I’ve had majority of my holdings of about $2m in tech stocks and irrespective of market changes, I’ve done pretty well especially with apple’s P/E(price to earnings ratio) gaining over 30% this past decade, now my questions is what stocks do you think will be the next apple in terms of growth for the next decade.
It might be difficult finding the next apple within the tech stock sector, apple has performed way better than the others, maybe look outside of tech stocks.

"poverty isn't not having enough" like hell it isn't. Yes, a person in poverty can be happy despite everything. Maybe they even made that decision and it doesn't feel like poverty. But while my family has never been in that situation I had to watch my mom struggle. Circumstances of the time and all. Poverty is more than "wanting more."

When I had my leg amputated last year, I tried telling myself, "My body is perfect exactly as it is." I could never make myself believe it, so I tried, "This body is awesome exactly as it is." That went better, it almost landed, so I kept it for a while. Then five months after the operation, I came to, "This body is enough, exactly as it is." I've kept that. So far.

A colleague of mine introduced me to "Courtney Heath Williams", who drew out investments plans and they all aligned with what i wanted and had to pick one plan and with his exit and entry strategies on commodities, securities and digital assets, my portfolio has really been diversified with good ROI. These are very valuable rules for anybody who wants to get rich. Unfortunately, most people who will watch this video will not really be able to apply the principles. We may not want to admit, but as Warren Buffett once said, investing is like any other profession-- it requires a certain level of expertise. No surprise that some people are losing a lot of money in the bear market, while others are making hundreds of thousands in profit. I just don't know how they do it. I have about $109k now to put in the market.

@@carter3294 Yeah, financial advisors could make a lot of difference, particularly in a market such as this. Stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 250k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are a lot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look. I have been using an FA since 2019, and I return at least $21k ROI, and this does not include capital gain.

I have been working with "NICOLE DESIREE SIMON" for about four years now, and she's really, really good. If she meets your discretion, then you could go ahead with her. I endorse her.
My mom needs to think this way. She's been "in love" with a scammer for over a year now. She's given him 10 thousand dollars. And he always has an excuse of why he can't fly out to see her just yet She's such a know-it-all that she's positive he's really who he says. Something similar happened to me, until I took a step back to analyze everything, by then it was too late. BUT it could've been a lot worse, so I'm glad I got out of it. Epictetus's view on cheap vs expensive possessions is skewed in my opinion. My perception of his stance is: you cannot allow yourself to buy something expensive because the world will steal it from you. So it is better not to invest or have nice things. If you live in poverty and your car is stolen... you cannot simply "just" go out and buy a cheaper car because it will still cost you as well as additional expenses. What if you were depending on your car because of work, and you live far from town because renting an apartment is out of your budget. Say you and your partner saved up enough hard earned money for a long time, enough money to buy a family home... and suddenly your home gets destroyed, burnt down or whatever... along with valuable and priced possessions that are dear to you. Now you're just supposed to accept that loss. Accept that after many years of saving up, hours of work, effort and etc... you just move on? Don't get me wrong! Stoicism is great on many levels and i try to practice it every day... I just find it some times to be too cynical, black and white or whatever you want to call it. And yes, i did exaggerate some of the examples... Because that's the reality some people face.

2:06 "Ability to be generous" makes no sense. It conflicts with other ideas like "knowing when you have enough". If you have money you can give away you clearly accumulated too much. Or should we work to pile up mountains of money in order to be generous? Giving out money imo is an ego trip. Not healthy. There's also the logistically problem of being able to do a favor for anyone who asks. Americans living in places like the Philippines will tell you they're asked for money often. If they hand out money the word spreads fast and the line gets longer. Even Bill Gates would run dry. IMO it's better to be generous with your time. If you've reached a point of having enough for yourself you can then donate your time. That has a limiter. 100 people can ask you to help them fix up their house. If you give your time to help fix their house you can only help 1 at a time The other 99 will understand. If you're handing out money to help fix houses you can dole out to all 100 in a short time and become poor in the process.

