I've got a spare front wheel which i can use when it's freezing, which is also easy to swap. As long as my front wheel doesn't slide away it's ok. This review is really helpfull though, because a lot of times the morning is slippery and the midday isn't.
Last week i tried out the orbea wild and the old orbea rise. Wild had the 85nm bosch and rise had 60nm ep8. Rise was more natural feeling but the wild gave more support and more fun. I asked an other tester about the new rise with the ep801rs and he said that the new one is stronger but the bosch would still win during a drag race or during a longer climb by providing more support. In this video i see the exact opposite so please help me to understand what is the reality? (I will definitely try out the new rise as soon as it will be available)
Only on ep801, or it can be done via shimano etube profesional to ep8 as well? I m moving to dji motor, shimano does not even has ep801 motors for sale only way is buying a new bike and i own a 2022 160e t1 that want to upgrade to ep801
Please help - Have you solved the problem with E014 error - how to delete the logs - can it be done with this cable? it seems that buying this cable does not offer much more than the E-tube blueatooth connection Please help with E014 - local service cannot do this and wants to send the bike to the manufacturer
I haven't ridden the Dyname system enough to know if it's normal. It might be the battery management system (BMS) is out of sync. In that case, you could try discharging the battery completely and then recharge it and leave it plugged in for a couple of hours. But there could be other explainations. Have you experienced significantly reduced range? If there's a damaged/defective battery cell, it could mess up the BMS.
Okay, I would try running it down and recharging and see if it changes. I probably wouldn't worry as long as I felt the range was okay. But you could ask the dealer or keep investigating it if you're curious.
my 46160 as new is 21 clean amps... when the newer 4680 is just the halv and i think they made 15 amps.. it is impresive .. i hope there is a test out there from random diyers to prove the 15 amps those new cells have.. they will be nice if more than 2000 cycles...
Shimano just added a new update. Can you guys with EP801 check it out? New functions have been added to the assist settings. ・ The "assist carry over function" has been added to the assist settings. This 3-level selectable function allows you to select the duration that assist continues after pedaling stops.* ・ The "assist cutoff function" has been added to the assist settings. This 3-level selectable function allows you to select when the assist cutoff starts near the maximum speed limit.* ・ An aggressive assist character has been added to the assist settings. The characteristics of the existing assist character Lv15 have been changed to be more aggressive.*
Actually the Dyname are practically completely quiet. But the noise level from the chain changes allot if the drivetrain isn’t well lubed. A good reminder to keep the chain clean and well lubed. Wax based lube helps to keep it that way
The duration of the test varies. This time, we couldn't keep it for long. After doing such a review, it usually isn't much left to say in a follow-up review.
Thanks so much for another great video. I would love to see you do this with a Brose ona Levo. I’ve been riding a Bosch for sometime now and recently rode a Levo. It really seems to give you power more easy and I was wondering what the actual data was.
Nope I have over run all the time . Love it!! I don't use the modes setting. I only use the assist levels and switch between them as needed. (This happens a lot less than you would think. On the trail generally level 2 and 3 maybe 4 when I start to get tied) Also derestricted to 35kmhr No more cutting out as I attack small rises plus easy fast transport to and from trail heads. Love this motor Just wish it was a gearbox as well as I do quite a few derailleurs due to my bad habit of following any game trails visible enough see or just making my own way
I notice Bosch cx over-run in all modes except eco. Frankly I'd prefer an app option to toggle on or off. I don't like something moving without my permission LOL
Wonder when Bosch will release a new CX motor, isn't this from 2020/2021, but over the years just software updated? DO you think a cx 5 is around the corner? :)
Yeah, the CX was released for MY20. We first rode it late 2019, so it's 5 years now. And so are some of the bikes that was launched just after the motor. Like the Trek Rail and Mondraker Crafty. It's about time all of these were updated, before 2025 I guess.
@@EMTBVideos I feel i'll wait before i spend several k's in an ebike. Also Norway might ban these now :/ I'm hiring an Orbea Wild 2020 model, has the cx4 and 625wh- I can blame myself, but being 110kg, i get about 30km and 8-900 meters of elevation. I used emtb mode and boost, maybe a bit too much, but i would atleast want 1200+m and 30-45km, but guess i have to slim down then :). Next gen emtb probably want give us leaps in efficiency and lipo battery tech has been the same the last 15 years.
