He trolls all the influencers & if he sees anything negative about his bikes he becomes belligerent. This is one reason I decided not to buy a Wired bike.
Actually, that’s a selling point on probably 80% of the E bikes being sold right now. The fact that you’re trying to write it off as if it’s insignificant paying $250 in shipping plus paying taxes? That is a big bite.. and guess what for the amount of difference that it would cost me to get the wired delivered to my door I could get the E-cells And a bigger controller.
I went with the Dual Star package on the 5 Star. RST guide fork is good but that dual crown fork is amazing stability, ride quality, and durability combined with a streamlined dual battery package that Ecells has perfected over years of experience for $500. Are you kidding me? Then I call Ecells myself and the owner answers my questions personally and responds to my questions and concerns in the group. Ecells is a family and I am grateful to be a part of it! Thanks for the great info! Look forward to your comparison of both great bikes!
The dual crown fork offered by e cells is not a thru axle and is just for looks. The RST with a thru axle is a much more robust and is a safer fork than the e cell branded one.
@@jfly2249The 1st few Ecell bikes that were sent out had the quick release front axle. They changed all bikes moving forward to the through axle for safety reasons. The dual crown fork has more travel, is more stable, and offers a whole other level of ride quality. Especially off road. In 5 years they have had no issues other than a few warranty issues on wrecked bikes or from being synched all the way down in trucks with tie straps. The dual crown is an awesome fork!
I have an ECELLS Five Star and couldn't be happier with it. So much fun to ride. Their customer service is unparalleled. When you call you have a conversation with an actual person and on a first name basis; including the owner himself. He is very active on the Five Star Owner's group on Facebook where people share news, tips, upgrades and modifications to enhance ebike experience, ownership, and community. I would love for you to do a comparison between Freedom+ vs. Five Star Dual. Keep up the good work and thanks for the great content 🤙🏼
The 2024+ Wired Freedom to my front door was $2444.70 with the new through axel RST Guide forks. The Five Star with the bigger better brakes too, in rack battery, More suspension travel dual crown forks, Stronger double walled gold anodized rims, AND the optional torque sensor, in gorgeous Monarch Blue, $ 2543.00 ! FYI also, I could NOT find a dual crown fork to fit the new 135mm through axel front hub! Which would have been an extra $300 if I could find one to fit. Both dan at Wired and Brian at Citizen Cycle told me adding a torque sensor will require a different controller and will be very costly and difficult to get through. So guess which bike will arriving at my door by the end of June ? Looks like I will Get to see first hand how my modified 2024 Freedom stacks up next to the new 5 Star E-bike.
It amazed me how many WIRED guys, and gals, have bought the Five Star with the new bigger better DUAL STAR package. Most have said that if I'm going with dual battery, I'm going with Ecells since they have 5 years experience in dual battery bikes.
E Cells has excellent customer service as well as many more options. I love the fact that u can design the bike the way I want… and I love those gold double rims… happy I went with them and I hope you get one
Had the freedom for a year now and love it. Had a few issues but the staff helped so much and no more issues. Thinking hard about the newest version. I am a 250lbs cyclist that drives it hard. Wired has been a fantastic company to me that I would buy from again.
“Overheating Issues”!!! Who came out with the Gel Filled Potted Controller to address the Problem of Overheating???? I don’t think it was Wired. Who has Not had a problem with Overheating in their Dual Motor, Dual Battery Bikes???
I think you are one of the more straight up and tell it like it is guys. Just my opinion, and trust whatever comes your way and your experiences with them. Enjoying something now vs hoping for something new later seems the best way to describe what I see in your vids. Thanks for your honesty
I was considering the Wired strongly and then ended up going with the ECells - I am also local over in folsom. I need to build the bike as it just got here last night. If you wanna check out the ecells in person feel free to contact me. You can do a hands on.
Thank you for mentioning the battery movement, I have the 2024 wired with 1200 miles on it, before that I had a ride1up 500 series with 11,000 miles on it, the battery movement on the ride1up shorted out the battery connection after about 5000 miles, I replaced it through ride1up and started using a mini-ratchet strap to further tighten the battery down. I used the same mini ratchet strap on the wired when I got it because I noticed the same potential issue. really appreciate all your videos, thanks.
I went with ecells with the dual star package as it seems to be a better value to me, plus they have 24 inch wheels as a free option. Which is ideal for shorter people.
Very interesting video.. I cannot speak about either of these bikes as I own one Wallke Cruiser and a Magicycle Cruiser. Will wait for your video on the Ecells bike.
