A house fire broke out in the early hours of July 13, 2024, in Mount Carmel, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. The fire was reported at approximately 1:47 a.m. on West 7th Street, with crews dispatched to the scene shortly after.
Police were first to arrive with smoke showing on the rear of the structure, shortly after they reported flames visible. While waiting for fire departments to respond, due to them being volunteer, the local police began making sure everyone was safely out and helping neighbors move their vehicles out of the way.
Although no injuries were reported, one firefighter had a close call when they began falling through the floor, prompting a mayday call and their subsequent rescue.
The Red Cross has been notified, and the state police fire marshal will handle the investigation.
