This seems so good! Cheaper than GoPro, many many improvements across the board, seems like the perfect choice at least for people new to action cameras who don't need many of them, many accessories and so on. For vacations, vlogs, random videos in snow, rain and so on. Great!
I love how you do the comparison between the three cameras without telling us which one is best. That's a great way to demonstrate the "fair and unbiased" aopproach to your channel. Another great video, thank you. I had no interest in buying another action camera, I have 3, but I watched because of the quality of your productions. I will now be purchasing the Action 3 and selling my Insta 360 one R now.
@@skrems and GP looking at the front screen that dji started and I'm pretty sure GP will follow on their next GP with a front touchscreen, quick charge, ect. I mean who doesn't copy anybody nowadays right?
I have a GoPro nine, so I was contemplating getting the GoPro 11. Ultimately, I decided on the Osmo action three which I should be getting pretty soon my reasoning, I simply heard too much about overheating, and Osmo action being more reliable. I was very tempted for the GoPro 11, because of the higher resolution output but if the camera overheats what use is the higher resolution?
i have no problem with the overheating, as long as you always rest the camera and it's battery. don't use 4k for very long straight hours. I do have experience overheating with OSMO ACTION 3, the video is not good. Now i realize that, i need to rest the camera after 1 hour. Also, make sure to choose the TURN OFF SCREEN, WHEN START RECORDING.
One thing that impresses me is the onboard audio. Obviously you will always get better audio with a separate mic setup, but for three tiny mics in a small waterproof box, it's surprisingly usable.
I will buy the action 3 specifically for its super wide angle view and the horizon lock. I bought a hero 10 and wasn't happy. Returned it 3 days later because the over heating was horrible. I couldn't record even 5 minutes of my outside using it to film a few gun range videos. I went back to my osmo 1 and now I have a reason to upgrade.
Definitely going to try out the Action 3. I film in airplanes and have a lot of trouble with the GoPros overheating and shutting off. Hopefully the Action 3 will be more reliable.
Finally !!!! What I wanted !!! Just missing field of depth. If they added that it will be a budget camera go pro killer! Always been a fan and using osmo action 1. Never upgraded to the 2 because I thought it sucked. Now its the best action camera ever !! Woohoo !!
FINALLY an updated version from the original Action 1!! I’m happy to see that they fixed the battery because twice I waterlogged my camera bc I thought the battery was in good and it wasn’t! Love the in depth video as always!
I love how detailed this review is and the quick comparisons just to show some of the diferences! MY Action 3 is in the mail, can't wait! Also, great price, good quality, actually listening to customer feedback, no bs media mod, innovations to improve usability, it's just great
Thanks for the great and informative review! Will definitely be getting the osmo action 3 for reliability and stability sake. although I think gopro has a better quality. DJI just works, and sometimes that's even better than quality because I will never lose content.
@@DimmyV The action 2 is an awesome set up but...I find it sucks when the battery dies on the camera module, the bottom module when you connect it, takes time to "charge" the top camera module. Ive been using the camera for biking so I never check the battery level until its dead :( the other thing too is when the camera memory is full it takes a while to send the files to the SD card. I love just using the camera...
@@jaygolden4218 yeah the pros and cons. I’ve been using it mainly in water and the footage is impressive even the audio. It was on offer so can never have enough camera angles. I actually think it’s a good vlog camera. FOV is great and 2.7k 16:9 horizon steady makes it great no matter which way you hold it
Aldryn, thanks for the great review. Like many others here, I had the original OSMO Action Cam and love it (and I am still using it ), then skipped on the Action 2 - the design just didn't work for my construction site helmet cam style of filming. But, after watching your comments, I just ordered the OSMO Action 3 through your link, so hopefully this will help you out. I went ahead and got the Adventure Combo to take advantage of the extra batteries and mounts. Thanks, Charlie
Great Review.Seems like the same camera as the Action 2 just redesigned. I just got the Action 2 about 1 month ago. I don't use it in extreme conditions or for longer period of times. I think I'm going to stick with the Action 2 because I love its unique design

Fantastic review. Looking at buying two for my motorbike, front and rear cameras. These look great. Can't really justify the extra cost of the Action 4's enhancements over the Action 3 for recording my riding trips.
Great to see DJI back on track after the Action 2 disappointment. I think all Osmo Action 1 fans will be very happy with this new camera. I actually bought a second Osmo 1 when the Action 2 came out as I thought it would be years (or never) before another model came out. Can't deal with GoPro. If I knew this was in the pipeline I would have held off. 🙂
I just got this after my GoPro 9 and it’s so much easier to use amazing to mount and just why haven’t gopro added these features to their camera. Can you imagine how many of us have got this instead of the gopro11.
Was hoping you would have a video on the Osmo 3. Your videos are comprehensive and accurate and I can see that you spent a lot of time putting this together. Thanks. I assume from the video that the batteries from Osmo 1 do not fit into the Osmo 3. So that I will have to take three of each type of battery with me.

