I have a 2016 Toyota forerunner, trail edition, it’s now eight years old, I will never sell it, I have a 2 inch lift, KDSS Suspension, 265-70-17 Cooper all-terrain tires, I consistently get just over 20 miles a gallon at freeway speeds and 18 to 19 in the city of Tucson. A friend of mine he has one and he put Goodyear all-terrain 10 ply tires on his 285-70 -17 Tires on it he went from 19 to 20 miles to the gallon down to 15, if you wanna mess up your gearing, your performance, your torque curve and ride quality do that, like he said, yeah, but it looks good.

They really missed the mark not keeping that v6. V6 hybrid should have been the way first instead of a 4cyl. 😞

I believe by now Toyota will have the engineering down much more. I suspect less bugs and recalls, but it is a new model so having some recalls is inevitable.

After seeing this, I'm glad I bought a 2024 TRD ORP. The 2025 TRD ORP will push the $60,000 mark.

Turbo engine is the only downside. Naturally aspirated V6 is a bullet-proof engine that gives 3 to 4 mpg less than Turbo. But, will easily go to 300k with basic maintenance.

It's going to be hard for Toyota to live up to the previous engines as far as reliability, but I believe Toyotas engineers will surprise us as they continue to develop and perfect this engine.

The 4.0L V6 hasn't always been bulletproof. The head gaskets are known to fail in the early 4th gen 4runners basically requiring a new engine if not caught before it overheats. I average 16mpg with my 2008 4runner. If I can average 22-23, that's a huge win.

I'm excited, but hoping the horrible rust problems that have plagued my 2nd, 3rd and 5th generation models will be better. I almost swore off Toyotas for good. Thoughts?

@@wrecksy2388 I can’t get away from Toyota.. it’s been embedded into me since birth lol. Besides I love the exterior styling too much.. and now that Toyota has finally came to play with the interior and performance, I’m locked in!! As far as the rust issues, I really think it’s highly dependent on where you live. Being in Las Vegas and Denver I’ve never had issues with rust. Where do you live?

My 2024 TRD ORP had an MSRP of $49,100. The 2025 TRD ORP might start at $52,000 with no options, but a loaded version (how they come now) will be an additional $4,000 to $8,000. As a prime example, heated seats will now be an option and not standard.

THERE'S BETTER CHOICES IN THE 4 RUNNERS THAN THE LAND CRUIZER....WHICH IS A JOKE, YOU HAVE TO USE PREMIUM GASOLINE, GASOLINE FUEL TANK IS 17.9 GAL,MOST AMOUNT OF WEIGHT IN THE VERY BACK THAT CAN BE USED IS 132 LBS..LITHIUM BATTERIES UNDERNEATH.