Solor Surron Great video, I just want to say that we appreciate your logical unbiased commentary on this subject. There seems to be so much crap flying around on both sides . Which makes it very confusing for people to figure out what is the truth of the matter? Since I own a 2024 freedom, I can tell you exactly what people are referring to about the rear suspension Arm. If you notice in CC’s video you can clearly see the added shims in the suspension arm on the new White freedom. I really didn’t notice much of a problem on my bike until I added a second battery on the rack, then it became extremely obvious. That’s when I made and installed Specer shims to make the suspension arm more rigid, and it helped immensely. You can also notice that the E-cells bike comes with the same shims already installed. The five star frame design has been out for five years and they have had plenty of time to figure out the bugs and addressed them accordingly. This would also explain why their bike already comes with a potted controller to address heat issues. Can’t wait to see future clarification videos from your channel. Thanks.
agreed, any rack weight = wobbles, i'm going to beef it up fairly easily, then hopefully my neighbor buys this freedom & i can get a pimped out 5 star with extras, only because i plan to make it into a 2-wheeled F-350 & make a HD trailer for it, the e-cells frame is Much stronger looking, but the Wired fab & welds are as sexy as a Ducati, Cheers to all..
I have the 2024 Wired Freedom Gen 1 also. I also removed my fenders. I have been very happy with bike other than some overheating issues. However, I think the 2024 Wired Freedom Gen 2 is a major step up. I haven't seen anything on the Wired site but I am hoping there will be an upgrade path offered for the Gen 1 owners, especially since it was out for short time. I would love to see an option to purchase the Gen 2 power train for your Gen 1.
Appreciate your video and wanted to put in my two cents. I went to the Wired site to purchase the Freedom a couple of months ago. I put my order in the cart and believe, if I remember correctly, that I put in all my information and credit card number. It was then and only then that I saw the $275 (?) shipping charge. It is their prerogative to do business as they wish, but I thought that was not at all cool and I canceled my order. I have a Five Star on the way for $300 less and I don't plan on riding 40 MPH so I don't think I will miss the extra 5 amps the Freedom has if that indeed is the case. Bottom line for owners of either bike is whether you are satisfied and enjoying your purchase. If so then all the other drama doesn't really matter.
I would love to see a 3 bike drag race. The Wired Freedom 2024+, eCells 5 star (dual battery), and Motor Goat v3 (dual battery). Have two races with them. The first a flat-land race, and the second a hill-climb race. This will settle (for now) who is the true king of the hill. People can then compare price, and decide if the juice is worth the squeeze.
He's a deal. New 2024 Wired to trade for a 4 piston Tektro FIVE STAR. Straight up, I pay shipping for your bike. Must be new and no issues. One only. Then we can have that race. Goat will have to send me one. If we can get a wired guy to come to SF Electrify Expo we can have that race, hill climb test, and acceleration tests. Goat will be there with us in SF. Will be fun. I know who will win. Do you?
@@e-cells2222 I would not wager a bet on that race. It will be close. My Goat arrived two days ago, and I am still getting the feel for it. I think that the reasonable approach would be with all three equipped with dual battery, as with that second battery the controller can deliver more amps with less voltage sag. I am beginning to wonder if Goat Power Bikes did a 1960's style motor specification fudge (various car companies lowered their advertised ratings on cars like the Mustang, to allow them to race in a lower class). I know for a fact the 2600 Watt max wattage on the Goat is a "reduced rating", and I suspect the Torque figure is fudged as well.
So far I passed 1500 miles on my Wired Freedom, and it's holding up really good. May need to look at changing the brakes soon and I might change the tires soon but it's riding good!
I also got into a head on crash with a biker that was not paying attention and was driving on the wrong side of the trail around a corner yesterday. I couldn't avoid him and we crashed. It was go into the trees or stay my course. But is perfectly fine, it's a tank. I think he it the front tire first which protected the rest of the bine. Bent fender and chip of paint on the front that I touched up with paint. Bike still rides good as new!
Honest. Thanks. I have the same bike as you and it’s fabulous. The light is dumb, and they know it but haven’t done anything to fix it really. It does rattle on bumps and it’s super annoying. I’m tempted to get the new Wired. However, it’s HEAVY! And I don’t really need the range and so forth. I live near the place that you can pick it up. It’s not a store front or factory. It’s just a rented warehouse with a few other companies in it. There is no sign or dedicated office space that you would otherwise expect. It’s just a place to get your bike. They have a small isle where the assembled bikes are waiting. E-Cells had me at first but there upgrade menu is to complicated for a simple guy like me, although I do have a PhD. Just too many options.
