Water caches for the win.
Another dry stretch, I don't think I could have done it without the caches. There is an alternate route that passes springs and/or cow ponds, but I didn't know about it until I got to the cache that evening. Luckily there was hundreds of gallons there. I didn't see anywhere to donate for the maintenance of the caches.

A lot of flowers in this one. Evening primroses, California Chia, Western Wallflower, various buckwheat species (Eriogonum), lupines, thistles....

Me too! Apparently, the amount of rain and the timing has things blooming more than usual. There's often a constant buzz of bees.

You take video where other hikers have not! Thanks for showing me the trail.

I used to worry that I was doing too much. I basically take pics or video of anything I would want to show the folks back home or that I'll want to remember years from now. Comments like this and encouragement from viewers help me from feeling like I need to cut a lot of footage when editing.

You should hear my rendition of Bon Jovi; "Shot through the arm, and you're to blame. It's bc you have bad aim."

I love that you use a lanshan 2. How do you like it compared to your duplex?

This tent is really growing on me. I find myself setting it up at times that I would have normally cowboy camped. I've gotten a lot better at getting a good pitch. If they were of a similar price I would probably still prefer the duplex. My duplex started to fall apart after my 1st big thru-hike. I was in denial and tried to patch it for way too long. I think the dyneema cubed fiber just starts to break down after a while. I got mine years ago when they were ~$650, now I think they're >$750. For $150 I think the Langshan is an excellent tent. I would have preferred an American company, but at the time I bought it, I needed something inexpensive that could be delivered to me on trail. Now I like it quite a bit. I will probably purchase at least one more for taking family and friends backpacking.

Thanks for this. I have one and I always wanted to see a true thru- hiker use one on trail for an extended period of time. Thanks for the information. Safe travels, Lori

What is it that you learned about getting the correct pitch? Love all your videos. Very well done.

@loj74 When staking out the corners, I used to go too wide. It pulled the corners apart tight without tightening the pitch. I stake out the corners, put the poles in, then go around and attach the fly tie outs to the stakes and pull half of the slack out of their straps, then hook one door on each side and tighten, then do the final adjustment to the corners of the fly. I'm getting much better pitches than when I first got it.
