Full bore a lot of the way. My hardest effort for at least a year. I blame/credit the nuts (not mine, the man with a super abundance of watts). And Alan & Peter of course. The three put in fantastic effort to town us.
It felt as if I was about to blow a gasket even before getting to the first climb. Thank heavens the descent allowed a bit of recovery,
I don't know what such extremes do to an over-the-hill, past-its-Use-By body. I couldn't fix it if it broke, the body I mean. And mercifully I don't think it did break.
The EIB (asthema) was really intrusive. The 5 second lag that I get too.
Art had been riding before, he stepped in because Jim couldn't join. So not surprising that he dropped back on the climb at 15km 20:30.
However from about then on, I felt the strongest magnet from him pulling me back to join him.
On the Doc's orders, I hadn't cycled for a while, so this was like being shaken awake by the ceiling falling down.
