. How was the interior noise from plastics or assembly quality? Any creaks or squeaks, rattles etc? So happy to hear it’s comfortable!
Thanks. Interior noise was totally quiet on my test drive. Time will tell from the owners though. This was a pretty freshly delivered "new car". There were no creaks, squeaks or rattles at all. There was no seatbelt banging against the door/plastics - none of it!
All M3P test drives are supervised in Australia. I drove a red one last Tue 14th May at Parramatta. I let Bella drive it first with me as a passenger. WOW! She is good! Then I had my turn. Amazing. Glad I ordered on day one 24th April here in Oz.
I drove this exact same car he's driving in Chatswood on Saturday 18th unsupervised. I think the manager was just busy but the lady said that was the first day they were doing unsupervised.
Oh very interesting. Thanks for sharing. Perhaps I took too much time with one of the staff members and they scrapped the idea haha. Hope you enjoyed the Test Drive! Any particular feedback from you?
They gave me a blue 2024 performance to drive in Brisbane unsupervised. I think if you already own an older Performance, they trust you to be used to the power. If you don't, they need someone with you for safety.
This car is obviously amazing but howbin the firetruck could they have not included a HUD? That speedo in the top right hand corner is literally useless. Not to mention the changing drive mode situation. Think real world driving doung a 3 point turn with Sydney drivers honking you 😂 still keen though maybe there'll be a Temu HUD for sale at some point
They’ve changed the display to be much bigger now. As a Tesla owner for almost 18 months, it’s something you don’t really look at and pay attention to. There are plenty of aftermarket dashboards you can hook up in front of steering wheel. Not many options for an actual HUD though.
wow they get in the car with you for a test drive now? they went back to how it used to me last year all they did was hand you the key car and say off you go you have 30 min :D
I've read some of these comments and on Facebook - seems like there's mixed reviews on this. Some have had unsupervised so perhaps the rules are changing!
so jealous, ive got the highland and gained a few demerit points on my license already, maybe its for the best i dont get the perf? Too bad your test drive was supervised.
Thanks for the video. Your comments scare me. I was just about to order one. I don’t want soft on the performance car in terms of suspension or handling. I want a comfortable ride but controlled body roll sporty handling, and responsiveness. When I hear soft, I imagine floaty and ride over handling.
Hey @vtv8man. Sorry if it scares you. Let me elaborate abit and hopefully it helps! It was raining so I did not get a chance to take a corner hard/harder than what I would do in the rain so I can't comment. The soft comment was in relation to it being able to eat the bumps on the road. I drove my Golf R there and always have it in sport mode so you feel every single bump on the road. The car does not feel "airy" nor do you get "body roll" like in a higher SUV (even in the Model Y) Overall - it's a very comfortable ride and the throttle response of this car is AMAZING. As I didn't get the test going faster in corners; I would suggest a test drive on a sunny/non rainy day and make that decision.
@@ZappedAU Thanks for clarifying. I'm definitely not trying to side with the sales guy because, in my opinion, the Tesla Chatswood customer team is below average. However, I always base my views on facts. Honestly, you can't even scratch your ass in a Tesla and get away with it, as we owners know how good their Sentry Mode is, lol. It's one of my favorite features, and no other car companies offer anything like it on the market today.
@@michael9678727 good eye Michael, i saw it too and was going to post at 5:18 but scrolled through comments first so credit is yours. and i think it was his nose too. even if it was a head scab he shouldn't flick it in the floor. nice post Zapped, performance looking good.
If an EV6 GT is 80k, I would only buy it if you’re really into the shape or really don’t want a Tesla. Tesla has much more space and there’s no lag in the acceleration at all. I felt abit of delay (very minor) when driving the EV6 GT. Seats in both are amazing though. Can’t complain! Although just remember that the ev6 GT seats are manual. Not electrically adjustable.
Both are comfortable from a ride perspective. I think this Model 3 will be overall better as it’s got adaptive suspension compared to the EV6. Both are just as quiet. None more noticeably louder.
They must of changed things. I did my test drive afew weeks back in Brisbane unsupervised. Before I went though they gave me a speel that they look through the cameras and gps so not to speed. They also said someone previously was doing 130km in a 60km/h zone and they may have to start supervised drive.
Awesome Rolland. I placed my order April 27th here in US. No test cars available in Miami yet. Spec’d mine in white with black interior. Can you confirm something about the black sport seats. Do they have a gray welting on the inner edge of seat and side bolsters; similar to the black welting on the white seats?
If you look at my photo here of the seats, you can see there is light grey stitching on the black seats. Is that what you’re referring to? x.com/zappedau/status/1786557979594297441?s=46&t=szLyK5kMxDx0nDzHvMSRQQ
with this car being as fast as it is and the speed limits being as strict as they are in Aus, I'm not surprised they won't just let anyone off the street go for a rip in it alone.
Seats were snug. Not tight/uncomfortable. For context, I’m about 171cm and just abit over 100kg. Bolsters around the hips are not adjustable. Legs are resting just to the side of the bottom seat bolster. Not sitting on top.
Hey mate, couple of random questions. you mentioned there's a noticeable motor whine when you step on it - is the motor whine noticeably louder than in other dual motor Tesla's? and does the regen feel weaker than in other dual motor Tesla's?
Hey mate, it's definitely not noticeably louder. I would say it's on par/same as them. I only noticed it more because I wanted all sound/music off for the test drive to see how cabin noise is. Regen felt weaker but I'm not too sure if it's to do with the higher state of charge (Was around 72-73% from memory when I started the test drive) You can still do 1 pedal driving for sure. That isn't an issue but apparently the regen now re-adjusts based on the current state of charge.
I guess everyone has a different view. Mine was on wet roads so perhaps that contributed to the overall noise being softer? Will need to try again on a dry day!
Are the buttons on the steering wheel different than on the regular Model 3? In another review, they mentioned that they were capacitive, like in the Model S.
I think it's time to upgrade from my 2019 model 3 performance. These are such a bargain you could spend a few more thousand on upgrades like power frunk etc. Don't particularly love any of the colours so I might go white and get it wrapped. What is the headliner material, cloth or Alcantara-like? Thanks for the videos!
If you're coming from a 2019, you will be over the moon! Little upgrades will definitely go a long way and make the car feel much better for daily use. Depending on the wrap colour, you might also want to consider black as this means you won't need to wrap the insides if you're going to a darker colour. The headliner material is pretty much the same as the ones today. Alcantara/Suede-like materials is only on areas around arm-length height. If you haven't watched it already - have a look at the Red M3P one I recorded a couple weeks back. There's interior panning video around on that one and should show you. All the best if you upgrade!
@@ZappedAU definitely, there are a number of videos showing removal of the panels and results. If you don't mind DIY it would be a cheap upgrade too. I'm definitely going to do it, and power frunk and power driver's door too.
Hurry up we need 1/4 times! The slower Chinese made models does 2.8-2.9 0-60 but the configuration shows 617hp even though it's listed at 540hp for the Chinese model . US models have better battery and more hp
Very similar in terms of feel. Most bumps are absorbed and do not feel harsh at all. The adaptive suspension continually adjusts based on road surface so it will be overall more "comfortable". Do take note that the M3P has 20" wheels which is bigger than the LR.
@@ZappedAU thanks have you driven both? (New LR and Performance?). I get the new performance is way more comfortable than the last gen - wanting to know if the LR is the comfort pick this time
