Some 60 years after establishing a dealership base in Canada, Toyota is expanding on the nameplate that started it all. Way back in 1964, Toyota introduced Canadians to the little car known as the Crown. It was sold alongside the Land Cruiser and boxy little Publica.
Now comes a wagon version of the Crown sedan that arrived last year in a revival of the Crown badge. But is the 2025 Toyota Crown Signia really a wagon or is it a crossover utility? While no one at Toyota dares utter the word, the Signia sure looks the part of a wagon, which is entirely a good thing. Yes, it does have a taller seating position and higher floor than the sedan for ease of entry and exit. But it also has wagon-like exterior proportions - more of a tall “shooting brake” with SUV utility and a car-like ride - one that looks refreshingly clean and modern.

As Canadians, we still want wagons. Sadly, Toyota Canada won't offer us the cheaper XLE on more sensible 19" rims which adds to the annoyance of missing out on the new Camry LE. These developments are part of a disturbing trend which sees us denied access to Toyota's more affordable models.😡😡

*for $57k CAD it's better to buy this Crown instead of a Lexus NX350h*

21” tires for Canadian winters? What was Toyota thinking? Also ground clearance is minimal, much lower than Venza. Both deal breakers for me.

Hi guys. Nice review, but very difficult to hear. I think the Crown is an intriguing vehicle for us older folks.

Toyota dumps the Venza, and replaces it with a vehicle that starts at $10,000 more then the Venza, and there is only one trim level. For that money, you can buy a Rav4 Prime, if you can find one.

Wow! Just a little bit wrong. It’s the NX that’s that much more. I have a 23 Venza. This Insignia is really close in price.

@@petermacdonald6332 You mean you paid close to $58,000 for a Venza in Canada without tax ( which is the price of the Crown Signia in Canada )? I priced a Venza last fall, and it was around $48,000, $10,000 less then the price of the Crown Signa.

@@petermacdonald6332 You mean to tell me you paid almost $58,000 in Canada for a Venza without tax ( the same price as the only model new Crown Signia the sail in Canada )? I priced a Venza last fall, and it was around $48,000, and even that was too expensive for what it was, and I did not buy it knowing it was going to be discontinued.
