Recently got some MREs as part of Hurricane relief and I was able to reenact some of these episodes. My family was shocked at how well I knew my way around the components and all the credit goes to you Steve.
Same! Super thankful for the wonderful FEMA folks that came out after Helene and made sure we were well fed. It made me wish I had a tray to put stuff out on and say "nice!". But the meals were really pretty great.
I only got one notification .. I had my first mre last week it was a newer one .. tortellini OMG is was so flavorful . If put on a plate I'd assume it came from a fine Italian restauraint AmAZINg
So glad they went with Mountain House. Legitimately my favorite backpacking food. Always hits the spot after a 12 hour hike. I think it is a step up from the other “outdoor” food companies out there. Steve, give me another whiff of that!
Hey Steve! Good video as always. I just wanted to say how awesome you are and how kind you are with your replies. You are a very kind soul and always have a positive outlook. Thank you for being you. Take care.
Gonna pick some of these up next month for my excursions in the mountains this winter. Have a bunch of the Seafood Chowder from last year but these look downright cozy, total bodywarming morale boosters. No more budget dehydrated chicken soup in my drybags this thing is the all in one chicken soup for the soul. My local surplus guy probably already has bins of these Ive been missing out on gathering all summer, thanks for the insight as always Steve!
Hey Luna, I wish you well on your recovery and hope you bounce back stronger than before. Thank you for stopping by and I hope to see you around. Take care
Wild to think if those nitrogen packed rations become standard issue, some grunt in a couple decades could be eating food that's still considered fresh when it was produced before they were born.
Steve, i believe you to be the best content creator right now, minimal flashiness, straight to the point, quality commentary ane informative. TLDR: Nice.
You’re awesome Steve! Every time you drop a video, there’s always one IMMEDIATELY after the first. It might be a hot minute between uploads, but you’re always good for twice the worth for the wait. One of a kind, genuine, helluva guy. Nice!
I haven't had a chance to watch the channel in a while and it feels strange to see you try something made in the same year as the video, but also a bit of a relief.
I think they should pick a new title for the “cold weather” rations. They’re not just for “cold weather” where freezing is the concern. They’re also much lighter as they contain freeze dried entrees and components. Taking the water out of rations to save weight is also crucial in other environments/situations. For long distance movements and in mountainous terrain that “weight” is also detrimental.
Hey man I hope this new phase is seriously the best one yet. Wishing you good vibes and nothin but the best!. Thanks for stopping by, take care & see ya around
Hey steve, ever since I started watching your videos, I've been so curious about getting some of my own MRE rations for myself! You make them look so good!
The food science is interesting; the nutrition, manufacture and preservation you cover. I always learn something. I will have to find an explainer to undertand those listed components better.
including a mountain house meal is a great idea, they're like the perfect trail food and tbh i bet thats a good morale boost if you're stuck in shit ass cold weather, i love those damn things.
