My comment is very straight forward and proven by everyone’s response so far. Outside of the weight is this a bad car? Maybe not what you’d like as a true M car but when has an M car ever been a hybrid? Hell BMW has bastardized the M division for years now. Everyone should wait for the driving impressions before they say it’s an overall garbage performance sedan … just my opinion.

@@adambarnett4509 first off you shouldn't tell people who you have no clue about what they can or can't afford second of all I can tell that you didn't do your research on this because it's a m5 that's actually a joke they increased the weight by 1000 pounds while adding only 100 horsepower nothing can make up for that and real drivers understand this and so does the customers for a performance sedan such as a m5. BMW made the same mistake and Mercedes with the new c63 that absolutely failed big time they are not considering what there customers actually want.

Most of these people crying and quoting weight will never drive a M car. M2 and m4 are heavy as shit and they feel great besides the piss poor stearing feedback. Driven a M2 and own a M4. Without a scale most people wouldn't even notice it weighed that much more, you'll see.

@@adambarnett4509 okay first of all this is funny because in my family we have a total of 4 m cars and I have driven plenty and I’m not saying this to show off I’m saying this so you know what I have driven including the g80 m4 like yours but what your saying is completely wrong how weight doesn’t matter first off the g80s are in the 4000s Ibs which they increased both the weight and power from the previous gen but made up for it with the increase in power but what’s funny is once you get into the 5000s like this joke of a m5 while barley increasing the power…. Its weight is as much as a x7 as well.. if you drive this cars how there meant to be it is very easy to see how that is a no bueno

It's a damn shame they retained the original rear door panels. The widebody crease on the rear wheel arches scream cost cutting like no other. They did the same thing with the G80/G81 M3 (Touring). With the current pace of heavy weight cars you might consider a lorry license to be just ready for what's next. Btw, BMW. I'd happily replace any automotive designer that's currently employed at your design studio. I don't need to get paid for it either.

I have mixed feelings about the grille design. The 2025 BMW M5 seems like a good choice, but its grille design reminds me of those GTA cars that seem to avoid copyright infringement.

plug-in hybrid is such a lazy implementation. high performance cars like this need to be either strictly ICE or strictly EV, no in-between because plug-in hybrid's battery pack is so tiny that you'll run out of electric "juice" in a single 20-mile trip (discount that by half if any uphill climb is involved), then once the battery is depleted, you're essentially stuck with that dead weight until the next charge session.

they added electric motors to add HP to the v8, but add so much weight that it pretty much negates it, while ruining the handling. hustling backwards. The f90 was a legit supercar slayer but this is just not. I would have been happier with just the v8 by itself even if it came out to only 530 hp

Ok, it’s 2.5 tons, but damn it’s really nice looking imo, it’s fat and in your face the way a bmw m car should be, I own a c63 6.2litre and damn that think screamed, but averaging on 13-18mpg I got sick and tired filling it, this thing has a 4.4 v8 which is unheard of these days, + with the electric motor it should do some decent mpg! Really looking forward to this gen of m5! And anyone that has test drove this has said it doesn’t feel like 2.5 tons….. what’s not to like! + rear wheel busiest! ❤

When I look at the competitor: Mercedes Amg GT 63 S e performance. It has got 843 hp, 1.470 Nm and weighs 2.380 kg. 2.8 seconds 0 to 100. Even the new M5 Competition probably won‘t get there. Quite deceiving.

the front end I think I will end up really liking at some point, though I wouldn't say I *like* like it just yet. Definitely not a fan of the rear though. Pretty horrible IMO. But it seems that most M cars I initially hate, and then they grow on me pretty significantly. I hated the most recent M3, but I love it now. But the weight is a shame... I hope it's got some clever tricks up its sleeve to mask it. Looking forward to the first test drives

Looks great (at least in black, or the darker colors), still has a V8, and should drive better than the Mercedes-AMG 63s that have been coming out with hybrids. Hell, it's even lighter than some of them even at 5400lbs. It's a weird time in the automotive world, but one could certainly do worse than this new M5. And If I had the means I would be very excited to buy one.

Why take away the LAST connection to the transmission? If you're turning, and can't get the paddle, the shifter was a brilliant way to, you know, SHIFT. I think BMW is so afraid of Tesla, they're slowly removing ALL controls. No thank you. Yes, I'm putting the same comment in every video.

I got an Idea... Get the fkn 5 series with a B58 and AWD and tune it to 600BHP and you are done. A 5 series faster and quicker than this m5. It wont need more power since it wont have the extra 600kg from the hybrid system.
