I stopped bulk-buying. For some larger families it can make sense, but now I find I know exactly what I have in the cupboards and what I need. I also quit food shopping in person - online only gives me more focus and I have a list of frequently bought items so I don’t overbuy or spend too much time browsing for things I don’t actually need.
no clothing that is only for sleeping in - All my clothes are comfy enough to sleep in. Also I have not ironed in decades (except for occassional sewing projects). I haven't given gifts for special occasions in 40 years or more.
I simplified everything in my life ❤. From working to shopping, friendships, wardrobe and lifestyle. Absolutely everything, and my life is more peaceful and meaningful. I agree with lots of points in your list 😊
For Christmas for my boys we do the four presents 1 is a want 2 is a need 3 is a wear 4 is a read Research has shown children are overwhelmed after 16 toys The less they have the more that they play with what they have!
I agree over shopping deliveries. Gave up going the shop in person years ago. A lot easier to budget and I struggled to manage with my daughter. I’d forget things or get overwhelmed. I order the ingredients for meals then decide what day I am cooking them by the dates supplied. I also stopped using different skin care. I just use almond oil now. Body. Face. Hair. A lot easier. Once you let go of a habit and get used to it it’s a lot easier.😊. Good luck to everyone one their journey.😊
I don't watch the news either, for the same reasons. And you have every right to keep your sanity and mental wellbeing, not just for your family, but for yourself in the first place. Good tips there! Keep it up!
I use to keep hand me downs for YEARS bc my two boys are 8 years apart. But by the time I would get to them I either didn’t like them or they didn’t hold up as well. I kept tubs of clothes and ended up never using most of them. Now I keep a small container with only the next size up. Not years up.
i like how some of your ideas are completely new (to me at least), one thing i did to ease my life, was to use the same shampoo/conditioner/shower gel as my toddler and feeding him the same breakfast and snacks everyday.
We as a family now use the same shampoo, shower gel/soaps and toothpaste which has really helped keep our bathroom tidy and minimal. My daughter does swim regularly and has a special swim shampoo and conditioner for those days but they live in her swim bag. I've simplified cleaning products too, one antibacterial multisurface cleaner is sufficient for 90% of jobs.
food containers - I swtiched to Ikea containers for everything - freezing, pantry, fridge, etc. they nest, rectangular/square shape very economical on space.
As an empty nester for 10 years - I finally only buy enough food for ME to consume. I have ONE kitchen cabinet for pantry items. No large pantry, no buying bulk, no memberships and for the most part minimal packaging.😅
I stopped mowing the lawn every week to keep it looking good. Now I harvest it a few times a year to provide supplement feed for my goats, pigs, and chickens.
I don't watch the news either and it has made a huge difference in my mental health. My husband and I exchange gifts, but we have decided not buy cards for each other anymore. A card for every occasion adds up, so we just write notes for each other. I also only shop at thrift stores and buy groceries online to save on impulse buying. I loved your list! 🩷 Great tips!
Wow this video was so interesting. Thank you for sharing. I've actually been thinking about quitting gifts between my husband and I but fet guilty. You explained it perfect. Just once in a while is fine
We do the same. We actually use our card for all every day purchases, then pay off monthly so no interest. It’s my way of simplifying because I can track all of our spending in one place on top of the additional protection. With all of the ways they can scam you these days, also for travel there are additional benefits, protection from fraud, insurance, low or no exchange fees.
I realized that the “hunt” for, or acquisition of, hobby materials was more satisfying than using them. I have amassed a huge supply of stuff for future use that I may never get to use. I stopped buying all but consumable goods. My hobby is stamping greeting cards. I stopped buying stamps but will buy cardstock, adhesives, and inks as I need them.
Cancelling tv on demand subscriptions like Netflix, Disney etc. Save money as there is no time to watch them all and guilt that we pay and don’t watch but don’t want to cancel eaither 😅
Hi you mention a show in a video but I never heard the name. You said they have people move al items out for time period to see how they feel without it all. Can you tell me the name of show and where I can watch it? Thank you!
As someone who has been through 13 rounds of IVF and still doesn't have a child after 5 years of trying... THAT is infertility. If you have 2 kids... you had trouble getting pregnant quickly. Yes, I'm tired and bitter.
