Near Neighbors is going right on my list! Mrs. Tim Flies Home was one of my favorite reads last year - so thankful to learn about D.E. Stevenson from your channel so I’m excited to try Molly Clavering!
My Goodreads and wishlist just grew exponentially 😂 I love how you read so much! You read with curiosity, balance, inspiration, AND planning! That is a challenge!! I'm so impressed that you stuck with your Shakespeare project all year 👏👏👏 And Blanding Castle!! I need to go back there! 😂
Your story about hearing God's voice and finding your cat had me laughing out loud. How funny! Suffice to say that I have found myself with a 3 month old puppy. 🥴😆
My favorite new book I read in 2021 was Once Upon a Broken Heart. It’s part of the Caraval series. All of your books from last year are wonderful reads. Especially reading Shakespeare’s plays! Hope everyone will have lots of reading adventures in 2022!
Thank you for sharing, I always appreciate the inspiration. I am excited for your bookish content in the new year. One of my first adventures of 2022 will be to go to the used bookstore and look for an Osa Johnson book. 80 Day Around the World sounds like a wonderful book to start the New Year with. Happy New Year, Emma!
I’m a big fan of Molly Clavering (and the Dean Street Press Furrowed Middlebrow editions). I read her _Mrs Lorimer’s Quiet Summer_ this year and really loved it.
Happy new year Emma 🥳🎉! Wishing you and yours a dazzling 2022! I always look forward to this video so much. Wonderful to hear your thoughts on the books that made up a fabulous reading year for you. I’m really looking forward to checking out ‘Riders of the Purple Sage’ thanks to your recommendation 😊 If you end up feeling in the mood for another Verne in 2022, may I suggest ‘The Mysterious Island’ - if you enjoyed 20,000 Leagues, you’ll get an extra kick out of this one 😉 (Plus, it doesn’t have as many Latin names stuffed in it from memory 😂) x
A molly clavering book made my list too. Mrs lorimer’s quiet summer which is inspired by her and DE Stevenson living next door to each other. I need to read the rest of her books. Grabbed them earlier this year in ebook format when Dean street press rereleased them. I think she might be a new favorite if that book if anything to go by.
I loved watching this. Definitely a few books to add to my 2022 list! I wonder if you've read 'the forcyth saga'? It's fabulous and I feel like you might really love it!
I read Near Neighbors and all the other books by Molly Clavering I could find! Do you check on Dean Street Press~ the Furrowed Middlebrow? I have found her and several other fabulous authors on that site! Also, I got the whole Anne of Green Gables set of books for Christmas when I was about 11 or 12~ I still have them. They are some of my most prized possessions~~ I will NEVER part with those. I reread them all every few years..they are so emotionally moving! Can't wait to see what all you read this year! Happy New Year and blessings to you and your family for 2022!!
I'm half through The Divine Comedy now. I just started reading The Seven Storey Mountain by Thomas Merton and realized the title seems to be a reference to Dante's Purgatorio. 🤔I'm reading Near Neighbors right now, and I am loving it! I read Dear Hugo by Molly Clavering in 2021 and loved it too. She was a friend of D.E. Stevenson. That reminds me that Dean Street Press just re-published 11 new DES titles on January 3. She is one of my very favorite authors. That character in The Rosemary Tree is awful! My top three books of 2021 were My Antonia by Willa Cather, Daniel Deronda by George Eliot, and Dombey and Son by Charles Dickens.
