In a difficult time in my life, mentally and physically, I came across Stoicism by chance. Introduced by Ryan Holiday, I started reading and listening to him and other individuals to grasp as much as possible in the shortest time. Stoicism made me a better man, dad, husband and employee. Thanks for keeping Marcus, Epictetus, Seneca and Zeno alive (hope I didn’t forget anyone).
YOU made you a "better man", Stoicism only provides a possible path and some wisdom, YOU did/do the work... which is the point of this (and other) videos.
Ryan, you are like the father I never had. Listening to you is like listening to a fater. Thank you for everything you do, you are making the world a better place. Marcus Aurelius would be proud of you. I'll be sure to pay it forward man
My ptsd is going bye bye just from your videos it's amazing I am finally controlling my anger and issues. Can't thank you enough God bless happy holidays
Lately I have been trying to put more time, reflecting on stoicism. I have been finding myself trying to be more aware towards my feelings and thoughts. Interestingly, My behaviour has beeb changing.... I like it. Thank you..
Stoicism is something that is so simple and practical and that it seems so easy that I never did it, but when I did I slowly changed it was painful but it was a good pain, something I'm willing to go through over and over again to become better. Thank you Stoics and Thank you Ryan
I like to continually watch your videos because they not only have made me a better person but, going back over older videos, I usually look at what you're saying differently. This is because I'm growing, and my perspective has changed. It's just an endless cycle, and I love it. Keep making these videos!
As someone who didn’t have a present father figure growing up, I realized I’ve been drifting and wanting to focus my thoughts, stoicism has become my anchor to each day and be more aware within the positive aspects of life, not just dwelling in the negatives. Thank you! I am so happy for Ryan Holiday’s immediate circles, and especially his family. Imagining if it is available to find videos of my father, speaking in terms of making life better, his struggles, his findings. To then rally it all up with a community around stoicism. Aspiring. Thank you all.
I read about stoicism in a newsletter. After that I wanted to look up more about it and got to your channel. And dude, I only „practiced“ being stoic for few weeks, but anxiety is already at the lowest point this year and self esteem grew a lot. Just wanted to thank you man, you’re great!
I like the twist on responsibility and problems I heard Will Smith say: it is not your fault, but it's still your responsibility to deal with the problem.
I like to award that to the difference between responsibility and accountability. Everything that happens to you was not your responsibility, rather you didn't have dominion over what happened to you. However you do still have to take accountability or ownership over them so that they are yours to resolve.
@@skylerhuston8766 however we cut it the idea is sometimes things happen to us or around us without our previous involvement. But as grown ups we are to decide how we play. This approach takes the blame and fault away from the equation, and many people blame themselves for such events. At leats that's how I understand it. Best regards!
Thank you! Without a doubt you are a life teacher and a life saver. I hold on to your words and reminders for finding the way, for not drowning in problems. Thanks!!!
Of the many motivational channels that exist, definitely find this to be perhaps the best suited for me. Was faced with unfavorable circumstances, my business is doing badly, to make up for it in order to literally survive and not lose my place chose to revert back to work I did not want to ever do again- leaf removal. For myself, using my Subaru and husky bags. Had finally built a viable online business that had starting earning enough to live from and reinvest and grow, but the platform I use made changes to the algorithm. Sales have fallen dramatically. Bad. Thus, back to hard and dirty physical work but instead of walking away and experiencing mental defeat followed not long after with more hardship, I chose to follow through and now have many leaf removals lined up. The principles herein have helped me, thanks for great content.
One more. And this comes completely from me, to my knowledge. " You may not be able to take it with you, but you can certainly enjoy it while you're here".
I truly look forward to this episodes I like the way you explain things don't talk about it be about it don't argue what a good man should be be one the best revenge is not to be like your enemy we choose how we respond not what happens to us thank you keep up the amazing work.😁👍🏼
"This isn't your responsibility but it is your problem." I also like the point that fault is about the past, and responsibility is about the future, and they can belong to different people. If you get up in the morning and there's a newborn baby in a cardboard box on the doorstep, this is absolutely not your fault unless you put the baby there. But it is your responsibility to take care of that baby, probably by calling social services keeping it warm until the professionals arrive.
I remember one day in the trenches of motherhood, postpartum with my second, feeling sorry for myself. I was sleep deprived, with so much to do and not enough time to do it----- Finally told myself to toughen up. I remember thinking Nanny McPhee is not gonna walk through the door and save you. It is amazing how different things looked and how much more I was able to accomplish once I told myself the truth. The truth was I always had the time and energy to do the next thing.
Ryan you run a tight ship sir & the extra organization makes this content a pleasure to interact with. 👍🏼 Thank you and Happy Holidays Mr.Holiday (sorry) ☺️
I pray that anyone reading this dealing with depression, suicide, self doubt, anxiety, loneliness, lust (fornication), abandonment, rejection, homosexuality, lust (fornication) pain and trials knows that you are loved. The Most High loves you, especially my black kings & queens (called Israelites). Judgement is coming to this world very soon, but if you want change seek the kingdom and follow the ways of Yahusha (The Messiah). [Psalms 84:11]. He created you, cry out to Him! [1 Corinthians 6:9-10] Shalom, Repent, and Give your life to The Most High! 💙
When asked what is best in life: "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women." - Conan the Barbarian
Don’t be like them, live well, punish them hard and without remorse. Show them great mercy if they repent long and hard and show genuine remorse after repenting for years. Remember that part of feeling whole is have balance and also feel like you have gotten justice.
Real stoics are so needed and the fact that, they are murdered, is stupidity, because it's not possible for one body to take on the toll of an entire family.
What do stoics say about hating yourself for hurting someone and asking for forgiveness. Just before the New Year I reached out to someone and apologized. She said my message made them tear up, so I hope she forgave me and that those were happy tears ... however, I still blame myself for making them hurt in the first place. Yesteryears we should of had beautiful memories together, but due to my demons and insecurities I hurt her. She said we will always be friends even from afar. I hope one day to have a real shot at a second opportunity so we can be real friends or maybe even more than friends. Don't squander your opportunities people! I did and my soul hurts for it. Regret is something that won't go away.
