Or one golfing buddy and their two golf bags, this is certainly redefining the word "truck". And in Canada if this is in fact well over the 100 grand price, the new luxury tax will kick in.
@@larryman2707 what’s the point with that truck? I mean have a 2500HD duramax and don’t haul anything but just to have the option with a huge payload if I want. The ram having absolutely piss poor payload shouldn’t even be aloud to be made!
@@larryman2707 Given what Ram has already created in the last number of years I expect is is correct. One of Rams ideas was to create the 2500 with coil springs and yes from what i am told it does ride good ( a nephew has one and bought it for that reason of ride knowing it would have a lower weight carry ability ) , and the Ram power wagon which the name sounds all impressive but it too is a special build geared around more suspension travel and more compliant. I've not ridden in one but again a friend has one and apparently its ride is quite impressive, however its weight carry number is very low for a pickup and certainly a 3/4 ton pickup. So this fancy dancy truck in this video, no surprise they geared it for ride over being able to haul a load as that is what a number of the high end pickups get bought for, their ride and not what they can haul.
I’ve owned 5 V8 Ram’s including my 2017 Ram, not to mention my Dodge Charger. I’m a Mopar guy and always have been. However, there is no way, and I mean zero chance that I ever get a weak sounding truck without a V8. I’ll be looking at other manufacturers for the first time. I realize they don’t care about my opinion and with that in mind I’ll be happy shopping elsewhere. Congrats, Ram!
No manufacturer will keep the V8s. Government rules will make it imposssible so you better keep whatever V8 you have well maintained to last until you die
Good luck to Stellantis. Vehicles are already piling up on dealer lots. Lets see how many people are lining up to finance a $100,000 truck at 10% interest. LOL
Yeah, they should’ve concentrated on upgrading power and efficiency on the V8. That in-line six is going to rely heavily on forced induction. Gas mileage is going to be terrible under any kind of load and even around town. The stress is going to cause undo wear on items …..it’s just not good to under size an engine.
@larryman2707 This has worked good in the chevy 2.7 turbo. I've seen 190k miles with no issues pulling 7400lbs camper. I wont touch the dodge inline 6 turbo unless its been out for about 3 or 4 ywars to see how it goes.
@@GregKittle Ford will probably drop the 5.0, but GM invested 854 million on creating the sixth generation of V8s. and seeing as the fifth gen lasted about 10 years, I say V8s are still alive
@@robertgrunenwald They invested the money to keep them emission compliant. The 5.7L Hemi is too old to keep going, but instead of updating it for the future, they decided to scrap it. Decision is more from their European ownership that doesn't realize how big a mistake this is likely going to be. Considering Stellantis biggest revenue comes from North America, they may have wished they made another decision.
As a four-year owner of a 2018 Ram 1500, I’ve spent over six months at the dealership due to electronic problems, an engine replacement at 72k miles, and a transmission failure at 84k miles. Reliability of the new Ram just isn’t worth the investment. I’ve poured an extra $25k into repairs on top of the initial $50k purchase. In summary, the new Ram 1500’s reliability doesn’t justify the time and money spent
If those twin turbo i6 engines last 100k miles without exploding or destroying their turbos, the engineers did a good job. Their goal is too sell you an 80 grand luxury truck that lasts 100k miles, junk it, and then you buy a new one.
I’m happy with my 2023 Ram Laramie. Has the sport appearance package and a few others. As drivers, primarily we need the right arm area to be convenient. Meaning, the knob to change gears vs the stick, the knob frees up so much center console space. You have so much freed up space in the center console, I love my Ram. I’m never getting rid of it. The ride is so smooth, didn’t buy a truck to race or fly down the highway. The inside is very nice. Love my truck
The 5.7 Hemi is time tested and proved. Powerful V8 engine, with the 8 speed TorqueFlite transmission (same used in the Rolls Royce), and the 3.92 rear end. All the kinks have all been worked out since 2009, over the last 15 years. The new trucks are going to have lots of problems for years. I’m glad I have 3 - 5.7 Hemi engine trucks in my arsenal. People are going to be pissed they switched before the kinks have all been worn out of the new.
Great video, only problem I have is no more V8. I understand the 2025 has way more horsepower and torque but I don’t need that much for what I do. 395 horsepower and 108 miles an hour is plenty for me.
I don’t think things will change too much. Having a more diverse lineup can help improve market share but I think this Ram will sell just as well as before given all the other updates that will swoon people over what engine it ultimately has.
@ALMX5DP ram is struggling big time. The only reason their sales were high for a couple of years is because they were selling the old "classic" old body style with 15k rebates alongside the new redesign
@@NWI_Steel sales seems somewhat consistent over time so I think brand loyalty plays a big role in how it’ll play out as this model hits showrooms. People do like V8s but Ford has shown that their Ecoboost engines sell extremely well even when they have a fantastic Coyote on offer.
How the heck does payload go from 2300lbs down to 979? I can’t imagine this weighs that much more than even a base 2wd double cab truck but maybe I’m just ignorant to how many bits and features really add in terms of weight.
