Been looking for Drop 10 reviews for my son, thanks for this! Drop 5 bats are completely different bats, so this is gold. Followed you and will continue watching!
@PerformanceFactoryBaseball
@PerformanceFactoryBaseball Месяц назад
Awesome! Yup basically why we made the channel in the first place lol. We were just buying a ton of bats to test because most reviews you see are all drop 5. just doing this purely for fun and to help some other people with their decisions since we were already doing it anyways haha
@pauloaneiros

Great review thanks. My son has the tank drop 10 28/18, we did the break in as suggested but still feel like it's not popping as it should be. Any suggestion? Thanks in advance
@PerformanceFactoryBaseball
@PerformanceFactoryBaseball Месяц назад
@@pauloaneiros Thanks! how many swings on the bat? Even ours after a few hundred swings is a bit pingy still. It may just be a barrel that needs a lot to break in. It may also need to see some velocity as in hitting off actual pitching. Young kids will always have a hard time breaking in composite bats for the most part. It just takes a while. All you can really do is keep swinging it!

@PerformanceFactoryBaseball My son keeps asking for thr Hype Fire (we have the Select Pwr 27/17) and I keep telling him drop 5 reviews don't apply to drop 10. He's also turning 8 in Sept and he will grow out of a bat in 1 year most likely.
@PerformanceFactoryBaseball
@PerformanceFactoryBaseball Месяц назад
@@sonnick yeah mine also went through that stage where he would watch baseball bat bros and other guys mash with certain drop 5's and then want that bat lol. Honestly I would say it depends on the kid. Alloy for a lot of 8 year olds will straight up perform better than composite. Lukas only this last season really started getting enough pop to start seeing a difference. Also was playing 9u/10u majors and most kids throw fairly hard 50-60+ mph. We actually have a Cat X2 Connect coming in today so it should be interesting to see the comparison.

We were able to demo and then buy a pre-release catx2 composite last week at the Marucci World Series. My 11 year old LOVES it (his is a drop 8). He hit his distance and exit velocity PRs with it. Says it swings quite light and feels very good on mishits with the new added shock absorption in the end cap (so now has absorbers in the end, the middle, and the handle). I got to talk to one of the bat designers there. It’s a new type of composite that is definitely hotter than last year’s CatX, but they say may be more fragile. Also, this year Marucci is putting a BPI number (balance point index) on each of their bats, so you’ll have actual data on the “swing weight” of each of their bats.
@PerformanceFactoryBaseball
@PerformanceFactoryBaseball Месяц назад
yes very excited to test that one out. I have heard good things from basically everyone who has tried it so far. Honestly that is probably good in the drop 8/10 space. Most of these bats take a while to break in. Id trade off a bit of durability for a hotter bat. Most the marucci bats are tanks anyways and will last you a season even in drop 5
@kimberlylashomb7229
@kimberlylashomb7229 9 дней назад
My son's X2 composite just arrived yesterday and its a solid bat. He said the same that its light swinging. Hes been swinging the Tank this summer, so its a lot lighter. Sounds about the same as the Icon so Im sure its just as fragile as the other hot bats out there.

Awesome video!! When researching bats for that 8-12 ish age group it’s apples to oranges watching grown men hit nukes with drop 5s or BBCOR size kids swing drop 8s or 10s, and that seems to be the only review videos out there! Much needed video with great info! Thanks

Thank you we appreciate that! We generally have some point in the video where we post the exit velocity. In this video I didn't want to bog down with a ton of data but maybe I should have. In the actual bonesaber comp review video we posted its numbers. I use a pocket radar to get them and take the top 10 exit velo's from our session, throw out the top 2 and bottom 2 and use that for a high and average. Still getting better at this so any suggestions is most certainly welcome!

Subbed. This is much needed - seeing kids swing these bats is great. I've been watching the big channels for a couple of years now, and got my kids CAT 9 composites. Ive come to the opinion that between lower pitching speeds and lower strength of younger players, one piece alloy is better. They swing them better (speed and control), and i dont think my kids can compress composites enough to get the benefit that composite gives
@PerformanceFactoryBaseball
@PerformanceFactoryBaseball Месяц назад
Yeah I would tend to agree. I think right up until about higher end 9u/10u alloy is going to be the safer option. You really need them to have good bat speed as well as seeing hard pitching for composite to really jump ahead!
@adamweeks8436

@@bassballboy the 2023 or 2024 Demarini the Goods is a SUPER LIGHT swinging alloy 2 piece in usssa. It is also IMO the hottest alloy bat out here right now. It has more of a PONG sound than a PING, if that makes sense, 😆. Forgiving on mishits too.
@jordanpowers4636
@jordanpowers4636 Месяц назад
Just got the soldier tank in and I also thought the handle was too large. You can remove the flared handle piece it is just a rubber piece that can be cut off if you remove the tape. Feels and swings a lot better with the flared knob.

My son currently swings a 29" drop 10 icon. I can tell by his swing it's a little too big/heavy for him. He is 9 years old @ 4'3" 64lbs. Got him to swing a 26 inch drop 12 in the cages and his swing improved dramatically and actually started pulling the ball. I know that's too small, but I'm looking into getting him a 28" bat, which usssa bats in the 28" range swing the lightest?
@PerformanceFactoryBaseball
@PerformanceFactoryBaseball 3 дня назад
@@clintonlavine2879 yeah Lukas is also 9 but a bit heavier and taller than your son. Honestly if he is struggling with weight and size I would definitely think about about a single piece alloy. The new Cat X2 one piece is very good and light. If he wants a composite then something like the Bonesaber composite is very light swinging!

@PerformanceFactoryBaseball
@PerformanceFactoryBaseball 3 дня назад
@@clintonlavine2879 anytime! I think a lot of people write off single piece alloys in usssa but in all honesty they might perform better than composite til a kid is big enough and strong enough to compress the composite and the ball is also coming fairly hard. Lukas is just getting to the point where he truly can compress it

@PerformanceFactoryBaseball

All of the velo’s for the bats are in their own specific review videos. We didn’t super focus on exit velocity with this showdown because generally for the ages swinging drop 10 it’s more about getting a bat the kid can get through the zone consistently and effectively