Got the GP 9 as my first action cam and it's been nothing but issues. We going to upgrade to the 11 BUT this thing will be my choice instead. And for the price points it's a deal better than GP! Thanks DJI!!
This is very tempting but a mic jack built in is really what I want to see in my next cam purchase. I even own the DJI Mic so I have that option but having stuff hanging off the side is just not my preference anymore.
Pre ordered. The Hero 11 does not add anything I care. I mostly use action cams in the ocean when spearfishing or filming sea life. Much longer battery life, when you can't safely change batteries matters more than a little more dynamic range. The 16m depth rating is perfect, as the reef where I go is 10m, but occasionally I went 50ft/15m below. I use the Hero 10 without a case, but this is better if I need to go deeper. I have the Action 2 also, which I like the small size and the lack of ports, but the battery life is an issue. i may as well sell the Action 2 and mount the bare Action 3 without a case. The Hero 10 has nicer colors, lens than the DJI A2, and takes nice 20 megapixel still photos, so I may just keep it. The battery life, the quick switch button, the 16m depth rating really allow me better usability. Whether one camera has a slightly better IQ or stabilization is really not as relevant. They are all good enough. I would just like better low light, as I am in NY, and sometimes in the ocean at dusk, it can be dark.
DJI is doing a service to everyone, bigger sensor than GoPro 11, better battery life, no overheating, 10bit recording just like GoPro 11, HDR mode that GoPro doesn't have, a 10bit cinema mode for later editing, two touchscreens, better stabilization, external audio, an amazing battery case to hold and charge extra batteris and better grip mechanism. The only thing GoPro has is more resolution in their slightly smaller sensor which makes it shoot a 5.3K which is like double the pixels of the 4K but again that is when you can shoot with it and it doesn't shut off. Also when you can do flawless 4K up to 120fps I wouldn't bother with 5.3K especially with all the problems GoPros have. Also the horizon lock, GoPro can do in full resolution which again is only for those that go skydiving or skiing, the horizon leveling is still good enough for most cases.
Because I record my fishing trips, I need a hindsight pre-record feature. That's the only reason I'm still with gopro. But the DJI feature set is very nice, especially alongside the DJI wireless mic.

Hey Aldryn: That was excellent ! I was only interested in the GoPro vs the 3, but the other comparisons within gave me some worthwhile perspective for history of DJI.
Awesome shots!! I am glad that DJI chooses the original OA 1 design for Action 3, which will definitely be more rugged. But Insta360 X3 is obviously more impressive for me as a 3rd generation product.

Excellent comparison video! I have the Osmo 1 that I use mainly for 50 fps walking shots. I like the fact that the lens is less wide angled, for the type of videos that I make.
Thorough review. Just picked up the DJI Mini 3 Pro & your review tipped the scale in favor of the Action 3 & DJI wireless 2 channel Mic for the perfect land/sea/air coverage.
I go hiking and had been attempting to create video using my iPhone with a Deity mic and DJI gimbal, but it killed my phone battery and screen so I've been looking for an action cam solution. I'm put off by the Go Pro pricing and so started looking at the Akaso 8. However, clear audio is absolutely key for me and Akaso don't have a great track record in this area. Also, the Akaso 8 seems to be nonexistent. The Osmo Action 3 does everything I need. Thanks for a great review. I am now sold!
Excellent review! I ordered my Action 3 this morning. I am in no way an expert but I feel like the footage looks better than the GP11 and is all together more bang for your buck than the GP11.
Superb video Aldryn, the Osmo 3 seems like a winner and a £309 price point its gonna sell a ton, my Insta360 OneR Twin Edition is dead after being in a few feet of water so I'm in the market for a new action camera and this might be it, I'll wait to see what GoPro does with the 11 but there's no way they come in at £309
Hero 11 has better pic quality and higher resolution but it overheats and crashes like previous Gopro models. If you don't record for more than 30 mins, Gopro is fine, else take Action 3.
My old DJI Action 1 has better battery life than my GoPro 9. The batteries of GoPro 9 became bloated after 6 months, which the DJI action's are still solid.
Super awesome informative video Aldryn! You're killing me.....I just got my Insta360 a couple of days ago which I love! But.....can't change batteries or flash card. Looks like it's gonna be an additional DJI OSMO 3......of course I bought the DJI mini 3 pro during the summer. I've Never had any toys like this.....but the quality has gotten SO good, and, the prices are amazing! ~See you in the jungle!~ Best, Todd
Gopro 11 overheating issue shuts off before gopro 10 with stock battery you would think with the enduro stock for 11 it would have did better than gopro 10 I'll be keeping gopro 10 & get osmo action 3