Comparing both bikes at the moment. A big shocker was Ecells $300 "tariff" fee if you want to add any upgrades! I priced it with the $500 fork/extra battery/bigger headlight option, a better rear shock, and gold wheels and it was over $3K.
Yeah, it's a bummer they have to add that fee already. If you decide to get the Wired Freedom, I'd appreciate it if you used the link in the video description box, it really helps out this channel!
Very informative video! I also recently ordered the Wired Crusier+ in black with delivery in mid to late June. If you order now, the delivery date for the Crusier+ is now mid to late July. Which Wired did you order, the Freedom+ or the Cruiser+? Both Wired and Ecells are excellent choices, just a matter of personal preferences. Looking forward to your reviews on your future new Wired+!!!
I just received an email update from Wired stating that the 2024 Crusier+ will ship in mid to end of July instead of June due to re-programming issues. That's OK with me, Wired getting it right and well worth the extra month wait.
What do ya’ll think about if I buy a “dual star” five star e-cells bike, and do a std. large wheel on the front and a 24” on the back, “mullet” style. I’m 5’5 and ride on the road, but also do desert sandy-type trails sometimes. Or should I just buy it in the 24” all around? There is a $300 up charge to change to 24”. Any ideas appreciated.
Solar, I believe you live in the Folsom, Ca area. If you can make the drive to So. Calif., E-Cells and David Cleveland will be at the Electrify Expo in Long Beach June 1 and 2. Your chance to Test Ride E-Cells line of bikes and meet David Cleveland. Could be a Great Connection for you. I don’t think the owners of Wired Truly Appreciate the hard work you have put in promoting their product. Solar, You do one of the Best jobs on the internet evaluating E-bikes and putting out valuable information. Your video on Watts, Volts, and Amps was Truly useful in understanding the relations to E-bikes. Most critics of E-Cells, The 5 Star, and David Cleveland have never ridden the bike or met David Cleveland in person. Now is Your chance. You may be Surprised!!! Enjoy The Expo!!!!
That sounds like an awesome opportunity! Thank you for the kind words as well, I really appreciate it! I am originally from Southern California (North San Diego area) and will be going down to San Diego for 2 weeks at the end of June, but unfortunately I will miss the June 1st date for Long Beach. I would love to meet Dave and ride the Ecells 5 Star. I'm sure it is an amazing bike since so many people love it!
Check your front Cup and Cone bearings as I did.I was shocked to see the pre load over tightened and very little grease in the cups. Also there is one less ball bearing on the side of the brake rotor and the cups are the same size on each side.Called the company and they said they will have to check on this. There is room for another ball but maybe there is a reason for this,All the cup and cone bearings I seen,All the balls are snug with little room between them.
I think interaction from a owner of a business is a great thing. It shows hes not a corperate bot. Freedom of speach should not be limited by others through shaming. Also, Theres no rule in youtube agreements that says if your a certain somebody, you cant express your opinnions lol. That being said, you did not mention that the owner of wired publicly and falsely/misleadingly advertised UL certification on their website causing numerous youtubers to falsely advertise the same false statement LoL. Or how about wired's bendy frame issue that is clearly unresolved for the older owners?
Of course you can express your opinions, but that doesn't absolve you from their consequences or ramifications. Him calling me a liar and then asking me to call him to shill his bike was not only unprofessional, but completely unnecessary, in my opinion. I also haven't mentioned his time in prison either. I can't mention every single thing about everyone in just one video. Thank you for your input, I do appreciate it!
@@leetjohnsonlet those who judge, also be judged. We live in a judgey judge world. Specially how sensitive the world has become. I also been to jail a life time ago, for beating up 6 sensitive idiots in a 6v1. Lol jk, don't judge me.
@@leetjohnson you should bring up his jail time. I heard it was a pretty horrible unjust situation that ruined his life. To overcome this and become a ceo of a company, I think is pretty resilient and remarkable. I corrected your dual star cost, can i say you were untruthful? I think he was trying to make contact with you but didnt know how to privately cause hes old lol, thats just my opinion.
@Goesriding you corrected my dual star cost? I posted the video screen shot of the price. Discount codes are not the same as advertised price. Not sure what you're getting at....
@@leetjohnson my bad. I read $2495 on screen in my brain while u were talking haha. You should mention the torque sensor upgrade. It's really the only real difference in riding these 2 bikes.
I don't think that it does....however just to make sure, I would message the company on their website via the chat box. They are fairly quick to respond.
