@@doomsday9973A versa may not have the HP, the high price, high insurance and maintenance cost, subscription cost, or let you brag to others how much money you wasted, but its a lot cheaper to buy, own and to maintain. My daughters 2012 versa has 180k miles and still runs great. And when she bought it new in 2012 it cost tens of thousands less than any BMW at the time, and 2024 versas still do.
There is a really insightful reddit post that highlights how much cost cutting they did to this X3 generation. Here is a list of what happened: 1 - Comfort access is gone on rear doors 2 - Tailpipes gone from 30 models 3 - Ambient lights gone from rear doors 4 - Ambient lights are gone from door pockets 5 - C pillar is plastic and used to be leatherette 6 - Door tops and dash plastic or fabric 7 - Door handles and buttons went from metal to plastic 8 - The door grabs plastic. The funny thing is that the front is gloss, and the back and rear are plastic. The actual window controls are plastic now. 9 - MSport steering wheel airbag cover plastic 10 - The lower dash used to be rubberized, material now plastic 11 - Footrest and trunk scuff plates went from metal to plastic 12 - The sunroof doesn’t open. it's now a panoramic roof
Ohh, and the price has gone UP, and BMW will sell every single piece of info they have on you, including your fcking FACE... Fools and their money, lol
Thanks for the rundown. The interior photographs well but we obviously can’t tell all the material choices from looks alone. My wife wants to upgrade from her CRV to a BMW for her next car, so we’ll keep these things in mind when we get a test drive.
@@LJ-wo1wf you would be far wiser to look at Acura or Lexus than bmw. I own a bmw and an Acura. This is our third Acura but the BMW is our first and last.
Since the 2000s this is a common response to new incoming bmws models. Seems like the company cannot make everyone happy, but hey, they sell a lot, so probably this response is words only, because sells says otherwise.
Thanks for pointing out the privacy settings. Most wouldn't even visit the menu throughout their whole ownership, and car manufacturers are counting on that.
Im glad they remind me its an X3 every time I look down to use my capacitive touch door lock control, might forget otherwise. Illuminated at night too, nice! Cant wait to put my starbucks in my M cup holder! Motorsport!
As much as I agree with you, you don't realize how nice backlit buttons are until you sit into a Rav4, where the late 2020s models didn't have backlit lock/unlock :D
If BMW has a camera with facial recognition analysis (which is all a bunch of the brown stuff), imagine how much they are spying on you and how the CCP love BMW for sharing... I can already see the BMW X3 failing to switch on because it didn't see any emails in you mailing apps which confirms that you had your 30th booster...
The worst part of it is when they try to pass off all-touch-infotainment controls as "luxury." How dumb do they think consumers are? It's way cheaper to have one identical screen across the entire lineup and no buttons and wiring and different molds. Consumer is 100% worse off and they feed us BS like it's better for us.
doomsday bro is such a bmw bootlicker, would probably sell his mother for a F10. he’s defending bmw so hard that he had to do mental gymnastics and thank tesla. don’t get me wrong, bmw’s are great pieces of engineering, the older ones (even 4-5 yrs ago) are also a beauty, but that dude is such a loser
I like buttons, but they went with the Tesla minimalism design, and this is when they have no idea what a 70k car buyer wants. They'll probably lose the higher end buyer
Just look at Tesla sales. Consumers are indeed EXTREMELY dumb. If you tell them that blatant cost-cutting is "premium" they will believe you with no questions asked.
They even cost cut down to the tires. You're dropping $85,000+ on a new 5 series and you're getting Hankook tires (not to knock them too much, but you used to get Michelin/Continental/Pirellis)

I swear, the designers and upper management are like, "let's see what atrocity we can get away with this time." but I don't just blame them, i blame the dumb consumers that will buy anything as long as you slap a bmw logo on it.
Don't forget the "cybersecurity" on the steering rack - which is of course BMW's way of getting around right to repair laws - now they can claim independent workshops can't replace your steering rack because of "security concerns".
Idk what the hell BMW is thinking with their headlight design. They had the most identifiable headlights in all of automotive with the four halos. It was fine when they mixed that up a little with squaring them off, but now they're gone, could be any brand. Just maddening.
for better or worse, bmw is more of a mass market brand than they previously were. Also, from my perspective they have spent a lot of time and money developing their power-trains, and chassis architectures. I may be in the minority but I feel like they've been doing great work, they are not only car makers but stewards of the automobile. Sure a button or panel may feel a bit cheap but overall the cars are still well built, very efficient (for their class), and are more reliable than ever.
