Slight criticism but the banh mi had a French style baguette, the Vietnamese style has a much lighter, crispier crust and airy but less chewy crumb compared to French baguettes.
@@emu_warrior I mean I personally always put pate in mine, but understand it's personal preference, I feel like using the right bread type for a sandwich recipe is damn near non-negotiable, and I know that dude lives in Texas, there are so many Vietnamese bakeries he could get the correct bread from
The Francesinha is meant to come on a plate surrounded by sauce and the fries on the side so you can dip them as you work your way through the sandwich.
The great thing about something like a PCS is that you can customize it a bit with bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, and some kind of spicy peppers to give it some more texture and flavor. Yes people will argue about the cheese but overall it’s a great sandwich to tailor.
The Döner how it is served today, in the flatbread is indeed something that was first done in Germany. The Turkish owner of a restaurant realized, that Germans tend to take their food in their Lunchbreaks "Auf die Hand" which means literally "On the hand", or simply to go. So him serving all the incredients on a plate didn't work, so he put it in the flatbread. So without two cultures clashing, it doesn't exist at all the way it does today.
@@amin_cheg I mean 20 years ago Turks from Turkey insisted it has nothing to do with how they do it and mockingly called it German to distinguish themselves from the Turks in Germany. Now when it gained popularity, they claim it for themselves. Just ask any German of Turkish descent that is older than 30 and they'll confirm this.
@@amin_cheg Go to Turkey you won't find something like a German Döner Kebap there. It will just be a flat bread with meat and onions. No sauce, no cabbage or other ingredients.
Banh Mi is without a doubt a true champion. The version we always replicate includes hoisin sauce and I wouldn't be able to do without that ingredient now. Great video as always!!
I understand why the reuben didn't make this list, but it remains my favorite sandwich. Cheesesteak v. Cubano really feels like it would depend on the day for me, and they're also 2 sandwiches I've tracked down in Tokyo because they help when I miss the US.
Two details on the torta ahogada. The bread used is birote, not bolillo. Big difference between the two. And while most tortas ahogadas use cooked tomato sauce, the original is actually raw tomato. Lime is definetely not optional. Regardless I don't feel bad that it lost to India. Never tried that sandwich but it looks fantastic.
Can you please make a "which country has the best Shawarma" video (Lebanese, Turkish, Emirati, Israeli - Palestinian, ect...) I know you included Shawarma in the video but it's so good it deserves it's own video
small cool thing with the vada pav (haha indian guy judges american guy cooking his typa cuisine we get it) a big selling point for a majority is the fried batter of the vada that either just falls off it naturally or you just throw some small bits into the oil while frying, it adds a really nice crisp texture. (some add it in the dry chutney but i prefer it as is) all in all tho great video 👍
As an Indian myself, I really am surprised by how impressed you guys loved Vada Pav. We really love it, but to have a vegetarian sandwich making such a deep run was insane!
I like to see Döner Kebab as a german food - since the early 2000's my go-to Sandwich here in Germany - i personally like it with Tzaziki, german coleslaw, cucumber tomatoes and onion an some thin sliced Beef. Greetings from Germany❤️🇩🇪
I'm sorry nothing can beat a chicken bacon ranch for me. I apologize. I also measure things in hotdog units as well. For instance, this soccer field is at least 53 hotdogs wide. I'm too Murican.
Absolutely fair sandwich journalism. I could eat either a bahn mi or Cuban every week/day for sure. Totally fair to include that into rating/voting requirements.
Didn't make a Philly cheesesteak right, Philly style has onion and green bell peppers. Although am happy how cheesesteak made it to finals and almost won. I think the veggies may have taken it over the edge.
I remembered when i was in a rush and decided to buy lunch on the way to work. I didn't want fast food, though. I saw a Vietnamese restaurant. I went there order the Bahn mi sandwhich. When i ate during lunch at work. I was surprised by how good it was. And it smelled so good, and all my co workers where asking me what i cooked, lol 😅
I have eaten some sandwiches from different countries… and many are surely delicious… however some of the ones from Brazil beat them all! It’s like you are eating and you can’t stop dreaming…
Too bad you didn’t try chacarera from Chile. 🇨🇱 Thin sliced beef, ají (like banana pepper), tomato, mayo, and green beans. It was a top sandwich worldwide in 2019
Im not biased because im from New York City BUT the baconeggandcheese from New York City is honestly the greatest sandwich. I'd argue the goat on the everything bagel is the correct way but your choice of bagel I respect.
This isn't a classic sandwich, but... Oroweat 12 grain bread Humm! Caramelized onion hummus 2-3 year old cheddar, cut thick Huy Fong Sriracha Usually eaten in a packed lunch, and I have converted a few people
the same problem as your bahn mi video years ago, a proper vietnamese bahn mi would never use a french style baguette, their roll is much softer and creates a very different eating experience
A great sandwich is more than the sum of its parts. I'm glad to see bahn mi and philly cheesesteak representing that. However, the ultimate "more than the sum of its parts" sandwich is the BLT, which somehow wasn't on here. My mind is blown.
Wait... Why did you use a bolillo for the torta ahogada? It's made with birote, not bolillo. Because birote is a more dense bread and it doesn't break with the sauce.
You should show us how you make a hot chicken sandwich. It's really not good enough to be on this list but I'm hoping you can create the best hot chicken Canada's ever seen.
I feel like the bahn mi needs the patte :( it's a shame that it was judged without it (it's my favorite sandwich and honestly I think it's that much better with it) also you don't pronounce the h in ahogada, and the torta ahogada most of the time should not be mushy when you start eating it, that's why you use bread that's kinda hard, so that it keeps it's consistency and it gets slightly more mushy as you eat it (you really need to be able to handle your spicy food for you to enjoy it, I feel like that's why it lost) but nowadays there's some interesting variations of torta ahogada which in guadalajara they call lonches, which are smaller versions of the torta ahogada, and use different sauces that don't HAVE to be super spicy that probably would have done better in the competition.
I'm glad it wasn't the Philly Cheese Stake, I don't know if there's one out there that is about 20 times better than any I've ever had but I just don't think cheese goes particularly well with non-cured meat that isn't in a sauce.