Oh boy, where do I start. I have over 1700 miles on my 2024 Freedom now, with zero issues so far. I love it. I also have a decked-up Dual Star on order from E cells. Probably won't get it until July. E Cells is a great company and Dave Cleveland is a great guy who REALLY CARES about his customers and is a bit of a fanatic about his products. He may go too far sometimes in the cause of protecting his brand but i think it's coming from a good place. Competition can be brutal and margins are slim. As long as people get all the correct information that they need in order to make an informed decision and they don't get sucked into that rabbit hole of which brand is better, they should be happy with the bike they end up buying.
It is suspicious that he just did over 10 years in prison then got out and started an ebike company. Now he is lieing about his competition because he is a "fanatic" and "protecting his company". Competition is always good but that owner is a goofy.
Didnt he get a second chance in jail already?? You shouldn't act like that towards your competitors let alone a youtuber. Tbh his rep was trashed when I started reading other posts... what a interesting way to create hype for your ebike. He needs to let the people decide. Also Drag raceing them was the best idea yet!
I'm going with the e cells, two-year warranty a lot of options I live in Nevada not too far from Pahrump so I can actually go there, I'm also 6 foot 5 and I need the 19 inch frame... Seems like wired as a good bike but all the reviews that I see are people that own it already.
The only aspect you may need to address is that E-Cells reached out to the motor manufacturer & their warranty applies up to a 40 amp controller. Going to a 45 amp controller would void their warranty. I definitely suggest you test the E-cells bike in order to make a proper comparison.
I've seen this argument posted a few times, and my thoughts on this are: if it's true that the motor manufacturer's warranty only covers up to a 40-amp controller and going up to 45 amps would void that warranty, Wired will still replace the motor at no cost to the customer under the terms of their own warranty. The manufacturer's warranty comes from the manufacturer, and that's for Wired to worry about. As a customer, my only concern is the warranty Wired provides to me. I own both a Wired Freedom and a Wired Cruiser, and my experience with them has been fantastic. They've always stood by their products, and I have no reason to doubt they'll replace any components covered under their warranty.
If hentach gave anyone info on wireds motor is this even legal? Or are you saying e cells motor? And are you saying its a fact the two motors are indeed the same?
I am interested in both companies.. I like that they are competing and both companies are coming out with better products.. I will say that the Wired Cruiser now has full suspension and looks pretty good.. I am in the Rockies.. A couple things that I am waiting for is a mid-drive torque senser with carbon gates belt drive and a geared hub... Also regenerative braking.. With a throttle that would work if there was any belt issues.. It would have to come with puncture resistant tires.. I think I live about 10 miles from the mountains.. It would be nice to do 10 miles of riding in the mountains so I would need a range of about 40 miles.. With how fast the ebike market is changing I am sure it won't be long before there is a bike that comes with all of this stuff..
Things are definitely changing quickly, I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of those things soon. As far as I know, regen is only possible on direct drive motors, not geared hub motors.
I have the Jen to 2024 early version wired freedom and only have about 300 miles on it. I have a grinding sound coming from the motor and pedal assist mode to and higher sounding like a bearing going out. I spoke to wired, and they asked me to send an audio recording of the sound, so I did. They told me that sound is normal operation of the bike and it is the metal sandwich of the nylon gear in the motor. That doesn’t sound right to me though? Have you or anyone else experienced this issue?
Mine does make a little bit of a light grinding sound, especially after about 20 minutes and it is warmed up. It hasn't caused any issues, just sounds a little bit noisy. As far as I know, that is from the metal gears over the nylon, as solid nylon are quieter, but don't last as long. I think they figured the extra noise was worth it. Very similar to my rc cars with nylon vs metal spur gears.
Thanks for your video on these bikes. Your videos have always been great and very informative. I have a 2024 Green Wired Freedom and absolutely love it, customer service has been incredible as well! It's interesting to see people get so wound up over the two companies. I believe when someone copies your design it's the ultimate compliment to your company! The consumer is the ultimate winner here as there will always be more competition yet to come. I really think there are people losing sleep over whether they bought the right bike, really 😂 Great to see Wired update their bikes again and see the response. Looking forward to your upcoming test with a possible 3,000 watts stock, out of the box!!
I have a 2024 Wired Freedom and on more than one occasion the chain has popped loose from the chainring. Do you know if purchasing a 130mm BCD 56T Chainring guard will solve the problem? It looked like it might do the job but if so, I will probably need bike technician to install it for me. Not having to worry about chain coming off would make my riding experience a lot more pleasant!
