21 Jump Street Changed Everything for Channing Tatum

Prior to his breakout performance in 21 Jump Street, Channing Tatum was seen by most as just "generic handsome guy". Teaming up with Jonah Hill, Christoper Miller, and Phil Lord, finally gave audiences a chance to see Channing Tatum's as more than a rom com hear throb. 21 Jump Street let Tatum show off his acting chops, and even landed him future roles with some of hollywoods biggest directors. Without 21 Jump Street we may have never seen what Channing Tatum could do.

I legit think that 21 and 22 jump street are some of the best comedies of the last decade, and apart of being just good fun, i think they both hide a really cool message about rising above your own expectations and stereotypes, and people being always more than meets the eye. This is very similar to the bollywood actor John Abraham. He was a model and frequently gets cast as a generic handsome guy, or military lead. But with his work with Akshay Kumar, who is an incredible actor in a lot of genres and primarily does comedy. They brought out so much of his character and soul in those movies. Akshay caries most of the comedy, but arguably John's movies with him are better than the more serious movies without him. He's incredible in comedy movies when he's given the right script.

I sat on 21 Jump Street for over 2 years until I heard a number of friends who shared the same opinion on Tatum as I did say he was hilarious in it. Tatum playing on the dumb character that many boxed him in was the best decision he could have made and thats why this character worked perfectly for him. Im just sad that we're approaching 10 years and we've not got a 23 Jump Street yet. That end credits scene of 22 opened up a world of possibilities for sequels.
