@@derranlawston4052 the biggest reason why there's a Jewish state is to have a safe place for the Jews (ethnically) because of anti-Semitism it doesn't matter if you're atheist or not as long as you are Jewish you are prone to anti-Semitism when you'll go abroad (btw I'm an atheist Jew) so the "reclaiming" of the land is an excuse for the religious but the rest it's a safe place to be a Jew unlike Europe.
@ellarutman6290

@@derranlawston4052 the reason that Israel goes out of its way to include specific Shabbat elevators is so that all people (orthodox or not) feel comfortable, welcomed, and :) included. this inclusion is highly valued in Israel as jews historically have been excluded and/or felt unwelcomed.

By being someone who isn't able to travel very far or very much, this is the place where I can go to see different places and being able to learn about that specific place, learning new things every time you post. It also allows me to feel like I have also experienced it, even though I am only seeing it through a screen, mainly through both your interactions with the camera an how you engage with the audience. Damon I'd like to thank you a lot for actually asking questions while also maintaining some neutrality. Of course everyone can have their own opinions but everything I've seen of this conflict is usually very slanted. Also thank you for showing a tourist's perspective of the West Bank. I've seen so many tourist videos in Israel but none in Palestine.

@AlexTseHD 5 лет назад
@@olivereckert2492 Well I'm definitely not saying he's completely neutral. That's pretty much impossible. He has his opinions just like I have mine. I'm sure if I made a video about that region I'd have a different angle than his but I'm just commending Damon for generally keeping neutrality and being willing to hear both sides out. Specifically I like that he finds the humanity in both sides and is able to separate the people from the politics while also keeping the politics' role in the conflict in mind.
@tigerareyouthere

I think that generalizing all ultra Orthodox Jews is hard since I come from a community that is not closed off, welcomes everyone, encourages its people to explore and learn by experience and interaction. Closing off the community from the rest of the world does not happen in every ultra orthodox community. Aside from that, I’ve been to Israel many times so it’s really cool to finally get the other side of the story. This seriously has been so fascinating!
@michaelacohen3308
@michaelacohen3308 5 лет назад
sepa 100 If you want to hear another side of the story, then the last thing you have to do is to listent to this video. Do you think it is legitimate to compare Arab residents in villages with places of entertainment and touristic attraction in Israel? Do you really think that Israelis live this way every day? Visit the southern and northern periphery where most Israelis live and say Hi to children of Sderot and surrounding communities, and to the farmers whose fields were burned by Hamas' gas balloons. animals were also burned alive.

If anyone has more questions about anything in the video or otherwise, I'd be happy to answer some of them. I spent a couple of years living in Jerusalem, first in a yeshiva (rabbinical school) to become an Orthodox rabbi, and then as a citizen after making aliya (becoming a citizen) and working as a core staff member for a Birthright trip provider. I also worked as an industrial mashgiach (kosher certification rabbi) in the United States for a bit. Almost half of the scenes of this video were shot a couple of block from my apartment. This was my life, my reality. For a while. Two years ago, I had a series of epiphanies that led to a full-on crisis of faith. My entire world opened up. Since then, I've moved back to Seattle and have been working on building a new life in the "real world", and it's definitely been a ride. Damon, thank you for putting this out. It's crazy seeing something so intimately familiar from an outsider's angle: both yours, and now mine.

Do you think that comparing Arab residents in Palestinian communities to places of entertainment and attraction in Israel is legitimate? You should visit the southern and northern periphery where most Israelis live and say hello to children in Sderot and surrounding communities, and to farmers whose fields were burned by Hamas' gas balloons, the animals in the fields were also burned alive.

Believe me, a conflict going on for 70 years, this video did NOT give you “real world knowledge”. Maybe search a little online and read. Damon here gave you a one sided, short, rugged singular point of view.

This is a very interesting topic for me because I am christian and my boyfriend of 4 years was raised in an orthodox jewish family. I never judged them but I dislike how closed off they seem as well as the fact I have not met them because they refuse to accept me into their sons life. I can't wrap my head around it since my christian mother accepts my jewish boyfriend.
@rachelb6565
@rachelb6565 5 лет назад
Alexa barbieri it’s nothing personal but the Torah doesn’t allow a Jew to marry out (a non-Jew). In the case where a Jewish guy marries a gentile woman, their offspring are no longer Jewish. They are essentially cutting off future Jewish generations. As noninclusive as it may seem, these are just the facts. Judaism is the most beautiful religion and relationship, and in order to preserve it we cannot assimilate.
@karlabaudelia5474
@karlabaudelia5474 5 лет назад
Muslims as well however a bit different. A Muslim male can marry anyone, but Muslim female have to marry a Muslim. My Husband is Muslim and I am Christian.
@Grassfedlex
@Grassfedlex 5 лет назад
Rachel, it doesn’t “seem” noninclusive, it IS noninclusive. The fact his parents will disown him when we get married over religion is extremely sad and heartbreaking. I could never disown my child for marrying outside my faith, what kind of religion is that? It doesn’t bother me anymore but rather makes me feel bad for the orthodox community as they look down on regular Jewish people who don’t goto temple, wear wigs etc. so trust me I don’t take it personally. They miss out on so much because of their religion. I live a full life because of my beautiful, non judging faith.
@rachelb6565
@rachelb6565 5 лет назад
Alexa barbieri you’re right, it is noninclusive but what I was trying to explain is that it’s not because we think we are better than others or that others are undeserving of intermingling with us. Rather, by intermarrying we are marrying out of our religion, cutting off future Jewish generations, and lessening the Jewish people. If we love our religion so much and wholeheartedly believe in it, how can we do that which our Torah directly prohibits? You are wrong in your assertion that our experiences and enjoyments in life are limited due to our religion. The Torah is the ultimate guide to the perfect and best life-anything and everything is included in it. I understand why it may seem that we judge others as less than but it really is not the case. I cannot speak for every Jewish person but that is not what Judaism is about. We live our lives according to God and His commandments and do so with love and joy. When it comes to levels of observance, to each his own. It is not up to us to judge others’ doings or non-doings. However, unlike other religions that conform to modern day ideology to please everyone, we haven’t. We won’t change what the Torah says or our beliefs of what is proper and right. Accordingly, one of the major truths that we have always known is that we can not intermarry. It is something we can not accept because it is and always has been explicitly prohibited to us. As much as there are incredible people who aren’t Jewish and who’d like to intermarry, we can’t change the facts. This is no way means that we look down upon gentiles or do not respect them. In fact, there have been numerous gentiles who have helped save Jews and the like who are known amongst us as “righteous among the nations.” I am sorry for your position and I can understand how difficult of a situation you must be in. But the assertions you’ve made based off of your situation are false. I hope you understand that.
@karlabaudelia5474
@karlabaudelia5474 5 лет назад
Rachel you make a lot of sense. Some religions look down on opposed religions because they continue to believe in what their word ,(Torah, Bible, and Quran) strictly tells them to believe. They have every right to believe it because in their belief it's the word of God. For example modesty is shown in all 3 books as a gift to the Husband that should be kept even in the Bible. It says that a woman should not cut her hair and wear modesty clothing etc. But although culture has chosen to disregard these scriptures it's still there the word of God doesn't change. We as humans change it for our own personal interest. Which would explain the different denominations within one religion specifically Christianity: Apostolic, Jehovah's witnesses, Pentecostal, Catholics, Baptist, 7th day Baptist...etc.
