@Car Confections, I Categorically Disagree with this Air Ball Segment: The 2025 Equinox RS obliterates everything in it's Class in that Cabin. The 2025 Equinox RS with the Piano Black on the door, Piano Black on the Console, the incredible material design on the Dash that Mason Mocked, the Stylish up to date Dual Screen Control Panel, the Panoramic Sunroof, the Red & Blue Stitching, the Comfort of the Steering Wheel, the Piano Black around the Controls of the air & heated seat settings, etc... The Luxurious and Sporty look of the Chevy Equinox RS is unmatched. I can literally go on for hours of how much more fantastic the 25 Equinox RS is over it's rivals. I've researched cars to purchase my daughter for over 6 months, waited until the 25 Equinox made it to a lot, tried it out: Purchased a Loaded Grey 25 Equinox RS for my daughter 3 weeks ago for College, The Best money I've spent to date!
I'm the proud owner of a 2019 Equinox with the 1.5 , love the new exterior and interior updates but GM needs to make available more engine options. I don't know if you guys are aware but this new 2025 Equinox is available with PHEV powertrain in China and GM announced that PHEV's won't be available to N/A until 2027? What are they thinking? Offer the 2.0 liter Turbo or bring the PHEV piwertrain here sooner!
@stevenangelo737 They are thinking like any financially wise company would, it's a mistake to bring to market 3 versions of the same vehicle (ICE,Hybrid and EV) there is no brand that is doing that, should this be a hybrid? Yes, but with the huge investment into the EV development and rollout they need to see how successful the EV counterpart does before developing a hybrid version for NA.
I drove the 2025 Equinox about 2wks ago it was very nice but OMG that little motors is horribly SLOW especially since the suv is bigger and heavier! I love the new body and upgrades BUT if Chevy doesn’t either make a hybrid or bring back the 2.0 4 cylinder that was in the premier equinox with 260 ish hp I will have too pass on buying one! The Hyundai Tucson hybrid offers the same standard safety features but its has More hp, much better MPG, standard BOSE STEREO and its $1000-2000 cheaper also with a better factory warranty!!!
This carry over engine and the smaller 3cyl turbos is the consequence of GM neglecting its ICE and HEV powertrain development in favor of its fervent EV push. Hence, they don't have HEV's ready to market and their ICE powertrains are lacking. Fortunately for GM, the Equinox will still be a hot seller because the average CUV buyer prioritizes tech, comfort, and fuel economy, and don't give much thought to the powertrain as long as it's fast enough for how they drive.
As the owner of a 2020 LT, yes the 1.5 has enough power for everyday driving even on long uphill stretches. The turbo makes the difference IMO. Other options would be nice yeah, but whatever. Edit: Two thumbs up on this review.
@Car Confections, Everyone doesn't want a Hybrid, it appears you two are mad that there's no Hybrid option. The best Selling Rav4 isn't a Hybrid. Stick to the Comparables.
They aren’t made same …any manufacturer. But you what matters….safety tech. I have a family and no way am I going to have my wife drive a 15 year old car no matter how old tech cool it is. Blind spot , emergency breaking , around view monitor , cross traffic etc etc. It matters. Call it short sighted to say it’s junk. You prolly argue for flip phones too. lol
Took possession of my 2025 AWD Equinox LT with Convenience Pkg II & Safety + Technology Pkg yesterday. AWD/2WD is easily switchable. I am keeping it in 2WD and find the "pick-up" just fine. Michelin tires came with the Equinox and find them a little loud on some roads. (previous car was a Buick w "quiet tuning"). The wiper control seems complex. Had to hunt for a long time on the internet for information about the "infotainment system". No HD Radio. I have an iPhone and wonder how the Google based system will work out (and what the monthly fees will be). Overall solid feel to the Equinox. Thank you for all of your excellent reviews.
It should have apple carplay too. And as for tires it's a first hearing about Michelin tires being on it. I've only seen Firestone and Cooper tires. I guess that's only for my area. I prefer Goodyear.
@@crow_2k11beatsbydre8 My employer used to run Equinox's for our 200+ vehicle fleet (pre '24) and it was a nightmare. Too much time out of service with many issues in the 30-80K mile range. Hope you like driving 20 mph in limp mode.
The interior may not knock your socks off, but, all the human movement when you were pulling into the parking lot, looks like it could knock them off. And, the head movement during shifts looked pretty severe, too.
It's not a problem free engine, but 25k is a very low estimate. It's problems seem to stem from the engineering and cost cutting around it in certain models, rather than the engine itself though. Seems most of its problems come from poor temperature management, either getting to hot and damaging itself, or getting to cold and freezing the turbo (also allowing moisture into the turbo.) False CELs are in the mix as well, which would be more on the electrical side. Most of that should be able to be fixed simply by building better components around the engine itself. How it fairs in this model, who knows. But they have been using it in thr Malibu and Equinox for some time now. We had a 2018 Equinox with the same engine and it was trouble free for the time we had it.
@AHungryHunky No engine is problem free, it is a machine after all. The issues with cooling and heating were addressed and a newer version of the 1.5 was released to correct the problem. I know someone that had a 2019 he used for Uber, Doordash and his regular job he got it up to 170,000 miles without any issues and he recently upgraded to the new model.
What will "Knock your socks off" is that trash motor that's a ticking time bomb...... Chevy makes it to break "Ex Tech" here.... Do yourself a favor, buy a 2018 RAV4, change your oil every 4000 miles, enjoy 🎉
@lilred1107 they are literally engineered to "Fail". Don't trust me, simply do a Google search for "Chevy 1.5 Turbo issues" and a magical thing will happen.
I would buy any compact cross over except the RAV4 if you care about comfort. On coarse pavement highways the tire drone is exhausting. Consumer reports gave it a 2 for noise! Never heard of a score that low. Ever since Toyota took all of the noise dampening materials in the late 2000s and early 2010s there are ALWAYS more comfortable options (has happened in every class). Ignore car confections sound level reading because they use A weighting, which is like wearing the best noise canceling headphones ever designed at low rumbly frequencies. I too was paralyzed into the Toyota/Honda path due to reliability concerns and since switching I've been much happier and have had virtually no issues. Combine that with the deliberate Toyota scarcity at dealers making the true cost of purchase of a Toyota even worse compared to the competition, another thing you will not hear mentioned by car confections
Wait until year end and get a brand new year old one heavily discounted, it works and the vehicle is still brand new and fully warranted. If you plan on hanging on to it that year old thing wont matter anyway ;) .
