Hi granny pat! I'm a 56 yes old and am a CNA for 25 yrs. I love watching u and hearing your stories. Reminds me of my moma, she passed 2 years ago and she was my best friend, my youngest son Adam passed the year before her he was 18. Christmas and all holidays are sad for me. I miss everybody that's not here. I'm raising my twin grandchildren and I have to stay strong. Listening to your stories takes me back when I was a child, my mom was my great aunt that raised me when my real mom left me there but I was happy. We were pore , we didn't have indoor plumbing and took baths in metal wash tub that mom would heat water and fill. It's hard for people to believe but it was normal to me. My grandpa plowed with mules and a hand drawn plow, I didn't know any different. I loved the old country store. The store is long gone now, I took care of the folks who owned it till they passed and all my folks have passed but those were good times compared to now. Keep making those video's it comforts me. I'm from Tennesee
God bless you. I can’t imagine losing a child. My only child. I saw my dad’s grief when my older sister died at 16. But I pray for you. There are so many children passing theses days. It’s completely heartbreaking and I pray it ends soon.
I enjoyed your stories today. I have been feeling a little down - hearted. My husband passed away 2 1/2 years ago. I don't feel much like doing all of the Christmas festivities anymore. But I do observe the birth of Christ. Thanks for being a friend. ❤
Look at your bright sunny outfit! You brought sunshine to me on this rainy, gloomy day in Seattle! You brighten up any room along with your stories! Here is some sunshine 🌞
@@nancywhipple480 tell your daughter to click on ‘more’ under the video. It will open ‘Transcript’ at the right of the screen and she can read what I say. It will be very helpful.
Your stories are what I love to listen to, I'm 56 and miss my grandma like crazy. So thank you for sharing your stories with other's. Thank you grandma pat , MERRY CHRISTMAS ⛄️☃️
Well I’m in Lancaster PA for the Christmas Show at the American Music Theater. I thought of you when I was visiting my favorite Amish stops. The old country store stories bring back many similar memories of getting 5 cents worth of candy. The thrill of walking away from the counter with that candy was like Christmas morning!
Your stories have such a good meaning and makes you think. We should all be more appreciative of what we do have. I wish young people today would listen to stories like yours. It would probably be hard for children of today to believe that times were that hard because they have not experienced such.
I’m afraid with the use of Iphones, there will be nothing for young people to tell. No face to face communication of any kind. All they will have are trips to the beach. What’s to tell about that? No family gatherings! No stories about grandparents. I haven’t seen gr’grandchildren in over 3 years. One, I have never seen-partly due to pandemic. No invitations of any kind. That is today’s world.
Hello Pat. I so enjoyed today's story. I grew up in a small town in the late 50's/early 60's and can relate to being able to charge some things to my mother's account. I loved the part about the store owner putting up a shelf so the kids could leave their muddy shoes behind and go to school in their "good" shoes. What a kind thing to do. Times are so different now and I'm thankful I grew up in the time I did. 22:23
These are the stories that mean something! These are the BEST, most meaningful, beautiful but also sad stories that touch our souls and help us realize (especially in these times) why our Country was and will alway’s be the BEST Free Country in the World! Thank you again for helping us remember how those times were. God Bless you and your Family Ms.Pat. ❤️🙏
Such cute stories! When I was about 4 my parents would walk me every Friday (probably pay day) down to a little neighborhood grocer. I always got to pick out some little trinket..good memories! Keep the shirt! I love it! Lol..about the earrings! One time I went to work with one brown shoe...one black shoe!😂 We always took a little drive every Sunday! My dad & grandpa in the front seat & I set between my mom & grandma in the back seat! I always looked forward to Sundays! The "good 'old days." Your stories bring back wonderful memories! My Christmas Home Tour is today..hope you'll watch...I know it's long but I had such fun making it! Love you Granny Pat! ❤❤😘
Granny Pat those days where we charged things at the little stores were so precious. I loved your stories about you kids charging things. We were held accountable back then. We learned to respect our parents and grandparents. I love hearing you talk about your older two sisters. Precious stories you heard from them.❤️ I really loved your blouse today too. Carson in Ohio❤️🙏🥰
I have gotten to the point where I get rid of any clothing or shoes that aren't 100% comfortable. I have even been known to get dressed and about an hr later, I decide something I'm wearing needs to go to the donate pile. Life is too short to be uncomfortable. Love your stories Granny Pat.