They use that number for the most basic 2 wheel drive truck that has no options. So you have 4 people weighing 200 pounds you're overweight with 200lb in the truck bed. It's just a truck to drive around and show off with not practical for 100k+.
Ram will lose customers with no V8 option. Ford was smart in keeping the V8. Ford marketing did their homework when they introduced the EcoBoost. They figured out early that customers still like V8s and will shop else where for it.
Agreed and for me I'll take the 5.0L Coyote V8 over the EcoBoost V6 anyday just like I'll take the 5.7L Hemi V8 over the stupid Hurricane Inline Six anyday.
Had lots of Dodge/Ram pickups over the years, including a current generation Limited and a Laramie Limited, and the pricing information (as a fleet buyer) I am getting is a major jump, enough to give me pause, added with no hemi option, and certain Stellantis reluctance with warranty repairs, will mean current trucks will be run longer and not automatically replaced with a similar Ram. Might have re-ordered a couple current generation trucks with a hemi, if that had become a thing.
I have the 2025 limited long horn HO engine and absolutely love the truck. It’s luxurious and very quick. I feel like I’m driving on clouds. Best purchase I’ve made
Inline 6 with twin turbs is great but I'll be the mpgs isn't any better than the old V8. No doubt it has plenty of luxury but that's going to be too up market for me and it can't haul anything.
This was a big mistake getting rid of the hemi instead of refreshing it you just get rid of it this twin turbo will be a nightmare. Hate the etorque it is a waste no one is going to be able to afford these trucks
Looks like Stellantis “Chrysler group portion” is going to go back to being an also run. Jeep has lost its way and now no v8 in the Ram half ton, I don’t know why you would buy a Chrysler product these days.
I'm actually pretty excited about these power trains. I6 's are awesome. But I don't understand why the ol'HEMI couldn't have been a mid-grade option. Would have been a good price shopper option too.
Too bad the V8 is gone. They should have kept it as an option. They will regret this decision. Ford made sure the V8 is still an option or they would lose customers.
I just did an interior search and confirmed that the RAM "luxury" truck still has manual adjustable steering wheel but added power closing tailgate? I can see a powered steering column more useful than a powered up tailgate. Tailgate is already superlite, not sure about the split version, so why is that needed?
What I have noticed is that no one is showing the big horn editing or looking at the underneath, like the placement of the oil filter and oil drain plug. I have a 22 big horn and the oil filter placement is a pain in the butt.
I'm waiting for the Ram Paleo in which they bring back the body style from the 80's with a new leaning tower of power slant 6. Top trim "Stonehenge" has a King cab, base trim "Flint axe" has an animal print shag cover over a vinyl bench seat. Starting at a cool $30k. The only options are power mirrors.
And the Ram Rogan that has truck nutz, spreads conspiracy theories on the speakers nonstop, and drives itself to Austin only to realize Austin celebrated a drag queen running for mayor for two decades.
I will be buying this truck . People are complaining about the engine being an inline 6 but they were some of the toughest ever made in the past. As far as the low payload how much hauling do you really want to do on something this luxurious? Get a 3/4 ton diesel for that.
Over the years I have had 5 Dodge Hemi Trucks. I now drive a 2017 Ram. The Hemi has never failed. My 2017 Ram is the most comfortable riding vehicle I own and a lot of us old ram buyers identified with the Hemi. Should have kept that engine as an option.
I love my 5.7 hemi but I'm excited about the new power from these motors. Ford barely sells V8s and mostly sells Ecoboosts for the F150 and they are the leaders in trucks so even though the V8 will be missed especially when it comes to sound but it won't keep me from buying another Ram especially when I put the pedal down and it moves very quickly and gets better fuel mileage to boot.
Yeah but Ford makes reliable engines. Stellantis never made reliable engines. Yes, the Pentistar and Hemi are decent, but they were not designed by Stellantis. They were designed by an older generation of Chrysler engineers. Alfa Romeo and Fiat engines are absolute junk. Get a Ford with the 3.5 Ecoboost or a Tundra with the 3.4 V6 twin turbo. They are known for making good engines.
@@applianceman6009 actually Ford engines aren't reliable and Ford has more recalls than any other brand. I used to be a Ford guy until I couldn't take having my truck in the dealer so much with issues. That's why I went to Ram and haven't had any issues with my 2 ram trucks that I have owned. I will never go back to Ford. If I switch from Ram I will buy a GMC or Toyota product. Sorry but I strongly disagree with Ford being a quality product. I have known more truck guys leaving Ford than any other brand because of there awful build quality.
Yet both the EcoBoost and the Hurricane won't outlast my good ol 1996 Ford F150 with a 5.0L (302) Windsor V8 nor my 2011 Ford F150 with a 5.0L Coyote V8 in it as well.
Every old hot-rodder knows the mantra “No replacement for displacement”. I just bought a new Ram 2500 with the 6.4 hemi V8. Plan on keeping it forever…
@@angrybeavers1175 you are asking the wrong question. I want a 6 cylinder to get good fuel mileage. Id rather have 400hp and 30mpg then 520hp and 19mpg.
