lol. I drove a wrx sti for 25 years.. I gots to have a hood scoop. And yes they do look good on the Tacoma. Without it looks weird to me?.. I’m only taking my taco sports to Costco or work so no need for that crawl Control or crazy off roading aid.. so far I’m loving my sports .. 👍🏼
Rear lockers and crawl control are basically NOT needed for the average driver. 90 percent of tacomas are driven on payment. And for that task the sport is best suited.
It depends. If it was a mechanical locker like the Eaton in GM trucks, it would get used more. I ordered a Tacoma to replace my Sierra. Right now, if one rear wheel spins, the mechanical locker engages and both wheel spins. In the snow, wet grass, etc, it's sometimes enough to not have to reach for the 4x4 lever (yes my truck has a transfer case shifter, not a switch). The Eaton locker and the transfer case shifter are the only things I'll miss from that truck though. I ordered a TRD Offroad, I hope it's not like my '12 Xterra, could only use the locker in 4-Low. Lockers can be use in high or low range, as long as it's slow.
Great review! I opted for the TRD Off Road because it’s not much more expensive and you actually get a better ride on the road because the TRD Sport’s suspension is stiffer and because it doesn’t have the rear axle locker. Off roading of course is much better in the TRD Off road. It sits a little higher than the Sport and has all terrain tires on the 17 inch wheels rather than the road tires on the 18 inch wheels. I really need the extra height, the skid plates and rear locker for the amount of snow I get in Wyoming. Also the hood scoop on the Sport model interferes with your vision although less so than my 2021 TRD Sport. The last point is the under vehicle view with the Multi-Terrain camera view on the Off Road.
I will say having lockers is better than not. I’ve used them in my bronco plenty of times to get out of stuff. Atleast get a rear locker if u can’t front
the price difference in Canada is only $600 for stock off road vs sport. Premium is only $200 difference. If you are trying to save $600 you shouldn't be buying this truck tbh. $600 shouldn't make a difference when you are spending $50,000-$58,350 CAD.
I still dont understand the difference between PVM vs MTM camera systems between the two models. Does the offroads version of MTM offer the same 360 view with just more features? Both triggered at low speeds?
@quickreviewhd4986 MTM is the same as PVM but with more features where you can see close to wheel wells ect. Its for off roading where you're not sure of clearance. Here is a youtube video explaining and showing you the difference. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HfLhjtba9Fk.html