Love your beautiful blouse and wouldn’t have noticed the “mismatched” earrings as my first thought was perfectly they matched your blouse❤. Oh the joys of local grocery stores or as kids we referred to them as “penny candy “ stores, one of my favorite memories of my childhood so many years ago. I can remember all the wonderful things we’d drool over in store windows, seeing Santa for a candy cane and so excited over the holidays. I’m the opposite of you and my mom, I love the long winters we have, shorter days, the beautiful snow, our homes all cozied up for winter. My momma is 86, loves the sunshine, hot days and being outside watching people go by. Miss Pat, your stories make my day, takes me back to simpler times and a lot less stressful than our world is now. Thank you for sharing❤ Debby, upstate New York
@@chitchatwithgrannypat7900 that’s what my mom says, says she just gets chilled to the bone and her nose is always dripping all winter. I hate summer when I’m dropping in sweat 😂
I love your stories about the old country store. We had one that we used to go to when I was a little girl. I still have fantastic memories from that. And they sold penny candy. Your earrings are beautiful. Even though they are slightly different. That could be the new trend. You could become a fashion icon. Love you Pat. Thank you for coming in to my living room and bringing happiness to me. Shirley, your #1 Fan.
Ohio is just the same as far as the weather forecast, my friend. So glad to have found your channel. Thank you for taking time out of your day to chat!
Good evening Granny Pat. I can sure remember my Grandmothers both had running charge accts at the country store too. Love your stories. All of those people are gone now. The sad thing is I am seeing so many people I grew up with are leaving us too soon.
Loved your story granny Pat. Keep the pretty top and add a colorful scarf. Your story brought back memories of my own childhood. We had good lunches in high school, but some complained. I ate every bit most days because it was more than we had at home. Mama always made sure we ate breakfast everyday though as we lived on a farm and had chickens so we had plenty of eggs. Kids now want fast foods, junk food or want eat. And you are right about the toys most have Christmas year round. We were happy to get apples, oranges, candy and nuts. Sometime a small toy. Most times we were happy just being kids .
Hey beautiful Gran Gran!!!!!! Happy happy Saturday as always it’s such a delight to see you!!!!!!! Your story telling is like a warm cup of hot chocolate and a big hug!!!!!!!! Tennessee is probably going to be dreary all weekend but I imagine in the end we will happy to see snow (I know everyone doesn’t fancy snow) but I absolutely love ❤️ the snow as a child I just couldn’t wait to build my 1st snowman ⛄️ Winter is a beautiful season they all are in their own way Hope you are enjoying your Christmas 🎄 time Santa will be here soon!!!!!!! Only 16 more sleeps to go and Christmas will be here!!!!!!! Sending you love ❤️ hugs and prayers always ✝️🙏🙏🙏🙏🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🧸🧸🧸🎁🎁🎁⛄️⛄️
Granny pat I just love to hear your story, I remember my grandmother telling me that she and her cousin Ruth use to buy a double popcycle for about 10 cents and they would break it apart and share it my grandmother earned it by cleaning floors that was also during the depression.
Hi Grandma, wonderful and real, not many children these days could make it during a depression, when every penny counted! I love this story it let's us all be thankful for what we have, thank you Grandma, have a wonderful evening😊❤
Hi, good to see you back with another story. You remind me of the bank statements of my parents I've been hard pressed to burn. There are checks in there for under $2.00 where momma bought the items she needed that we didn't raise and can ourselves. Coffee, sugar, cornmeal, flour. We had our own beef and chicken. Raised and canned vegetables and fruit as they ripened. We had a red plumb tree too, and if momma didn't watch me closely I'd snack on them until I messed my panties. She'd strip me down and spray me clean with the garden hose. It wasn't really punishment, but I was potty trained at one so she was a bit displeased when I was back dirtying my undies at 3.
@@chitchatwithgrannypat7900 Thank you Pat, yes I can understand that times must have been hard in that era. Times are getting really hard here in the UK with the cost of living crisis; lots of people cannot afford to heat their homes, and are having to use food banks to be able to eat. I think we can all learn lessons from the past. Thank you very much for the stories.
Your story reminds me of what my oldest sister did when she was 9 or 10 I believe. My sister had seen my mom charge things at the corner store countless times but didn't exactly understand how it worked. One day my mom got a call from the owner who said " Your daughter is here with a few friends that have picked out some cokes and chips but when it was time to pay she said to put it on your account" and she asked my mom if she should make them put the stuff back. My mom didn't have the heart to say no which would have caused my sister a great deal of embarrassment so she gave the ok for it. Needless to say that never happened again! It's hard to imagine how much things have changed since the late 50's/early 60's! Small town corner stores and communities where everyone knew each other is a rarity these days.