@@Link-we8so you're never gonna get 400hp and 30mpg the new small trucks don't get that Colorado gets like 22 and new Tacoma like 24 your expectations are ridiculous you need a small car
@@angrybeavers1175 Well as the old timers say never is a long time. Chevys 3.0 diesel has the 30 mpg just needs some more power. And those small trucks are disappointing all around
@@jasonthach44 Yeah, but that I6 is made by Cummins and it is diesel. Diesel engines can handle the high pressure and PSI. I don’t want a turbocharged gasoline engine, and this is especially true for one made by Stellantis!!
A friend has the 3.0L Dual Turbo Hurricane in his new Jeep Grand Wagoneer Series 3. That engine is incredible and slaps you back in the seat even in a heavy vehicle like the Wagoneer. The Wagoneer is extremely quiet so there is very little engine/exhaust sound which is the way it should be on this vehicle.
We’ll see where this goes. Sounds like there’s a lot that can go wrong and expensive to repair. I’ve been extremely happy with my 2014 RAM 1500, 5.7 sounds nice drives nice has been very reliable. Maybe the six cylinder is stumbling on something good. But it still feels like they’re trying to reinvent the wheel
I know we will all miss the rumble of the Hemi, but it Ram had to downsize, thankfully they had the foresight to go straight 6. Less complexity/moving parts and traditionally the most reliable type of ICE. RAM didn't need a ton of updating outside of additional power and a nip/tuck refresh. Now....about those HDs RAM! LETS GET TO IT! Looking good in that suit next to that luxed out Black Ram!
The fact that ram got rid of their V8, is a sign of being a WEAK company. GM seems to keep their V8’s… huh. And nobody cares about ram HD’s. Their gonna be $100K dollars, IF THAT. I own 3 mechanic shops in the states of Texas, Tennessee, and Louisiana, with multiple brothers and sisters, so an extremely big family. Since you were bragging about how much money you had in a previous video, I bet if you double your money, you won’t even come CLOSE to the big bucks I got, buddy boy. So get your ram loving self off of RU-vid. Chevy is rated #1 at comfort, convenience, ride quality, engine power, torque, HP, overall quality, design, etc. and ram just keeps on SLIPPING TRANSMISSIONS. If ram is so “great”, then how come CHEVY SILVERADO sales BEAT ram? Explain that one. You know NOTHING about trucks, so cry harder. And for ram to get rid of their V8’s, is like all dentist offices getting rid of all of their equipment, with a pathetic replacement. I don’t care if you think the hurricane would be a good, even better engine than the hemi… THEY GOT RID OF V8’S. A REAL MANS truck should DEFINITELY be offered with a V8. This is the end of ram AS WE KNOW IT. THEIR IS NOTHING YOUR GONNA DO ABOUT IT. CHEVY WINS. ALL THEIR IS TO IT.
The luxury is over the top, as well as the price; what I don't see is proportional increase in price per content, the price increases (over the last few years) are exponential as opposed to linear. These things are just too much (and you're seeing this with dealer inventory not moving).
I’m interested in how the new I6 performs. I bet the high output will be a rocket. I see a lot of comments about the ram vehicles piling up on the lots. I hope everyone realizes they put extra shifts on to make more trucks before releasing the 2025. I’m not brand loyal but I am loyal to my wallet and what functions I need. I recently bought another ram (I’ve had 2 before this no problems). I cross shopped with the GM equivalent and due to lack of discounting the GM would have cost $15k more. I’d like to look in 3 years what the reliability is on the 2026 rams after the initial growing pains are done. All of these companies have some problems after a major refresh it seems.
979lbs of payload is plenty for one of these. Even with a full family of 5 say 600ish pounds you still have a whopping 380 pounds for Starbucks and a few bags of mulch from Home Depot.
Agreed and TT too. It’s power packed fun young, but this motor is strung like a small heart with high blood pressure with the 310lb mammoth of a body. Short lifespan. I have money for Ram, but not here.
Well I just went from a diesel to a gas v8 Ram and that was really different but come on guys 500+HP out of a Straight 6 is awesome yeah I know it doesn’t sound like a V8 but it sure as F#%k got more HP and it will blow pass most V8’s too
Beautiful truck Here in Australia we pay soooooooo much for American made trucks as they have to convert from left to right They do an out standing job though I have a 21 RAM LIMITED So happy with it. I don’t know that I could part with my V8 though for a turbo 6 I think I would have to go 2500 which again will be a ridiculous price to pay.
Wonder if the leaking 3rd brake light has finally been fixed. What's with low profile tires.. isn't this for job sites and work. Feel every bump in your spine with those tires.
Hey folks, when you check all the boxes on the options lists, your overall payload for any given trim will take a hit a noticeable hit. It's a given. You will need to decide which equipment you can live without to achieve maximum payload for your desired configuration.
For anyone that's wondering 1.8 kilowatts is 15 amps at 120 volts. So in other words it gives you all the juice that a standard 15 amp circuit will give you.
My bet is it will be a great Failure. Blown turbos, head gaskets, ect. No reliability. It could be done but would require a lot of expense , which I’m sure they won’t do . Should have put a 440 in them.