Looks like I may have found an answer to my question. There is a portion of the frame that's only about 1/8" or less from the chain teeth on the chainring. Adding a chainring guard would extend it out 1/8" or possibly a little more, resulting in a interference fit. Unfortunately it seems the frame design on this bike does not lend to the use of a chainring guard. Is a bit of a annoyance when getting on of off the bike, if I bump something wrong or back pedal the chain can occasionally come off.
@@leetjohnson Yes, the chain issue seems to occur for me occasionally when getting on or off. Pretty sure I can avoid by positioning pedals right! I was out for a long ride yesterday and it was fun. Think I have most of my settings right for me. Only thing I could improve is possibly a little less surge when throttle is activated accidentally (just a little) while riding. Probably just a minor setting change
Thanks for your efforts in making these videos. I like your attitude! Im sorry so many people, from all camps, are so tribal, like you were saying about them acting as if they have a vested interest, when really they are providing free marketing, but worse is how they go so hard to defend companies they dont have intimate knowledge about, other than what has been presented to them, ie marketed. Id say both Wired and Ecells are decent outfits, who of course are trying to make money, but also take a measure of pride in their product... I dont see they reason for all the tribal conflict. Anyway, dont let the chronically angry stop you from putting out your videos, as they would be missed, however, Im not too worried about that as you handle them well, calling out the clownshoes when needed, but mostly letting there vitriol roll right off your shoulders!
I own the 5STAR bike, and while it offers good performance, it has several issues. There is a persistent rattling noise, possibly coming from the kickstand. Additionally, the shipping process seems unreliable, and the motor is noisy. I received several damaged items, and the drivetrain and chain frequently malfunction. The bike is also quite heavy, and the seat stem has an unusual width. However, it does have a better frame and rear suspension than the wired model, and there are various customization options available. Unfortunately, the torque sensor does not function as expected. The most significant problem is the company itself. The owner's behavior is concerning - he has a history of legal issues a convict and questionable conduct, and there are serious allegations against him. Dealing with the company can be challenging. Considering all of this, I am hesitant to purchase another bike from this company, and I would advise potential buyers to be cautious.
I like the wired frredom, but I see tons of issues being posted with these bikes, including the issues stated in this video. I think e- cells just have a more reliable built bike, and they give you more for less money. That is the only reason I am now going to purchase the e-cell instead of the wired. I like both bikes, though.
My friend has a wired and it wobbles and has had electrical issues. I have an Ecells with no issues at all. For Wired to ask 300+$ to ship to 70 miles away to Indiana is a joke.
Interesting. What kind of electrical issues is he having? Shipping to California is only $250. No wobbles on mine, but I have heard that some have that issue.
Last time I spoke to him he was trying to get a controller. I believe shipping with insurance was going to be 325(for me for the freedom) I got my Aventon it was beat up bad and I refused delivery. When I called wired and asked if I could drive over to buy, I was told they needed to check warehouse and would call me back which they never did. Anyways that's when I discovered Ecells. You do good videos, keep it up.
First off thanks for your honest perspectives on these bikes. While both companies make what looks like very similar bikes, I ordered the Wired Cruiser because I wanted a step thru this time and the Wired seemed like the best deal. I also prefer the look of the Wired. My only reservation was not the shipping cost to receive the bike but the idea that if there are any warranty issues, I will have to pay for the shipping on those as well. I understand they are not a large company that can eat the cost of shipping like a big box or large on line retailer, it is just something I hope I will not have to do. I must admit though, that I made my decision on my purchase before seeing the post by the Ecells owner here or anything about his past but what did put me off is their need on their web site to inform me of their religious views. I do not care to know what someones religion is or what their beliefs are and if they feel the need to tell me, I tend to go the other way, to each his own.
Ecells with the Dual Battery and Dual Crown Air Adjustable Fork, with 7″ Large Headlight is a better deal however the new controller by wired that can make the freedom peak over 3000 watts makes it a difficult decision. 2 great companies that have made new standards for other companies to follow.
@@jfly2249Which bike currently is set up like that? Both are moving to the thru bolt. Wired i think anounced that detail first if you care but I've seen five stars online already with the thru axle so they're delivering it a couple months earlier. Whatever, another area where they copy EACHOTHER whenever one figures something out the other agrees is better.
@@jfly2249 I agree with you 100% but that's what I received from Wired back in February when I bought that particular model. My biggest concern is that it has a very noisy motor, rubbing sounds that are not normal. Mainly in third level. A bunch of people on here have said what a great owner that Steve is, that he is very accessible and he really cares about the customer. When I called up there about my problem the lady told me that Steve is super busy with meetings and other things and cannot possibly take every phone call. To make matters worse she wouldn't even speak to me about my motor issue or put me over to technical service. Just send us a video she said.. Easier said than done. I'm going to try to do this video somehow but this was a huge turn off for me.
