Priced at $126,895 for the SUV and $131,495 for the Coupe, the 2023 Porsche Cayenne GTS bridges the gap between the Cayenne S ($103,595/$109,995) and the Turbo E-Hybrid Coupe ($163,495). All three models feature the same potent twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine, which delivers 493 horsepower in the GTS.
The new Cayenne GTS boasts a significant power and torque boost over its predecessor, with 40 horsepower and 29 pound-feet added to its arsenal. This enhancement enables the GTS to accelerate from 0-60 mph in a claimed 4.2 seconds, two-tenths faster than the Cayenne S. Its top speed has also increased slightly to 171 mph.
While the Porsche Cayenne GTS offers an exhilarating driving experience, it also maintains the brand's reputation for precision handling. The GTS features a Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system as standard, optimizing the vehicle's suspension settings for both comfort and performance. The optional Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) also plays a vital role in enhancing cornering stability and agility.
Under the hood, the GTS packs a powerful punch. While the V-8 engine eschews any form of electrification, it has undergone a series of significant modifications. The 4.0-liter unit now boasts 25 more horses than its S counterpart, thanks to a host of improvements including increased boost pressure (from 14.5 to 16.0 psi), higher injection pressure (reaching 5076 psi), new electronically controlled wastegates for faster throttle response, a smaller, lighter mono-scroll turbocharger for improved efficiency, and variable valve lift on the intake camshaft for optimized high-rpm performance and mid-rpm fuel economy.