Yes. The strength is in accepting, rebuilding perception. SERIOUS strength here. I have a community that looks to me for this, sharing, giving, and understanding. I've been following these principles for decades, and have developed a gift to give others that has been well recieved and sought for. What I find hard, is not having enough for my kids, trying again and again. Believing in myself, yet not getting far enough. I personally can find wealth in what I have, and share, and have found joy in the connection and respect. But, making my kids live in poverty, because I can't figure out how to be in a better place. Cuts me to my core. Helping others, and still being in a place of struggling to give food. Will they be stronger, because of lack? Or because I have a sense of "wealth" in our lives, with or with out ability, or stability? I have no idea. I hope so. But I've seen so so so many falter without. So I have to try harder somehow. Be gone more. Live up to the absent father cliche. Yet still not give the stability I believe could make a difference. Where is the piece I'm missing? I could be the island fisherman, who never has enough, but has enough. Effectively leading by example. And I'm about to lose our home again, 3rd time. How can I possibly show them, that it's ok, because we have love? It's so inspirational to hear these things that I've come to know and believe, long before finding this channel. I'm not discovering what will help me make a difference. Which honestly leads me to think, this is for people with money. Not people who actually struggle, wether or not that struggle is in the mind. Because i know better. And yet I'm still here.
30 years ago I was you. My kids are grown now and looking back we all talk about those tough years. My sons (I have 3) grew up with these basic teachings. Although I didn’t know about stoicism. There were times we had to make a meal out of nothing. They joked that I was the worst cook…but I always reminded them that we didn’t always have all the ingredients. We got imaginative. I always told them that people who aren’t rich in money have to be creative problem solvers. We as a family were rich in so many ways. Happy. We couldn’t take vacations or enjoy things that others had. I drove a very old car. So we went to the river and I taught them how to catch crawdads. Taught them how to hunt and fish. How to respect nature. My sons only had me. And I worked long hours to provide for them. Kids are young for such a short time. If you invest in them for those first ten years, they become your best work. Things got easier but to this day we value all the right things in life. You can’t buy it. It’s something you earn. Thankfully they all live better than we did back then. They are frugal with themselves but not stingy with others. They remember that one reason we survived was by taking in another mother and her kids. We shared expenses for several years. That’s how I kept our home. I knew her, so it wasn’t like taking in strangers. It worked for the hardest years. I don’t know your situation but I believe you will figure things out. You’re doing fine. It will be okay. Look back on your hard times and have a laugh.

Ahhh, I hear you. There are (or have been) times when my focus was hard on what I didn’t have. No food in the refrigerator. No phone in my house. No gas in my car. But I began to realize that I had a refrigerator. I had a house. I had a car. These are huge things. I had the dream that things would get better. Value poverty. Poverty teaches you to be creative. A wealthy person is never tested the way a poor man is. They will never understand what it’s like. The rich are lacking in an appreciation for simple things. You have access to the internet. A wealth of knowledge that just one generation ago was impossible. Sometimes the bootstraps are what you need to design for yourself. Imagine trying to pull your boots on and thinking: you know what would help is a tab on each side. Cut them out of scraps, sew them on, and there you go. Scraps! Not gold inlaid expensive tabs, just throw away scraps. Get smart. That’s the easy part.
Many people don't have a car, refrigerator or the internet. I grew up on the Choctaw res. Most of my friends' families had no television or car and close to half had no phone. I agree that hardship is instructive but the p"poverty" that you experienced was in your mind. Service in the military was my only salvation and it was 4 years doing something that was morally repugnant. I've been quite successful but my cousins who weren't were no lesser people than me
You’re incredibly lovely. I started looking down the rabbit holes of stoicism after my 17y/o order a book on a story that is about it and it came coupled with a Bible. I was confused. I later learned the Bible was for school which was odd as he is in a charter but it prompted me to research and stumble across your videos. It feels for me like an organic continuation for a reboot of what got started for me in 2008 after gracefully surviving a brain hemorrhage. Diversify...20 0/0 in household budget, 20 0/0 in savings, 20 0/0 into real estate ..your home equity, 20 0/0 in commodities, 20 0/0 into index funds. Make up your own budget, & stick with it. Other ways to save $... buy a used vehicles, buy 2ND hand everything...except for groceries, & use the store flyer to buy groceries on sale !! Sell your stuff you don't want, or need. Come up with your own side hustle...
It is easy to say “nothing material matters” whenever you have a lot of material stuff or the ability to get it. Wealth comes in many forms and greed is something to be wary of slipping into bc as he said when is enough enough.
Just today I saw a post on Google from this Channel and the post said be unlike you. It had a great story about a Seinfeld episode. I read the article but I have to say I know it's stoic advice but it's the worst advice I've ever heard. I did that for five years in a relationship and I almost committed suicide. The best thing I've done is to find out who I am and accept every ounce of it.

I think all of this makes sense, but when you have money if you are already an average mental stable person, its very easy to be the best version of yourself.

this was so helpful I'm gonna give you a few tips also, point your toes while sitting crosslegged this relaxes the sciatic nerve. Make it a mindful practise- set an alarm to be aware of body/mind twice a day.. Keep the tongue flat on the roof of the mouth. Keep the shoulders relaxed don't pull down/back. Breath from the diaphram and learn vagus nerve techniques/feldenkrais/qi gong song to relax further

I recently learned about stoicism because I love philosophy and I was randomly looking for new books to read at the library so I checked out your book Lives of the stoics and honestly I feel a good connection with some of the stoics that were mentioned there. Particularly with Cleanthes and how he operates is similar to myself when it comes to work and bettering myself. Thank you for uploading on RU-vid btw and doing this for all of us.