This is a lot of back and forth from two small E-bike companies, I would be surprise if either one was a top 20 manufacturers in the US. But I like the Ecells because of the gold rims, black with gold rims looks sharp!!!!
@UncleJam5624 If I was to guess, I would say probably 10k last year for Wired, and I would assume probably closer to 50k this year...but that's just my best guess. They are gaining popularity exponentially, while Rad is falling behind from what they used to have in market share...
I owned both bikes wired freedom 2024 and ecells 5 star and I liked the freedom more for pedaling and it's more ergonomical the battery seems to have more range but after a certain amount of charges the range goes down ecells is overall better faster and more powerful I think the customer service is lacking for both companies but ecells offers way more for warranty, i think they both have advantages and i would buy wired freedom again its a bikers bike ecells is fast like a Porsche i dont like the pedaling wired got them on that
I was looking at the ecell bike and I saw that you to pay like extra to unlock the whole thing is that true or did I misread it because I’m getting either a wired or e cells
@Wildtuff they are both great options. If you want the dual batteries, the Wired Freedom will be cheaper. If you do get the Wired, I have a link in the video description that helps out this channel if you decide to get one, I'd really appreciate it! Wither way, let me know what you decide!
I've heard that the 45 amp controller can burn out the motor a lot quicker than just the 40 amp one . I own the early 2023 wirde freedom and was very disapointed that the mid suspension didn't perform as expected it actually rubbed against the fender & controller box. When I complained to wired all they sent me was a replacement plastic controller box and nothing else . This will be my reasoning behind buying a 5 star , at least they satisfy the customer which wired has not made my 1 experience with them a repeatable one , I would be very hesitant to purchase anything from wired in the future cause once you've bought it your stuck . Also I have emailed wired and chatted several times , everyone in 2023 seemed to be Steve , funny thing is that all those Steves had different advise or suggestions .
I don't own a wired freedom, I have no dog in this fight. But when another reviewer (tail happy) got his bike, it came with a second Longer rear shock to address your problem and prevent the rub with the controller box. They have since gotten away from that TALL plastic box which housed the controller, and now have a lower profile controller for their bike. So, the problem you describe does not exist with the current versions. It would seem they responded to the earlier user complaints and made design changes to address it.
Solar, you need to Promote the Electrify Expo in Long Beach. Like You, some of your followers may not be aware of it and may be able to attend. If you go you could meet up and see them face to face.
I paid 2105 with tax for pick up for a new wired cruiser.... Ecells is like 600 more then that because there cruiserdual is 2600. Also it ships in at the end of the summer way later.
Good take on this topic! Not to big on ecells myself but I know that both bikes are nearly identical! Really no reason to talk about why this or that destroys the other I’m staying with my purchase with the freedom and I am just excited to get out there and use it!
@@leetjohnson absolutely! Once I get this bike my plan is to get the Topek bag and adapter an add that to my new bike because it is so inconvenient having to carry things while I’m riding and braking at the same time
@undergroundcreeper7997 right on! If you do decide to buy a Freedom, I'd really appreciate it if you used the link in this video description box, it helps out this channel a lot!
Both bikes are so similar using many of the exact same components the only difference being that ecells ships their bikes for free. Yet there's actually another highly competitive bike on the market for only $2199 for a Dual Battery, Dual Motor, full suspension , 35 mph capable for the Philodo Jumbo it peaks at 1500 watts per motor for 3000 watts total only negative is it's a 48 volt system
@@leetjohnson I actually own the single battery , hardtail version the Philodo H8 and can confirm it hits 35 mph on a fully charged battery. so the upgraded version should be just as fast
@@leetjohnson if you want video proof TailHappyTV aka JuicedJoyrides tested the exact model of bike I own a few months ago, check it out. the Jumbo model is brand new just a couple months old. my bike matches exactly everything TailHappy got in his tests
I have looked into both and to be honest imo the only reason why ecells doesnt charge for shipping is because by the time you get the little extras their bike is way over the asking price so honestly both bike probably come out even in the end but the new wired comes with 2 batteries and upgrades at the same price as the old where as ecells does not and wants an additional 3 or 4 hundred for another one....im getting a wired....especially since I'm in chicago 😁
All fair points! If you don't mind, I'd appreciate it if you use the link in this video description box. It really helps out this channel!! Let me know how you like the bike!!