👍So Bosch had little more over run😊. For Shimano to keep up with Bosch in competitions, they must at least go as fast, have the same over run and peek effect. This over run is of great advantage to avoid padel stike and therefore be able to maintain speed😊
I suddenly heard a rumor about a big upcoming Shimano SW update within a few days. So I had to publish this video right away (: Will be interesting to see if they change the over-run.
👍Real interesting test👏😊. I always Wonder why the Bosch engine Wins competitions and perhaps only until now, when the EP801 got this latest "race" update. It would be interesting to know how it is with the "over run" = how long after you stop paddling de engine keep on continues to operate, that I think is the reason why Bosch is wins competitions🤔😉
Nice video 👌 surprised with the results expected the Bosch to trump the Shimano significantly 😮I have heard though the aftercare with Shimano especially out of warranty is not great Bosch look after you a lot better which would be a huge influence in the purchase
Hei. I am thinking of buying a rise m20 or a h30. Will you recommend this bike? I have only had experience with the cube stereo hybrid hpc tm 140 from before.
I've enjoyed riding those. It's not the most stable/capable going down hill at speed. These are light bikes with good good motor performance that are fun and inspiring for "normal" trail riding. And it seems they're nicely discounted these days.
@@koslan2646 I would probably go M20 because of the motor. The 2022 H15 has the older Shimano EP800 while the 2023 M20 has the EP801, according to the specs. But you do get nicer suspension on the H15.
in Europe ,because of the 250 watt limit restriction , 'power 'is compared by Nm or torque . Wattage for pedelecs is irrelevant here , it's ALL about the NM .
The 250W limit is continuous power. The peak power can be much higher and it can be maintained until the motor reaches thermal equilibrium. Peak power can vary between motors even though they're rated at the same torque.
@@siriosstar4789 Yeah, I always assumed the motor brands stated Nm to avoid confusion with the 250W continuous rule. But it seems more motor manufacturers also publish peak power these days.
Yeah, the Wild is about 2 kg heavier and has a bit more travel than the BESV. We didn't succeed in getting more similar bikes. But we think it's okay. They've both got steep seat angles and similar chainstays. Both bikes were nicely balanced for this climb and none had traction issues. Riding the loop, there are many variables apart from weight, travel and geo. There will be variation in line choices and it's difficult setting up the suspension the same as most bikes will have different rear sus designs. So, this test loop is just done to see if we can find any obvious differences.
True , but i think they are talking about 250 watt motors with varying torque . some of the most "powerful" in terms of NMs are - TQ -120 Nm Sachs/BMZ- 112 Nm rocky mountain - about 100 Nm and i think there are one or two new motors coming on the market in Europe with high torque
After my ( and many others' ) Shimano EP8 showed e010 code, I didn't dare going for another Shimano. Almost no one repairs those other than Shimano. I'm back to a Bosch CX performance now, and my heart rate confirms the stronger Bosch :)
I`m on my first Shimano eMTB and my commuter is second time in three years at LBS because of broken CX4 😅 Specialized lasted 2,5 years and 3600km before motor died…
Hi! Is every Shimano EP801/EP800 motor come with same default profiles Eco/Trail/Boost without manufactures custom settings? And are you testing these videos with default settings? What if some other brand has a custom power profile that they use, so is every motor compatible to other brans desition?
I think the Shimano usually comes with Boost set to max. Bosch comes with Turbo set to 0. We increased Turbo to +5, which is max. I forgot to mention this in the video, we're setting everything to max before testing.
I don't give a f which one is the strongest if drivetrain is not compatible with high torque. I have to change a f chain every 1000km which is soo soooo f stupid. Only carbon BELT AND ENGINE WITH GEARBOX MAKE SENSE FOR POWERFUL ENGINES
Hi. I've been trying to improve lately (: You could check out my latest video and see if you think it's noticably better? EP801 vs Performance CX ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YqID2Vdowa4.html