@@doomsday9973 Two wrongs don't make a right. It's a bad idea in any vehicle at any price. Other cars having them is a terrible justification. You're in a ridiculous number of comments here excusing every possible fault on this vehicle. Being such a shameless Stan is a bad look, my dude.
People who buy this types of cars, sometimes I wonder where they work, because I've been a doctor for more than 8 years and I have still not gotten my dream car.
Of course this type of cars are not meant for salary earners because salary job is just like modern slavery. You work for 8 years and you couldn't buy a car
You work for 8 years and you couldn't buy a car while some people are just investing little coin in the stock market and they're making millions of dollars.
The interior screams of cost cutting. The lack of hard buttons and endless submenus is infuriating. As a G01 owner, I will be looking at different brands for my next car.
Drove my 01 525i m sport to my sisters last night and it is still such a pleasant cabin for a relaxing night time cruise. 415 000km on the original engine and trans.
At this point i wonder if its intentional. „You peasants have to look at the ugly colossus ho ho ho. Me? I have the ride of my life hrmpf yes quite exquisite“
Being a little overdramatic, are we? Is that really ugly or are you being a pretentious donkey who think they know what tf they even talking about? Lol
I honestly had no problem with the last-gen BMW 3 series interior. It was clean and functional (before LCI), and while it wasn't the most interesting, no interior is "interesting" anymore after the honeymoon phase. You just get in, and hope that things work and feel solid. This generation's interior looks very cheap in comparison. Glad they're not refreshing the 3 series any time soon. Long live the sedan!
I don’t hate it after using it in person, but i can’t help but think about how Hyundais have a similar design while appearing more impressive. Even if the resolution isn’t any higher or anything, it looks just as nice if not nicer. Of course i’m still going to choose a Bmw over it for many reasons, but the gap has significantly decreased over the years. One look at the new Santa Fe and you’ll start to wonder why the Genesis brand exists
@@papa_ptOverall 8.5 is a better system from the infotainment point of view. I also dislike the lack of buttons, but for the average person they set it to auto and forget it. Also you can talk to a lot easier than ID7. I have ID7 and played around with 8 and 8.5 and while I do not favor the screen HVAC, the system overall is pretty nice.
Exterior redesign is fine and definitely doesn't bother me as much as most people. However, interior quality seems ridiculously cheap looking for a BMW. I'm worried to see what BMW does with the upcoming X5 coming in the next few years. Feels like the German's have gone all in on charging a premium from less and less quality. Thanks for the thorough review.
Your thoughts match mine exactly. Throw in the panoramic roof that doesn’t open and it’s just disappointing. I was thinking of waiting for the new gen X5 but it seems this is the direction they are headed for all models and I’d rather current gen X5.
BMW Group's Design Director, Adrian van Hooydonk, said that all future models will have the same "look and feel" irrespective of powertrain type, which indicates they'll all look like the Neue Klasse concept cars. I hope you like retro exterior styling with cloth covered, reclaimed textile, ESG-pandering interiors. Side note: recent spy shots of the next X5 revealed heavy "Neue Klasse" design influence.
@@CharlesBojanglesWell they can beat it. They are crumbling in the Chinese market which is the intended market for this product. They are delusional like every other CEO in this industry. Have you heard about Stellantis? 😂
I’ve owned 3 X3 and loved them all. Is one of the best all round vehicles at their price point. Sold my G01 and when I saw the new model, just skipped it and moved to the X5. I simply can’t stand how it looks outside and the interior approach.
Exactly. And even some nice features were removed like folding the rear seats from the trunk, led stripes on the back doors, board computer/headlight controls from the turn signal switch.
For most people, the point of owning an expensive luxury vehicle, apart from its engineering, drivability, and the latest tech it offers, is being able to admire its beauty every day and wanting to be seen in it. However, this is not one of those vehicles!
RIP Jack. I didn't realize he was sick. He will be missed. 😢 Edit: I'm assuming he passed away. Why else would he miss a review of a vehicle with a B58?
I love the soft rock intro to this, really makes me feel like I just leased this to drive around my 4 kids that I hate at the age of 59 while thinking about the good times
Which one, the Pre LCI, Pre ID7? Or the Pre LCI ID7, or the LCI. I think the LCI looks frumpy and the interior with ID7 looks just as frumpy. ID7 is night and day compared to what the OG G01 X3 had, but its dash integration was NOT great!
Good god it’s hideous. Inside and out. The exterior is awkward and over styled and the interior is cheap and soulless with the plastered on TV screens. Absolutely hate it.
Unfortunately we no longer live in a world that is solely dominated by western culture and this new design language show this. BMW's new design language heavily caters to the chinese market.
