Final thoughts on ownership of the Gen 7 Madone SL and why I ultimately ended up on an SLR. Brief comparison of the two, detailed review of the SLR to come.
Beautiful, beautiful bike, and the upgrade price was insane value! Didn't knew this was possible. Had paint issues with my emonda (twice...) if i knew i would ask to upgrade! (they did replace the whole frameset and threw a €1oo gift card too) Enjoy it!
I had an issue with SL seat post, grey color as well. Trek replaced the frame but sent a black fork with it. Actually looks pretty good, so I'm happy with it. Your new SLR looks slick. Thanks for the video.
Wow that’s wild, hopefully no more issues! My SL had grease on the seatpost for some reason so I made sure the shop assembled it with no grease or paste as per the instructions on TREK site
Yes indeed..I went with the SLR flat matte black to avoid the paint problems..I love trek colors but I would probably have a heart attack if my paint gets scratched...lol..I find my trek madone faster than my 2022 S-works SL7 tarmac..
Beautiful bike! I'm ordering a Domane SLR7 with Aeolus RSL 51 wheels, and I been having an issue with choosing the color way. Your video may have convinced me to go with the Axinite Flip.
Having both holes means I’d be able to bring home extra long baguettes. My buddy just picked up a 2021 S5 I’m looking forward to swapping bikes to try it out.
Hi thanks for the review. Love this color. Im getting same color tomorrow. Slr 6 axs gen 7. Question. Where did you buy your mount? And how do you attach it to that type of stem?
I still think the SL was smoother and more comfortable. But I really like the SLR as it gets rid of most of that acceleration lag. I’ll do another video update down the road but I really like both bikes but the SLR more.
Stunning bike and paint job! I've just ordered the same colour in a Domane SLR based on your video. How did you find fitting the Conti tyres to the RSL wheels? I've heard Conti tyres are a nightmare to get on Bontrager wheels.
Easy peasy! I’ve set these up on the old Pro51 and RSL51 and both went on well and set up with a floor pump. The old TL version sucked, the S TR is much improved.
It’s not, but neither is this (SLR frameset matte black only) however you get more choices through warranty and I could have asked for Crimson but didn’t like the white accents
@@waepekkthere’s some pictures in the start of the video, it’s pretty apparent where the issues are. LBS took care of the warranty for me and they handled a warranty replacement on my fuel ex that I didn’t even buy from them
I am also having paint issues on my SL 7 :( I have those dark spots on my frame as you showed. How long did it take to hear back from Trek after submitting a claim? I just left it at my lbs yesterday.
@@UltimateTuner10 Yeah took a while to hear back, but I got the same choice as you to upgrade to an SLR. Still TBD if I can choose my frame colour though (axinite is the nicest one haha). I will likely do that if the price difference isn't drastic. A pearl grey replacement isn't available... Otherwise, I can keep my bike and get a discount!
I’m not. Nobody actually knows what that bike is: could be the new Emonda, could be the new Madone, could be that TREK goes the way of the one bike to do it all and consolidates the two. Knowing people who work at TREK I’ve heard many rumors and a few of them involve the Madone as well as the Emonda
@@UltimateTuner10 Thanks for letting me know. Seems like trek has a pretty good customer service then. Very nice looking bike, both your SL and SLR. I think I may have a SL version soon this year, if they can have some better discount in my local bike shop LOL
@@BowenSpaceyou won’t regret the SL, like I said it’s 90-95% of this bike. Same aero, SLR is a little more responsive but also a little less comfortable.
