2026 Chevrolet Camaro EV
Despite the popularity of the Camaro, the last sixth generation rolled off the assembly line on 14 December 2023, as a 2024 model. As a parting gift the 2024 Camaro Collector's Edition features Panther Black matte paint, badging, unique wheels, and other styling cues. Limited to a run of only 56, the 2024 Chevy Camaro ZL1 Garage 56 Edition honors the NASCAR Cup Car. The final 650-hp supercharged LT4 was built 16 October 2023, destined to be installed into the last 2024 ZL1 Camaro. For the second time, the lack of a Camaro in the Chevrolet lineup casts an ominous shadow.
Out of the darkness, if GM president Mark Reuss has his way, there will be a rebirth of Camaro as an EV. The next generation may abandon huge horsepower and competition winning performance. It would instead focus on athletic dynamics and a low price point hoping to appeal to a broader audience. As a nod to the Dodge Charger the next design could easily reappear as a four-door sedan. It may use the same Ultium architecture as the Chevrolet Equinox EV which could also suggest a similar pricing.
GM is not expected to abandon the market recognition and reputation of the venerable Camaro. Camaro may come back as a crossover similar to the Ford Mustang Mach-E. It could just as easily return as an oversized Chevy Bolt EV variant reminiscent of the Ford Falcon based 1st generation Mustang pony car.
The interior would no doubt attempt to retain a sporty feel. Modern electronics would be a mainstay on the dash.
It was reported that the last time the Camaro returned it was because of extracurricular skunk works within the company. Time will tell how GM decides to move forward, if they move at all.
