We just bought our 2024 Sonata hybrid and we are loving it! Hubby is getting 50 mpg. Beautiful interior, complimentary 3 yr service, great warranty what’s not to love!

There is nothing to love about an unreliable car. Except some superficial stuff. But it's true that the Koreans are more reliable than most producers. Except for the top Japanese producers, Porsche (but they make very expensive products and with a huge TCO), Bring My Wallet (again, too expensive and with a big TCO).

Dude! Do you work for Toyota or some shit?, stop trying to impose your opinion on people, yes Toyota is the most reliable car in the segment but so is Honda and Hyundai/Kia are almost at the same level, so if someone likes the Sonata more so be it I’m one of them, I have a 2021 Limited Hybrid with 40k miles and that car has been rock solid, so gtfo of here and get a life! Jeez.

@@malachipollard334 , let's teach the Korean fanbois a lesson on facts being superior to their hurt feelings. Toyota is #2 in reliability (after #1 Lexus) while Hyundai is far at #11 in reliability, according to the last Consumer Reports annual reliability survey (and it is just slightly better than the weighted average for the last few years). Actually top 10 is dominated by the best Japanese cars' producers (Mazda, Subaru, Acura, Honda beside Toyota/Lexus - plus Suzuki and Mitsubishi outside the US) followed by Porsche and Bring My Wallet. The Korean clunkers are after all those brands. What else is very important for smart people when buying a car? Yes, the low TCO (Total Cost of Ownership). Surprise, here the best Japanese brands reign too: #1 Toyota, #2 Mitsubishi, #3 Lexus, #4 Suzuki, #5 Honda, #6 Mazda, #7 Subaru, #8 Acura etc. The Korean lemons are again out of Top 10, let me spare your shame, because they are close to #20, due to numerous engines failures, explosions, fires etc. Not to mention the time lost for a record number of recalls, the thefts (to the point that insurance companies refuse to make business with Korean clunkers owners) etc. Statistics hurt, isn't it?

@@blackgold754 , Car and Driver means little to me (bias and very small numbers behind). If you mention The Car Care Nut, Savagegeese, Car Help Corner, AutomotivePress or even Scotty (biased as well, towards Honda and Toyota) we may discuss. But the best is the Consumer Reports annual reliability survey (obviously, for reliability rankings - huge panel, more than 330'000 cars' OWNERS, giving a smaller than 3% error margin) or the CarEdge, ISeeCars, MyMechanic for TCO etc. And then the Korean cars (far better than most luxury/mass-market German brands, but below Porsche and Bring My Wallet) are out of the picture, because all tops are owned by the Japanese best brands (plus Suzuki and Mitsubishi outside US). Very similar to these statistics were my little numbers when managing fleets of hundreds of cars: German, French, Italian, American, Swedish, Korean etc. But the best investment have always been the Japanese cars (all kind of Toyota/Lexus, Mazda, Honda, Suzuki, Mitsubishi) for the companies I worked for (and for my family too). I am very pragmatic, keen on maintaining my financial freedom, thus I see no benefits in Korean cars. I might soon try a Subaru Crosstrek; Acura is not here. I drive today a Lexus hybrid, a Miata ND2 for tracking mostly, a Suzuki Jimny 4x4 for off-road. These are the champions of their respective segments and I really enjoy them.

I like Alot of what Hyundai is putting out on the market as of recent, but I'm not a Toyota or a Hyundai "Fanboy" but there will always be people in the comments that come in and just hate on a brand because they have some loyalty without understanding anything. Just looking below you can see People commenting as if Toyota doesn't have any engine issues. They have MULTIPLE engine recalls going on right now, across several different types of vehicles for both Toyota and Lexus. Heck, does anyone remember the stuck accelerator issue from the Mid-2000s that they originally said was magic floor mats sticking on the brake pedal? (Which ended up being NOT that, even though they tried to push that narrative). I mean...people had to die by being slammed into objects and other vehicles at 100 mph. My point is, that people come in thinking that their brand of choice never has major recalls. They all do. There are good mechanics now that are looking at what Hyundai is offering and they can tell you that they are improving their engines a lot more than they used to be. And that's good.