Luv my blue Freedom, BUT, - them adding so many extras a cpl months later, make us feel like the Tesla owners getting screwed via lowering the cost. The Wired has nicer welds, but the ecells is a much more ridgid frame
My only issue with my Wired Freedom is that the tires are low quality. I had constant flat tires from off road use and had to upgrade the tires. Since I upgraded I have not had an issue.
@@leetjohnson On my "other" 26X4 wheel bike, I went with the Innova Hybrid (thick Carcass) tires and Flat Out sealant. It brought all ride-ending leaks to a complete end. I live where goat head thorns are quite common, and would get more than one flat a month before I made this change. Now, if I get a goat head thorn in my tire, I pluck it out, and immediately ride the bike to allow the sealant to do its job. I maybe lose 1 pound of pressure before it seals. I highly recommend this combination for eBikes. The Innova is also a 30 PSI tire, which reduces rolling resistance. This means less battery juice needed to travel the same distance.
i use FlatOut (it trumps slime) and mr. Tuffy, the tannus makes No sense to me, they soften I er time & take much more energy to roll, as it's less round..
I think ecells top bike is around $5,500!!!! I would never spend that on a bike at that price might as well get a eride pro ss or surron, talaria ect ect but thats just my opinion ✌🏼
One guy with a lengthy history in machine metal engineering and mechanical background, has both bikes. He was interviewd on another channel.. This guy tended to prefer the E Cells frame and rear suspension linkage more. Said it was a bit more sturdy.
I saw that. I don't own the Ecells so I can't say which is better, but I also don't ride my bike on switchbacks and haven't had any issues with any frame flex...yet.
Just a heads up. I ordered a wired freedom about 5 weeks ago. Then I saw a youtube interview of a guy that had both. And it pointed out wired stability issues left to right and rattling. And his difficulties getting it resolved. So I cancelled my order. The company politely said they would cancel and credit me. Then I got to thinking that maybe I should just stick with the Wired bike and give it a try. It seemed like a great value with the extra battery. So I emailed to see if I could reinstate my order or need to order again online. I get an email from the CEO stating that He has a policy that anybody that cancels an order is flagged and banned from ordering again! Holy cow! Can you imagine a company that bans all customers if you change your mind for a product that never even shipped in the first place! BTW, I went to find this youtube video that was very hard on the Wired Ebike and surprise, surprise. It disappeared! Maybe they got some type of financial resolution to take down the negative article. Something is not right about this Wired company and their business model or expertise. Glad I avoided any future problems.
How much does it cost to buy 100k RU-vid subscribers? There are some influencers who absolutely have to be buying subscriptions from a troll farm. The one guy that seems connected to e cells is so incredibly bad and has so few views there is no way most of his subscribers are real.
Probably a guy who’s pretty good with computers. TailHappy has 100k subs but many millions of views. This guy is like one for one. He probably is also buying views for his videos. Really the worst, least knowledgeable and most biased “reviewer” I’ve seen.
You have 2.43 k subs with 434k views. Stay connected EV has 101k subs with 691k views. 😳Tailhappy has 103k subs with 34 Million views. Citizen Cycle has 43k subs with 7.9 million views. Stay connected EV is as fraudulent as e cells ex con owner😂😂😂
Why should I buy either bike especially with regenerative brakes available to the masses really sad state of times Why all don't offer regenerative brakes recharge the battery😢 a little little or a lot, love you all and have a blessed day!!!!😂
Becuase you can only get regen on a direct drive motor. Geared hub motors have a lot more torque but are slightly less efficient and don't have regen. Depends if you plan to climb bigger steeper hills and want fast off the line power, or weaker, longer distance ability.
I get a kick how the owners of Wired Freedom, to give themselves some level of credibility, claimed E-Cells 5 Star Copied Wired Freedoms Frame. Actually E-Cells 5 Star Copied the Super Monarch’s Frame that is also made by E-Cells. And E-Cells Super Monarch has been around for over 5 years. So the Wired Freedom and E-Cells 5 Star both Copied E-Cells Super Monarch Frame. Why is it a Crime for the same company to use the same Frame on more than one of its models of bikes. It seems the owners of Wired e-bikes started the rumor that the E-Cells 5 Star copied the Wired Freedoms Frame with their reviewers to give their company some credibility. Lying seems to be what the Lawyer Owners of Wired e-bikes do the Best. Just read their web site info.
Like buying a Magicycle pro when Ariel Rider came out with the Kepler.. People couldn't wait and got a magicycle instead of waiting for a few weeks to get a Kepler. Big mistake.
