People complain its overpriced. Thats a German badge,and a brand who owns a lot of luxury brands. Its not intended for average joe. Meanwhile people buys the toyota innova at 1.6M,with boring interior,dry tech features,and a sooting diesel engine and call it sulit,without realizing it shouldn't come with any form of import tax.

Given the pricepoint, goodluck selling this car here in PH. There are more affordable and reliable other options from renowned brands in this crowded segment.

@@lucky889s9lmao no. Taos/Tharu is supposed to be a cheaper and slightly smaller alternative to the Tiguan and is literally meant to be for North American and Chinese market. The Taos SE and SEL model is similarly priced to the US spec model however.

Peugeots have done better with the premium sub-luxury segment. Volkswagen dipped their hands far into the pangmasa segment with their SAIC lineup, hence the comments.

Have a 2014 Tiguan and a 2017 Jetta and what infuriates me is that the ABS speed sensors often break and you're left in limp mode. Hoping that this doesn't suffer from the same illness. That said, this is a looker!

How often do you use your cars? I noticed that it's more common if the car is not daily driven. Never had the issue on my VW until I went abroad for a week so car wasn't used. Fixed it and problem never came back.

@@cyng2430Bro, VW isn't famous for building reliable cars, their cars are always facing many different problems. Until it'll cost you more than 100 to 200k out of the warranty, when you're gonna experienced air-conditioning, turbo, or other expensive vital elements. I experienced turbo problem on my VW before, and needed to replace it by another one. I wasn't the only one many other owners was victim from the same problem. One of my co-worker, had its turbo exploding and damaging its engine, car reparations bill was so much big, that he needed to give up and buy a new car.

I bought a brand new Tiguan TDI last Dec. 2015. After 3 years I had a recurring speed sensor problem like the one you mentioned. I kept replacing it but the problem kept recurring. I sold the car after 7 years. I wasted a lot of money on that car. Today I'm driving a 2004 Touareg and a restored 1970 superbeetle. Simple design with no sensitive elecronic issues. Now I have peace the peace of mind. To hell with these new cars with stupid complicated electronic sensors and computers. Just sharing my exoerience..

@@winstonvillaflor7050 Electronic isn't a problem, when it's well built. Why japanese brands aren't facing the same problems on similar technologies ? Answer is, most japanese brands are taking their time to built and develop correctly, where german brands are putting out new models or variants every year.

Lack of ADAS could be a deal breaker for many. Did VW not see how majority of cars in this segment now have ADAS? Especially at that price point.

Nice review and always funny. A bit like car wow in the U.K. this is after skipping the Tiguan in Ph and the too small T-cross a fit in. In Europe it’s called the T-Roc. Only the front and rear parts are different. VW is too expensive in the Ph. Many Chinese cars are much cheaper and more complete. Not to mention the many years of warranty. And 3 years free PMS. No wonder you see so few VW win the Ph.

Im really curious about these DCTs that are very common in cars from China..Are they coming from the same manufacturer/s? Are they developed inhouse? Why are they using this type of trans? Is it already tested for long term reliability out there? Hhmm hope these car review channels could somehow do an episode of this..

At that price point, you already get to have a HRV RS which is a bit more powerful and of course with Honda Sensing. Also, Honda isn't any less to VW when it comes to performance and reliability. Another option is the Crosstrek, may be less horses but handling is most likely much more superb. Sorry VW, but this could be a hard sell for you.

The larger screen and lack of physical knobs and buttons is distracting to drivers. You can't operate them without taking your eyes off the road. The Japanese are keeping it reasonable but China and Korea seem to be fueling a screensize escalation war.

@@eldrinpaulgok-ong3450 This is a globalized world, and it´s a global model. VW has plants worldwide; even in Germany, most of their models are imported. This is not a rebrand, unlike the Ford Territory (Yusheng S330 ). Apart from that, again, I don´t get the VW strategy in the Philippines. After the sedan flood, this could have been a success, but it´s overpriced. 200k - 300k less, and it would have been competitive.

@@eldrinpaulgok-ong3450most VWs sold in the Philippines weren't made in Germany anyways. Jetta and Golf were made in Mexico, Touareg in Slovakia, Polo in India. It doesn't matter that it's made in China since it still follows global VW standards.

Looking at the H6 in the background and wondering when youre going to review it🤔? Back to this, how does this differ from a Tiguan? Just curious. People who like German Cars are going to buy this regardless of the fact it doesnt have as much value compared to the competition from where this car is made, China. Its also HORRENDOUSLY expensive for what it offers.

The Tiguan is bigger. In Europe they call this the T-Roc. It’s between the T-Cross and the Tiguan. Only the front and back are different from the T-roc. Correct it’s expensive. And as always in the Philippines no choice in options , too bad. No configuration possible. Only 4 colours and 2 versions. In Europe the T-Roc has many different engine options and different option packets. Ofc this makes the delivery time sometimes long to very long .

1.6 million is the price of the SE model in the US. SEL in the US is same as the Philippines price: 1.9 million.

Whatever VW Ayala's Do in all it's line up of vehicles , still no improvement in Sales. Main PROBLEMS?? PRICING and Features TECh. Considering it's made in china, Ayala's management should have targeted the china made Ford Territory strategy pricing at 1.59M which is pretty good. The way VW is doing BAD operation soon they will close down same as what happened to Maxus product: RIP.

Old model? This Tharu just came out this year in China and it's even more updated than the US-spec model. Even the engine is their newer EVO II engine. Yes it's overpriced but it isn't old.

1.8m to 1.9m? Thats made in china, but with VW badge, some chinese made cars are way below that pricepoint, if the engine was bigger at 2.0L then price could've been justified.
