Saw one in the flesh yesterday, absolutely stunning! Hyundai have really outdone themselves with the design. Wonder how expensive the panels would be the replace in the event of an accident
The interior looks pretty nice. Really don't like the flat glass HVAC controls. Give me something to physically press any day. Unbelievable value compared to some of its competitors.
Regarding the spare tire, It would've been interesting if considering the unique and boxy design if they mounted the spare tire on the tailgate like the outgoing Landcruiser Prado, even just as a no cost option
Spare wheel position doesn’t bother me. I’ve got one on order and don’t plan taking it anywhere near a proper dirt track that could risk damage to it - have a Ranger for that! Much prefer having the full size spare over a space saver. Great review
I like it tbh, but I'm with you on the diesel. I think a lot of people would have preferred that. Unless I'm wrong the diesel had longer service intervals too. Also not sure of the wisdom of matte paint on what, in many cases, will be a family hack that won't be coddled much. Can imagine it would suffer after a few years of bird shit and baked on grime in a way that gloss paint might not. And I wouldn't take that seriously off road anyway so I'd rather have a full size spare even if it was hanging a bit low (tho it's hard to tell the extent of the problem on video). Will be interested what the V6 goes like.
I’m a fan of diesel as well, but the diesel engine is not good for city driving. Australian cities are getting much more congested, meaning the suitability of diesel engines are getting much smaller now and in the future.

Thanks for a great review. Spare tyre should have gone on to the roof with a small pocket, instead of under the boot. And I don’t like the tyres from factory for Kia and Hyundai, they put all efforts to make the car premium and then kill the tyres.(unknown brands)
Thanks for a great review that’s more thoughtful and thorough than others. I have the tough choice of deciding between a Sante Fe (hybrid or 2.5 petrol), Sorento and ideally the next gen Kodiaq. The current Kodiaq is so much fun to drive plus has plenty of space and creature comforts.
I believe they are having problems with the transmission failing. Since the change to CVT there have been issues. I have the older model with 2.2 turbo diesel, which has been so good performance, economy and reliability wise, shame its gone.
These are the type of comments that see one video headline on RU-vid saying 'Our transmission died on our new Santa Fe' and don't read further into it, but jump to conclusions
@@drivingenthusiastaustralia I drive a WN Caprice V and have had cars with good power most of my life and I just couldn't drive a car that didn't have effortless power.. I don't drive hard, open it up every now and then, but I'd rather have it and not need it than the other way around plus power is a luxury and adds to the experience for sure..
