The new Orbea Rise is here. And now it's two bikes, the Orbea Rise SL looks relatively similar to the old model with 140 mm front and read. Then there's the Orbea Rise LT with a 160 mm fork and 150 mm at the back.

@EMTB Videos does the new shimano ep801 RS motor rattle on the descents like the ep8?

The bike is nice but too expensive. And the detuned ep801 is a downer. You can have a Cannondale moterra SL with (real)full power shimano and a 601wh battery and comparable specs for 2000 $(canadian) less.

The Cannondale Moterra SL LAB71 has a claimed weight of 19.5 kg and €13.990 RRP. The Rise LT M-Team is about 18 kg and €10.990. Sure, specs aren't the same, but it seems the Orbea has a price+weight advantage. The Rise apparently is slightly weaker though. To get a proper lightweight bike at a good price, it seems SL is the way to go though. Any upcoming cheaper LTs might not be very light. The old Rise H30 140mm was barely sub 21 kg and €5k. If the new Rise SL H30 is about the same price and weight, it should be competitive.

The cannondale lab71 is too expensive, I was talking about the moterra sL 1, that is comparable with the Rise lt m10. If you add the shimano di2 drive train and similar other specs, here in Canada the rise cost 14 000$ and the cannodale cost 12 000$.

Yeah, I guess the prices depends on where you live. American brands might be cheaper in the Americas. In EU, the Moterra SL1 is €9.999 and 20 kg according to flowmountainbike. The european Rise LT M10 is €8.499 and 18.4 kg according to E-Mountainbike Magazine. So, from my standpoint the new Rise seems well priced. But I agree, from your standpoint, getting the SL1 for way cheaper seems much more competitive.

Can you use the orbea rise 2024 also with 85 nm? As far i know its officially not supported? Are the 2024 (EP801 RS) and 2025 motor (EP801 RS Gen.2) just different in the software?

Do you know whether the new internal 630wh battery will be downward compatible with the gen2 540wh battery? Would be great in case of a later battery upgrade

I really don't know. But unless Orbea has made an effort to prevent it, the 630Wh battery should work on the old motor. Will be interesting to see if that's the case.

I don’t understand motor wattage? My 2020 trek rail Bosch ( 85 NM) says just 250 Watts? And it can practically climb a tree!!!

The 250W rule is basically a pedelec/eu limitation. It limits the continous power output. When the motor reaches thermal equlibrium, it can't output more than 250W. When manufacturers says the motor will output 500 or 600W, they're talking about peak power. Most pedelec/250w motors will output way more than 250W peak.

Torque what matters, power is then calculated P = torque* rotational speed.

I really want to get an Obrea as my next eMTB, however they HAVE GOT to simplify their product lines. Already as a prospective buyer, I am overwhelmed by their variations in not just frames, but models, and even motors. Shimano as a whole the indistry is expected to be shifting away from as Baofang has the motor industry on lock, so it's a bit disappointing seeing that they keep sticking with Shimano's lackluster multiple offerings. I for one, do not like all the variances in the Shimano motors. Maybe some people like it, but both Shimano and Orbea product teams seem a bit like they have no real development plan, they're just winging it while the rest of the industry is becoming very focused. And then there's the price ... as the rest of the industry is coming down. With Orbea I'm finding you are paying for the name.
