These are the only kind of "drag" races I watch. It was fun seeing that Vette showing off and shutting everyone else down. 👏👏👏 To the driver's skill at handling the car's horsepower. I'm old school...love to hear a V8 "purring" on the track. I hope electric cars don't put an end to racing! 😭
These traction control/launch control cars are the transvestites of the drag racing world. No driver skill needed. Just mash the pedal to the floor and the car does the rest. Drag racing has always been 25% car 75% driver skill. Thats gone forever.
@@leroywatermelon4025 they are quicker with traction control defeated and good driver. Yes anyone can do it the slow way with tc on but not everyone can drive well enough to be quicker with out it. Some cars granted, have so much power you have to rely on tc.
Nah chevy engines are total damn trash, hemis are waaaaaaaaay better. The cat just over spinned and didnt grip on time, but if they raced when already rolling, the cat would gap tf out of the vette.
I’ve always loved the Corvette and hoped to have one-that was in the early 2000’s…then I started looking at an Audi recently UNTIL the new Vette like the beautiful one here has me totally OBSESSED 😍 with getting one..the 2023 fully loaded one is just AMAZING! I can’t wait to FLY to Vegas on the 15 Fwy..she’s SO damn BEAUTIFUL..that sound is BEYOND music to my ears! I was SO BLESSED to have a truly amazing dad who got me into all things fast and fun! RIP dad (12/7/94) forever next to me 🙏
He was doomed with the smaller diameter tires at 3:07. The Vette is one beautiful sports car. That beautiful Honda didn't do as bad as I thought it would. LOL
I love the AUDI A7’s, the AWD with 605hp (depending if he had the performance variant) really showed…but of course the Vette still takes it. Good races for all!
Yea I don’t know what the hell he was doing. I coulda beat him in my SUV. My truck woulda wiped that dude. Nah, I couldn’t even get past the burnout part.
My Mom divorced my Dad so he went out and bought an orange 76’vet. 350 4b. He traveled a lot and I would drive it at 16yrs old. One badass car. Loved it. 130 mph one night coming back from dishwashing at the Coliseum. I remember the smell of those brakes. RIP Dad 🙂
I had a 5 speed 93 Honda prelude. That was the most fun I ever had driving a car. You definitely have the advantage as I could shame mustangs, dodge cars and a few other automatics but I would have certainly lost against a vette. Auto or stick. Never raced against one though. That cherry red vette is a beast!! Absolutely fabulous!!
All of the following matters in rallying: vehicle weight (the less, the faster it may accelerate depending on what engine the vehicle has), tires (less friction could reduce traction which could result in less friction in order to accelerate; this also deals with what tread is being used and from what companies they may be from), body structure
I'm no expert but I just love cars and know how to do simple work. I might start attending school to learn a little something, you're never too old for anything. I always wanted a Viper but too much $$, would be more than happy with something like a Vette or a Mustang GT500, but recently I've been feeling the Hellcat.
Different setting, but some hot shot, lady friend on tow, in his civic,, came up beside me at a light. Poor guy didn't realize the "classic" old bike was a ZRX 1200R. Some folks need to do a little research
He's got a long way to go, though, if he wants to get it up in the pack. I thought that Benz would be faster. I've got a stock '94 Mustang GT that could pull times close to what it did.
I wasn't REALLY expecting the 87 Buick Regal Grand National to beat the Hellcat. But I was hoping the see something impressive in that race. And I think the Regal did pretty well for a V6 Turbo! ❤
Not sure if that is a real GN. Stock, with drag radials and tweaking of the waste gate, a real GN is an 11.0 car. There was a guy famously had a kit for $1100 (mostly for wheels) that would get 11.0 stock (OK that was in 1999 or so... but still).
@@Jamminmotorking no, its a BUICK! Those side windows behind the drivers door are too narrow. The Monte Carlo had bigger windows and the front turn signals were also bigger.than a BUICK. The front grill of a Monte Carlo was different.
Manual transmission vs automatic and much lighter car so it's faster even tho it has 57 less horsepower from the factory we don't know what's been done to it probably tuned with a supercharger or turbo or pro charger or maybe it's stock and he's just a better racer.
@@arjunchickering1085 Lighten up: it’s a fun night at the strip. Wonder how you and your Ford Pinto would do if you ever got out of your mom’s basement?
Not really. A car that costs about half being barely beat doesn't look bad on anybody. If you bought a stock hellcat and put as much in it as you save from not buying the vette, you'd be easily under 9s all day. 🤷♂️ looks like good drag racing to me. Dunno why everyone has to be butthurt about everything. Brand loyalty gets you nothing.
My father in law drag races his Z06. He is in his 80s. The kids love him! He was driving his wife out in the car last weekend and noted the brakes were toast "again". lol
@Clot gOD Why would I need to lie, you are more than welcome to hit the drag strip in Pittsburgh. Ask them if they know Ed Sr. in the Z06. Course I didn't believe in corvette church till I saw the 5 vettes in his basement including the 57 fuelie he and my husband spent 11 years putting back together with every nut and bolt accounted for. Other than that, you must be really hard up for attention to make such claims based on your own jealous nature instead of facts. As for my own garage, it too reflects their passionate love for the vette. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5IKo59ecqQA.html
@@Anwelei amazingly both of my parents in law rock! I not only was able to marry a god of a man I adore but his family were welcoming and so kind and fun fun fun to be around. I won the lottery of people when I met my husband 18 yrs ago!
@@jeromy2886 No way. The Monte Carlo had heavily sculpted fenders as did the Cutlass. The only 2 GM cars of the 79-83 era that had flat fenders and qp's were the Grand Prix and the Regal. The Grand Prix had a different nose and hood. That is definitely a Buick Regal.
Ya one of the best super cars on the planet. Not sure why people think that the demon is better. Tha zo6 is and always will be faster and better overall than anything dodge can produce.
@@muumuumu Dude. The vette is faster bc they are lighter n more aerodynamic. N pushin 750 horses with nearly 500 ft-lbs of torque. Gotta know it cars b4 u speak bro.
@@jeffreykieff9562 yea it's tuned too so. I know weight ratio is the biggest thing. Aerodynamics don't play such a big role in this. I wasn't expecting a heavier car to beat it. Simple math bro. Also the hellcat driver was shit. But still would've lost with that tank.
demon will loose bad if hellcat is more than a sec slower than this z06...demon lost almost all fights..its the slowest 820hp car on street and drag...try put it against any other 820hp car and will loose
I know the guy with the hellcat. Right after this he had to take it to the dealer to get drivers window switches replaced, a rattle in the moulding near the radio was found and ceiling was peeling all fixed under warranty. It has 12,000 miles on it and he loves it!
The Corvette has been the fastest car in the quarter mile ever since I have been a kid , talking 60's! Fiberglass body back then! 427 checkered flag remember that sh.t???
@@brownchair2698 no I mean overall lol Tesla would definitely beat anything short of a suped up demon but It’s still far more exciting to see muscle cars drag racing
As a child, my 1st car crush was the 70s corvette stingray. I still have a soft spot for the corvette. The challenger is a fav as well. But, the acceleration of the vette is amazing. Corvette any model hands down
