I heard from a Birdy that the US Mint is thinking about minting a 2026 enhanced reverse proof silver eagle for the 40th anniversary of the silver eagle. Trying to get more information hopefully they do

For reference I got 60 bucks for one of my reverse proof 2021 type 1 eagles in mint condition about a month ago at a pretty reputable coin shop. I paid 105 for it about 2 years ago. Just a reference for those of you looking at these high priced mint coins. There is an occasional "gem" but the vast majority will require you to sit on them for a very very long time probably just to get your money back. I am sure most of you know this, but there are still some out there that think they are going to see great returns on modern mint stuff. I would suggest only buying if you really like something or are willing to wait 40 plus years for a return on investment.

I hate that the date is so far off center on the Flowing Hair. I know it was like that on the original coin. But, it annoys me. Would you consider getting that or the gold coin?

The Slvr eagle you have, has the W mint mark. The one that's so valuable is the 2019-S mint!

If the mint restricted sales like Mexico does with the Libertad, they'd sell a lot more. They also need to go back to the Heraldic Eagle reverse. Type 2's are garbage in my opinion.

Thank you SW, I honestly don't believe that after the 2021 formation of ABPP, that OUR U.S. Mint will ever offer the direct public another extremely low mintage offering (especially like the 2019S ERP ASE). Also remember this, ABPP gets 10% three days in advance for most numismatic issues.

that 2019-S rev proof is a grand to 2 grand in 69 to 70 grades. you will never see it at the mint for 100 bucks lol thats a pipe dream. sure wish they would have used the old stars on the flowing hair

My offering to the coin gods has not paid off with a 2019 ASE. I would gladly pay $105 for it. Other than that, I am in a soul searching mode. $104 Is a small fortune for the flowing hair medal and the likely price for its gold cousin will probably be out of reach, not for affordability but for reality reasons. The devil will be in the details but I am more likely all out than all in. If I cancelled my ASE sub why because of price considerations why would I pay more for the flowing hair silver medal. As for the gold coin you need to strike gold to come out ahead economically. The only reason I can think of to buy either is the design. The silver flowing hair design looks cool.

On the Morgan/peace dollars I calculated the approximate difference in silver content to the the increase and it was around $5 more for the silver content, but the mints increase in prices was right at $15, so they roughly tripled the actual silver increase cost. No longer subscribed to them. Also, the dull finish is a turn off!