Here, it doesn't matter if the Japanese who boast the Japanese technology (hybrid) of the past cut the performance of Korean cars and manipulate them into false facts. Korea is ahead of the electric car technology of the future. The best battery companies in the world in 2024 are all South Korea. SK-ON's 9.1/2.1/2 battery is the world's highest density and power NCM battery, and is installed on IONIQ 5N. Tesla equipped with Japanese batteries has poor battery performance as it runs, so it cannot go around the Nurburg circuit several times, but IONIQ 5N equipped with Korean batteries is possible. Find the latest data on the excellence of Korean batteries. For your information, 'LG Chem' is supplied to Tesla Model 3, Samsung SDI Battery is installed in BMW, Hyundai Mobis' BSA is installed in Volkswagen, SK-ON Battery is installed in electric cars of many automakers such as Hyundai Kia and Ford. Neither BYD batteries nor Japanese Panasonic batteries can be used in high-performance cars. The best battery companies in the world in 2024 are all from Korea. SK-ON's 9.1/2.1/2 battery is the world's highest density and power NCM battery, and it is mounted on IONIQ 5N to help you run the circuit non-stop. Tesla equipped with Japanese batteries has poor battery and brake performance, so it cannot go around the circuit several times, but the reality is that IONIQ 5N equipped with Korean batteries is possible. For your information, high-performance Korean-made batteries are installed in the latest electric cars of many automakers, including BMW, Porsche, Volkswagen, and Ford. They don't have poor BYD batteries or Japanese batteries in high-performance cars. I support Toyota and other Japanese companies that lack electric vehicle technology of the future.

@@WONMINJ Is South Korea the world's best battery company? are you kidding? I've never heard of such a thing. Japanese chemical manufacturers and American chemical manufacturers hold many battery-related patents. Half of the patents for producing all-solid-state batteries are held by Japanese companies. American companies hold many patents for the sodium ion batteries made by SK On. Battery manufacturers around the world use these patents to manufacture batteries. SK On, LG Energy, and Samsung SD have a shorter history than Chinese companies in the battery field and do not have their own unique technology. It is wrong to compare with Japanese or American companies. What you are claiming is the sales share of battery manufacturers, and what I am talking about is battery patents. Battery manufacturers simply manufacture batteries using various patents. I don't understand why an OEM company that manufactures products using Japanese or American technology can become the world's top company. It is impossible for AI companies using open AI patents to create AI that outperforms chtGPT. I don't know much about Panasonic's battery performance, but it seems like they've recently started making batteries for EVs. I think that if all-solid-state batteries become widespread, existing batteries will be weeded out.
@WONMINJ
@WONMINJ Месяц назад
@@JIRO-FX3150 The Korean battery industry is trying to weaponize patents. The plan is to take the lead in the market by more aggressively utilizing the legal authority over technology secured so far. There have been frequent cases of filing lawsuits against Chinese companies that infringe on patent rights without permission and imposing patent fees on competitors. According to the industry on the 10th, domestic battery cell companies for electric vehicles, including LG Energy Solution, Samsung SDI, and SK On, are increasing their response to the Chinese battery industry's expansion of market share by ignoring patent rights. This is because some Chinese companies are developing and producing products without paying a fair price for the use of patented technology owned by Korean companies. Another problem is that global automakers do not actively consider infringement of other companies' patent rights when selecting battery cell suppliers. In response, the domestic battery industry has declared a strong response. "Respect for intellectual property rights is essential for fair competition in the global market," LG Energy Solution CEO Kim Dong-myung said recently. "We will protect intellectual property rights and sternly respond to indiscriminate patent infringement." If the technology infringement continues without a legal contract, the company plans to file a lawsuit against patent infringement. LG Energy Solution has established a system to receive revenue from patents. Tulip Innovation, a Hungarian patent management company, recently launched a new licensing program by integrating patents related to lithium-ion battery technology from LG Energy Solution and Panasonic. Tulip is an organization that conducts patent-related negotiations and lawsuits so that LG Energy Solution can earn royalties without having to manage the company. Samsung SDI held an "IP (Intellectual Property) Fair" on April 21 for the first time this year and gave awards to executives and employees who contributed to securing patents. The event, which CEO Choi Yun-ho also attended, was held under the slogan "patent is the future" to share the perception that patents are important and to encourage patent applications. SK On, which has a relatively small number of patents, is eager to secure new patents. There are about 300 patents SK On holds in China and patents pending for filing, of which 36 were approved last month. It acquired more than 10 percent of all Chinese patents in one month. Battery companies' enhanced patent management also leads to revenue generation of royalties. The revenue of royalties that U.S. chipmaker Qualcomm receives in lieu of licensing its patents amounted to 5.79 billion U.S. dollars over the past year. As in Qualcomm's case, Korean companies can strengthen their competitiveness in winning orders by mentioning the possibility of paying huge patent costs to their suppliers if they build up high patent barriers. "It is only when Korean companies are 'chasers' of patents," a source in the battery industry said. "Especially in the battery industry for electric vehicles, where Korea is at the forefront, it is important to use patents to check latecomers and maintain market competitiveness." @@WONMINJ Why are you talking on the assumption that EVs will take over? Recent EV sales are worse than last year, and hybrids are selling better. The reason Toyota hasn't made an EV since around 2010 is because PHVs had better performance, and they were also developing other environmentally friendly engines. Toyota developed all-solid-state batteries a long time ago, but they haven't mass-produced them because they have the disadvantage of being easily broken, and EVs aren't selling that well. Toyota is not a battery manufacturer and only makes a profit by selling battery patents to battery companies in China and South Korea. I think most of the battery factories of companies like Samsung and LG are located in China, so they use rare metals from China. If the US or EU imposes tariffs on Chinese products, I think they will naturally lose sales.