Hi there Granny Pat. It is a blessing to me to have such a special, beautiful person like you in such a hard world as ours is now. It feels like a blessing that I happen to come across your videos. Nothing compares to dem days when times were hard for many of us but there seemed to be so much love in those hard times which was a hidden blessing. Your Mama seemed like such an amazing Mama. She reminds me of mine. Taking care of four children on her own. My Mama was born in South Korea back in 1935. She passed away last year. Oh how I miss her dearly. Also lost my youngest sister 2 months before I lost my precious Mama to sudden death. It is a long story I wish I could tell you but I wanted to let you know that what your doing helps me get along in this life that seems to have lost its understanding of how important it is to have the true meaning of sincere love and empathy. I appreciate everything your doing and how amazing you really are. Keep those wonderful stories n meals going. I give your precious Mama gratitude for making such an amazing person as your beautiful heart mind n soul is. Hope for the best for you and your family with many blessing always.🥰
Well I live in Minnesota , and it's cold and windy with light snow that's not accumulating. I have Bible study at church this morning and it was cold and windy. I love your stories so much! It really helps me to appreciate the times I had growing up and how the little things meant so!!! Thank you and have a great day
I love your sassiness, and your weather report makes more sense for your area than any so called meteorologist could ever do.🤣 1 Nickel every Friday for me. God bless you.
Granny Pat thank you so much for your videos. I lost my mother last year and she was born in 1945 so she was in that era that you talk a lot about. God bless you you're such a breath of fresh air to watch.
Story was good again tonight. Weather here in Ringgold, GA has been cloudy with sprinkles all day . Rain has picked up tonight and suppose to rain all night. Remember hearing my Mom talk about times in the depression era . Love you❤
Granny Pat..im seeing this late (June '24) . I hope you kept that pretty blouse! The colors remind me of a sunset and the trim looks like shells. The colors are so flattering to you! Thanks for your stories. I love them.
Thank you, Granny Pat, for another heart-warming story. It is so nice to sit here and imagine a time that was so much simpler and kinder. Looking forward to seeing your next video! Keep up the good spirit, kindness and sincerity in your posts here. God Bless!
Also, thank you so much for this video. Your stories are riveting to listen to, but hearing this one helped me reframe where I'm at in my life right now. You are a wonderful lady, and I hope you have a pleasant day despite how gloomy the weather is getting. (I'm in southern ohio and it's not much better here this week)
I used to do that on purpose when I was younger..it drove my husband crazy..I kept saying it was eclectic, and I wanted to be different from everyone else..
Loved your stories today! Brightened up my day to see you because it's rainy and gloomy here today as well in Pennsylvania. Oh, and I would have never noticed your earrings not matching 😂 My eyesight isn't too good. Hope you have a good rest of your day Pat. God bless you🙏🥰🥰🙏
I feel blessed to have heard your story about Elsie’s store. It just makes me feel warm…I long for a better time than the world as it is now. But, we make the most of things as they are. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Love from Memphis, TN. ❤
Talking about your mismatch earrings, I wore to work one time a black shoe and a blue shoe together, they were the same style, just different colors. Everyone got a good laugh from that. Lol😂
Hey there Granny. Pat. Thank you for that story.i so love your stories. I remember the dresses my mama made me I'm so glad you have so many memories. I know you miss your Daddy and mama and your brother and sisters. May you be blessed with peace and calmness.bthankvyou. much love❤🎉
Hi Granny Pat! Certainly enjoyed your story. When you tell your stories and describe to get us familiar I always feel I am right there. It was no different this time. Your earrings look nice. You take the extra time to look nice and your example is what we need. Nancy from IN.
My parents were kids in the depression. Their house burned in the early 60s when I was a baby, the youngest. The church family passed things all around, to whoever could use it. Someone gave Mom a lovely grey wool coat. Mom took it apart & made me a coat with red velvet collar & covered buttons, when I was maybe 5. It was a pretty coat. Not many moms today could or would do that.
👋 Granny Pat. I think your top is very pretty. I would keep it. You can just wear a white shirt underneath it. It would complement the white button trim. As ALWAYS, I love to hear you tell the old stories. Thank you for sharing them.
