I just acquired a rescued turtle from a seriously bad situation. Now watching you to learn as much as I can. I set up a turtle pond outside for him, but in the winter I will need to bring him in. When setting up the basking area, what type of bulb and wattage do you use? I see some people using two bulbs, and some using one. What’s the difference? Thanks!

Great improvement from your previous videos! My only problem with either diy or commercial aquarium backgrounds is the bacteria that accumulates there. Otherwise great ideas.

Thanks! Some algae has accumulated on it but it gives a natural look, my filtration takes care of keeping the water clean and from any grime getting too out of hand!

Sure, but bacteria doesn’t get eliminated by the filtration. I almost installed those Universal Rocks backgrounds on 2 of my 75g tanks but my turtles' vet advised to not to do it.

@@albertsrour8687 They're filled with bacteria and so are you. With proper filtering and a substrate like this, a biological balance can be achieved. It's a bit trickier with turtles because they are such massive polluters, which is probably why your vet would advise against it. But if the fish can live and thrive in it for a long time, it should be fine. They have extremely resilient immune systems and would deal with far worse out in nature or even in a pond.

I've seen you create some cool tank setups before but this is the the best one yet. I'm using a tank topper but the ramp is too short. Did you make this topper or did you buy it? If you bought it, where did you get it? I would love a setup like this. My red eared slider us in a 55 gallon but he'll soon be too big for it. I'd love to get him a bigger tank and set it up like this.

Hey LLYT, tank looks great. I love your diy background and the turts look happy. I did have a couple safety concerns tho. I noticed that no one was wearing gloves while carrying in the tank. Gloves should always be worn when carrying something that heavy. Another thing I noticed is that your footwear did not have the strap on. Loose footwear causes dozens of injuries in America every 30 minutes. Once they publish the stats for the rest of the world I will update my numbers. Otherwise great video and tank build! I look forward to more of your content.

I recently have thought about adding fish friends to my tank but my turtle has always been alone and she use to fight with her sister before having separate tanks. My question would be how do I go about adding fish friends or is that something I shouldn’t even do ? Really cool set up by the way!

Only over the dry area! I use a Mercury Vapor bulb over the basking area which emits heat, UVA and UVB.

Mine don't care about it at all! The Drylok provides a good protective barrier from being able to just chomp off pieces.

Those turtles are so big that the 210G doesn't seem huge. What's the dimensions of the tank? Nice set up. The turtles have plenty of swimming space.

Thanks! They are huge! Stock tanks are great for certain setups, however difficult to cover to reduce humidity/evaporation indoors. I have plans in the future to go even bigger though! I have Silver Dollars in the tank, they are an excellent addition, thanks for the comment!