Great review as always Savageese! ❤ After watching several reviews of the new X3, it’s clear that many share the same concerns: ‘Plasticky,’ ‘Looks cheap,’ ‘Expensive,’ and ‘Ugly.’ BMW could have avoided this by keeping the traditional high-quality materials in areas like the doors and gear selector while updating the tech, such as the screens and overall aesthetics. That balance would have easily addressed the complaints.
I prefer the looks and feel of the old car. I don’t now where BMW is heading,. Even the Dacia Bigster offers a real sunroof.

I think the previous 5 series was the pick of interior design and usability from BMW. Everything was in place, a lot of physical knobs and buttons for every function, great materials, fit and finish was perfect. These new era BMWs feel cheap, feel like Chinese car, even driving dynamics are not as good any more, especially handling...
I really do not understand the appeal of luxury vehicles that make basic tasks a hassle. I want something that just works. The boomers who can actually afford these cars will be confused, I just don't understand who this is for.
I had an accord years ago. Trust me it’s miles apart in interior, sound system and drive feel. Accord is a great car don’t get me wrong but this is another class. I would go see it and drive it in person.
Another option to consider, for the same money you can get a Porsche Macan T....with Analog gauges, a 1 layer Infotainment system, almost no driver safety aids, and steering, braking, handling and power-train that is almost beyond legendary. Sometimes you just pay more to get less of what you "might" need and more of what you "really" want in a driving experience.
So they have massively cheapened the material quality both inside and out. Increased the price. Made it uglier. Uses the same hybrid B58 system from the 240 and 340. You can't even option the B&W audio system, and somehow this is now a 50? and its increased in price to $75 grand? What a piece of shit. Get the previous gen for 2/3 to half the price depending on mileage. They even are watching you on a camera now to sell your data, and I bet you still have to pay a monthly subscription to the BMW app to access its features such as remote start etc when they are making money off you already without you even knowing it. This is ass.
@@faheemabbas3965 He destroyed the company by generating record after record in sales figures, making BMW the most selling premium brand in the world right now you mean?
Wow, if you just listened to this video without looking at the thing with your own eyes, you'd think this was the best looking, hottest, and sweetest midsize suv on the market. But then you actually look at it and say, nope!
Hey guys, can u do another review on the regular X3. The x3’ is fun to watch but most ppl get the regular version. Would love to hear what u think about the way it drives, especially compare to the previous gen. The last gen has pretty bad turbo lag, lots of wind and road noise. Hope the new one is better in those areas.
Best review of the X3 M50 yet. It’s exactly what I wanted to know. Summary in my book is… exterior and interior much worse than it predecessor, but the drive is better.
Thank you for a nice review! I ordered a M50 and will take delivery in a month. Coming from 2012 X3, 2015 X1 and 2018 X3, this is perfect to get me some NEW experience. I test drove the M50 yesterday, really great!
This BMW is perfect for the middle class willing to go into debt for an unreliable luxury grocery getter to prove their socioeconomic status is above their middle class neighbors
I don't think luxury cars are unreliable lately per say...on avg making it to 75k miles without MAJOR issues. But the price tags screams six figure salary that alot do not have 😬.
Unpopular opinion but I would rather have the slower Genesis GV70 3.5TT. I much prefer Genesis interior and exterior design. GV70 interior has physical buttons still and higher quality materials inside.
Totally agree. My G70 was having a sunroof TSB so they gave me a GV loaner for a few weeks. If I was ever to buy an CUV, it would be that. And time has shown Hyundai's V6's are reliable. Their 4-bangers? Not so much.
The BMW naming convention is getting out of hand at this point… m50 used to mean v8 and m40 i6 b58. It’s getting hard to keep track of even as a BMW fan
I have not seen this in person yet, but other reviews are saying that there is way too much interior plastic...even in this uplevel trim. And with this being in the $70k range, too much plastic is not good...not even having reachable handles to fold down the rear seats...come on. And the tech seems to just have too many things buried. It's just not usable while driving. Certainly, getting things set just the way you like them up front helps, but modifying them will require you to pull off the road to avoid hurting yourself or someone else. How does this make a touchscreen any better than a haptic touchpad?
Nice job boys.. I have a previous gen X3 M40i and I think its the best in class for the segment. I'm lukewarm on the new interior/exterior design at first glance. I lament the darth of physical buttons. I know the complex systems of today require touch controls for most things, but I wish manufacturers would recognize that most of us want the basic HVAC and audio controls to be physical buttons that are easily pressed via memory, without having to look down at a screen.