Once again you opened hearts to the truth! I was born in 1970 to a millionaire daddy, who lost it all in the 72 oil crisis. Later on he gave his life to the Lord. I do very vividly remember hot footing one hot asphalt to a country store called “north side grocery” Momma would give a couple dollars and say ask Mr. Raines what he can give. It was sometime liver or a beef heart. I count this in my life at 53 to have been a part of the history you tell. We don’t have all the things the other folks did, but momma made it work. In today’s moment my Daddy is in the hospital for pneumonia and this word of truth rings so close to me. Keep on, push on and make things happen! I was a middle child but now, Seem to lead the flock. Thank you so much for the words and wisdom and the simple truth! ❤️
@@chitchatwithgrannypat7900 wow granny same here ,May the 19th ,we are May babies that's awesome. I'm very independent I'm somewhat of a loner maybe it's normal for us May people.
Hey Granny Pat. I’m 52, will be 53 the 21st of this month. I remember so well a small country store about 2 miles from us. I can remember people have an account with this store. Best I can remember they kept up with what a person owed in a ledger book. Good days, so many good memories. Things are so different now. I remember a little lady by the name of Nell that would come buzzing down the road in her powder blue Ford Falcon to pick her order up at the store. I think she would call them and tell them what she needed, they would have it together when she got there to pick it up. I remember her wearing driving gloves to too. Just simpler times, and that was probably the 1980s
@@chitchatwithgrannypat7900 yes she did. I’m thankful for my experiences even though I was kinda on the tail end of a lot of things. My granny on my daddy’s side was born in 1897 or 1898. There was confusion somewhat about that but it’s amazing I knew a persons born in the 1800s . She and I were pretty close but not so much with my grandpa - he’s wasn’t very friendly unfortunately.
Hello ,I also have a nickel story ,❤😢when I was young l had an aunt who lived next door to us ,and everytime she needed something from the corner store ,she would yell out my name , and there i went to the store ,she was such a great aunt ,I liked her anyways I thought I was rich. I got a nickel all the time ,sometimes I went to the store 3x aweek but I'll tell you what nomatter if I was hot or cold outside i. went to the store I was sad too see her move. ,,ofcourse we grow up I visited her from time to time,, we had good memories,,, love to hear your stories, always reminds me of my young days thku Pat ❤
Oh ma'am that stinks that those earrings don't match. I have that problem with buying anything that comes in pairs or packs of several. I'll get home and realize one is missing or broken, etc. Because I wasn't paying enough attention...
My mom is the baby of 16 kids 8 boys 8 girls ( all full blood, no step children) My mom got her first pair of new shoes for her wedding. She married at 16.
I really enjoyed this especially the story about your older sister and the plums. I was wondering if you could tell a story about your experience going to prom if you went or the memories of your other sisters going to prom.😊 Your friend Justin. R
Justin, Figure this: 44 girls and 13 boys in my senior class. The numbers were not equal for a prom. No one to date! So we had a banquet. Do I need to tell you how exciting that was??? Korean War time, young men had joined the army. We had the smallest graduating class. Dullest bunch of kids ever to graduate from the school. Get the picture?
Pat, I lost both of my oldest sisters 2 years ago and just lost my Mom this past October at 84 yrs of age. Its been difficult to say the least, but as I sit here I’m reminded of some of their old stories and how often your stories closely resemble theirs. One I have in mind is… My Mother lived around the corner from an ice cream parlor when she was very young and when the ice cream parlor would get down to the bottom of the big containers they would prepare to clean and refill them. The kids in the neighborhood caught onto this cleaning and restocking situation, so they would gather outside that little ice cream shop watching the shop keeper bringing those big containers in and out. The kids stood waiting because the owner would give out what was left in each of those ice cream containers to every one of the children. She said that was a big highlight in the summer back in the 30’s and 40’s and as she got a little older she said she noticed he began to bring those barrels out far too soon for the need to either refill or to clean as they still had quite a bit of ice cream left in them.. she suspected he did this just to see the happiness it brought, she said his face may have lit up even more than the kids faces did if that was possible? and just before Christmas that same man would hand out small bags of penny candy that always had two of those foil wrapped chocolate coins inside and every bag also had a candy cane tied to it and he did this for at least 25-30 kids every year that that ice cream shop was in business. Just a little story, I hope it wasn’t too long! ❤
YOUR STORIES ARE SO INTERESTING AND ENJOY YOUR VIDEOS SO MUCH. I WOULD LOVE TO BE ABLE TO SIT WITH YOU IN PERSON AND TALK WITH YOU. TAKE CARE SEE YOU NEXT TIME.