I have a 2023 Sonata hybrid and it is a nice car but not perfect. The front seats are too stiff for long trips. The technology may be great for some but annoying for anyone who is actually engaged in their driving. I turned-off a lot of the features because they were more distraction than help. The transmission can be very notchy at low speeds but it is quick to smooth-out once you get up to speed. Finally, the color selections are so BORING. I got what I thought was going to be dark blue but it turned out to be about a half-a-shade away from black. C'mon Hyundai - offer at least one interesting color! Oh, one last thing, the automatic door locks go absolutely crazy when you are washing the car. The pressure of the water stream from your garden hose will cause them to go into a paroxysm of locking and unlocking.

@@Drg24800The sonata is not fully loaded. And that's a high trim of the Camry. I can tell by the rims. This is simply what you get with a Camry. It's hilarious. It's a very very very very very basic car with nearly no features. I do not recommend a Toyota. It's a very bland doll and boring experience. They're giving you a lesser product promising you it somehow going to just last you longer though. But this is based off of information which took place in the late '90s and early 2000s. How reliable is Toyota actually is right now is questionable. I had a Toyota Corolla 2018 and they had nothing but CVT issues. Shaking engines at red lights. And so many recalls. Toyota is basically the Apple of the car world.
@Drg24800
@Drg24800 3 месяца назад
@@wowzer4919 If you think you can tell it’s a high trim just because of the rims, that’s not very bright. The Camry in the video is an SE which is one step above the base. If you used your eyes, you would see that it doesn’t have the full LED headlights/taillights that the XLE/XSE would have. The Sonata is fully loaded. It has rear parking sensors that are only found on the Limited. So it’s not a fair fight when it comes to features because it’s comparing apples to oranges. Even if you were to compare the top trims, I’m sure there are certain things the Toyota wouldn’t have that the Sonata does. That’s how Toyota works. They don’t have the latest and greatest things because they want their vehicles to last more than 5 years. Plus the reliability of their hybrids is the best because of how long they’ve been improving it. The Camry hybrid will definitely outlast the Sonata hybrid. As for your Corolla, I don’t know what the mileage was, but you probably got unlucky with your CVT unless it wasn’t maintained or it had high mileage since they don’t last as long as a traditional automatic. That being said, Toyota does make the most reliable CVT in the car world.
@wowzer4919
@wowzer4919 3 месяца назад
@@Drg24800 You can get an LE, and still opt into all the extra features. I've seen the top trims of the Camry they have the exact same features this one has no more no less. They're very basic vehicles and cost a lot. Toyota does not offer you any value. They offer a supposed history of reliability. The upgraded models you'll get very basic visual enhancements. But in terms of actual features it's very dull. The sonata offers things that even a Lexus doesn't. Toyota is overrated, my Corolla 2018 had nothing but issues. You shouldn't insult people, it makes you look insecure.

@@wowzer4919 Toyota often has more basic vehicles compared to competitors because they use materials and tech that is tested to last longer than the competition.
