@ 83.5 years old I ride/rip on a 2023 KTM 300 Erzbergrodeo it's got all the right stuff to go faster than the crash in any terrain, love that bike makes me feel like I'm 38 again~~~~~~~~~go fast take chances~~~~~~~~Braaap!
@@mountainslayer9900a couple spray tins of $5 safety cone orange, and bam... The motocross bike of your dreams. It's not like the motorbike makes any difference. It's all in the color. That's what makes you a better Rider 😂😂😂
I love how you tore the bike down and checked everything and greased all the joints before even riding it, you are just like my Dad was when I was racing motocross, I just wanted to get on and go but he always tore them down and checked everything before he would turn me loose. Also good to know about the tubes...I had never thought of that.
Hell ya. Great vid. I just got 2025 300 hard enduro. Did a soft ride today with the wife. To learn a few things. But tomorrow gonna rip it. Bike is fantastic 👍🇨🇦
The people complaining about the power and happiness are also the guy that use a rekluse auto and put a left hand rear brake plus a flywheel weight and Michelin extreme gummy with drilled mouse. Wide plush seat and turn the compression to full soft on their bikes. I have been on the trail with those guys. Spend 10k setting up a bike to make just put it in second or 3rd gear never change the whole ride and make the auto clutch do the work. They bypass the hard areas and don’t ride in mud. Too hard on the bike they say. Yes I have met these people. I buy their bikes from them because they haven’t been rode hard and you get a box of new and old parts with them because they put new pistons in at like 50 hours and new tires as soon as the sharp edge is gone. And they buy new bikes at a minimum of every two years but usually every year.
I had a 07 xcw 300. Indestructible. Best woods bike. Wish I would have kept it. The nastier the trail the better that bike was. Made me a better rider.
The new tbi and the previous tpi bikes are almost like cheating ah. They are just sooooo good now. I love that gear selection is almost not important anymore they seem to just pull no matter what gear you are in. You should try the tubliss system. They are brilliant for preventing pinch flats and work well when traction is low as you can go right down to 1-2psi or just run your normal factory pressures if you want. Is that track you were riding at Taikorea down Foxton ways?
Lol i’ve had this conversation with people who are skeptical about new technology and have to remind them that their carb bikes have been seizing and blowing up since well before efi bikes came along. 😂 a friend of mines super reliable and faithful old YZ250 blew up just the other day too lol. Just the nature of dealing with machines, some will fail.
@@WildNZ they had quite a few that lunched the piston due to crank clearance.. and if you understand how to tune a 2stroke they only blow up when u get lazy and let the carby gum up with this shit fuel we get.. l still have issues with my injected 510 but none with the carburetor one. One day i might get it sorted where it runs smooth all through the rev range or that too will get a carby..😂😂
Nice video. I’m like you considering upgrading from a 22 EX 300. I tested the new EX 250 and really liked the motor but especially the fork. I had a spring conversion done (not full closed cartridge). It was a bit better than the air fork but I recall really liking the new fork on the EX 250. What do you think of the suspension?
Definitely worth it! I had a 6500 conversion done on my 22 EX250 and it was awesome but I do think I like the suspension on this a little bit better. That might be because it’s a little more plush from stock then my 6500 kit was. But yeah the new stock closed cartridge forks are awesome!
@@maxflight777 I don’t really pick a brand to be honest. Just any heavy duty or ultra heavy duty. Normally IRC or Pirelli seems to be at my local bike shop
Just put in a set of heavy duty Pirelli tubes. I ran ultra heavy duty tubes last year and they worked great. Have considered trying a mousse in the rear but never got around to it.
Oh forgot to mention that the gearing is all stock at the moment which is 14-48. I’ll run it for a bit and see how I like it. I might end up changing the back to a 49 or 50 but we will see. Thanks mate!
@@Billy-burner The 25 got adjustments to the frame and swing arm to make the bike more forgiving. It’s otherwise exactly the same just a little bit more comfortable. The SX is a moto bike so has close ratio gearbox, smaller tank, 19” rear wheel etc where as the XC is a off-road race bike so has a wide ratio gearbox, larger tank, 18” rear wheel etc.
@@WildNZ reckon the xc tank would fit on the sx? It's a heap ton cheaper. Looked at the parts fiche and the tank is only $390 delivered. Not too fussed on the stiffer suspension and the short ratio box.
I had a pair of Carapaks on my last bike and thought they were awesome. I’ve ordered a set of MOTOES this time. They look similar to the Carapaks but were a better price so will see how they go.
If this is bogging no wonder there’s been complaints about them….. cause coming from owning/riding 23,24 ktm 250xc and yz250 that bike ain’t bogging. It might be loading up abit as he seems to be riding a higher gear in soft sand
I had a set of Carapaks on my last bike and they were great. I’ve ordered a set of MOTOES to try this time as they look similar to the Carapaks but at a better price.
@@WildNZ ... But you live in Aus right ? OK , NEW ZEALAND these bikes are around 12,400 OTD in the USA. I don't see how we could afford 18,000 , when 12,000 is costly
The reason you get a light weight tube is because it offers the best handling / bump response and steering feedback by far. Anything else is single purpose at the expense of all the above. To lower the chance for flats. That's it.
@@bossmonkey1126 That might be the one positive to a lightweight tube but i’ve never met someone who uses a lightweight tube in favour of every other option that better prevents a fatal flat.
@@WildNZ I run (regular) tubes not necessarily lightweight tubes and don't flat any more than people who run (Tubeliss) as a matter of fact that system is expensive, complicated and not that reliable. The mousse bib feel is lacking and constantly changes IMO but is widely used by racers who cannot afford to flat so the bib is the best choice in that situation
I’ve ridden a couple 23-24 300xc’s the only reason I haven’t went to buy one is bc I feel like at first they will rip my arms off in a xc race and two bc I feel like I’ll get used to the power and feel it isn’t enough after a year or 2 of riding it
Totally rideable engines Change the throttle cam from the stock odi white 1/4 turn to the odi black. White map is totally tame for slower speed riding / pea gravel etc. green map big difference in power save that for a year or 2 / dunes or deep sand riding