@@leetjohnson Now Goat bikes upgrading their bikes to go a bit faster. The Goat bikes may be a cheaper alternative for people thinking of a Graffiti X bike at $1,500 less.
@@JohnBabcock-qy1cs When discussing 40+ MPH bikes, the Goat is certainly worth including in the discussion. The only downside is it is less "bicycle looking" than either the eCells or the Wired Freedom. For some people, this can be important. I have to get past the gates on a Military base. I don't know how hard it will be to convince them the Goat is an eBike, as versus a "moped". If they deem it a moped, then it demands a tag and insurance to roll it onto a military base. It also requires the rider have a "motorcycle safety Foundation (MSF)" training certification as well.
Just look at Ecell's website and how jumbled and difficult it is to navigate. From my recollection, it also has spelling and or punctuation mistakes. So I could easily see the owner posting a comment filled with errors.
i like the look of the wired bike but there is a lot i like about the e-cells with the dual crown option. the good thing is this benefits the customer whichever one they get. the sad part is when things get ugly and politics get in the way based on brand - like ford versus chevy, microsoft versus apple, or a sports team versus another, etc. i think there may be more toxicity within the wired camp bashing people deciding on e-cells. just trying to get an objective perspective on things as a potential customer should not mark one as a “fanboy” of either brand. if you can afford it get both. but if you had to pick one, it should be based on informed decisions as a personal choice. not because there is only one way in life to do things right in life like a cult or a religion. but the customer should be happy with what they got and have excellent support o whichever one they end up choosing.
it's a timing thing, the ecells was introduced after the Wired (Luv my blue '24) then they added the upgrades & i plan to get the ecells with several options.
Battery replacements are too expensive. Battery life averages 2 years. I would rather replace a fuel filter for a couple of bucks then have to replace an expensive battery. Looks cool but can't judge a book by the cover.
Luckily I don't have to judge them by their cover. I've owned many ebikes over the years, the batteries last many years...no idea where you got the idea that the battery only lasts 2 years. My oldest bike is 7 years old and had over 4,000 miles on it, same battery that it came with. It has degraded a bit but still works fine.
Ecells is clearly just chasing Wired. Competition is good, and Wired continues to innovate to stay ahead. I've loved every one of the hundreds of miles I put on my '24 Freedom. No need for post-purchase service so far but they replied quick when I asked for a sold-out t-shirt 🙂
The CEO of E-cells reminds me of a snakey used car salesman. To leave comments like that is unprofessional and is a turn off for me on the E-cells brand. I ended up buying a new Wired Freedom and should be delivered at the end of June. With very similar bikes it came down to trust for me and honestly i don't trust that guy or his company.
I feel the same way. I have a Freedom on order, I'm in NC and they didn't charge me any sales tax, with a $50 discount code, I'm all in at $2149 for the new Freedom Plus.
To be fair, he is a proud business owner. I get that, but running down someone who predates your product gets old. Let the product speak for itself. I have a 24 Freedom, haven't had an issue and am quite satisfied.
Are you sure? When? Where did you hear/see this information? Is the free shipping finally getting to him? I can't imagine he would do that right now with the battle between the two companies...
He posted in the ecells group on FB. But he’s not doing it to be greedy or charging for shipping. It’s due to a tariff thats being implemented on some Chinese imports in a few weeks, which is going to increase the cost of the bike.
@@nyclatinpapi Joe Biden is imposing new tariffs on some Chinese Imports. If it affects E-Cells it will affect all E-bikes imported from China which is just about all E-bikes. Thank You Joe Biden. Those that Vote for him are to blame!!!
E cells entire marketing strategy has been to copy, bad mouth and lie about Wired. The fact that these claims are coming from a convicted felon and proven liar should make everyone pause. Regardless, the new Wired bikes easily outperform the E cells with 1000 more watts, a true thru axle fork, and full UL compliance. The e cells only has a top speed of 36-37mph vs 41mph for the new Wired bikes. E cells also has a F rating with the BBB.
Do you get paid for your vitriol and disinformation, Mr. Jiffy? Ecells is an older company than wired, wired has been a copycat company up until they’re very last iteration.. and for the very first time they have an edge due to their controller. The fact that the owner has served time should not matter to you since you probably have as well or you’re just lucky that you haven’t been caught. To be honest with you my biggest problem with Ecells is their wrapping themselves in the Bible on their web site.
The gossip on the Ecells owner are very inaccurate & misleading. Before making comments about his past it is best to have the facts & confirm your sources.
