I highly recommend adding a slight hang over glass across the back. Like a permanent lid, about 3in wide, to prevent him from climbing out. Don't underestimate him.

I love the new Timothy Tank! When my son was a youngster, he and father found a baby snapping turtle. It was as big as a US quarter. He should have been hibernating and would not make it through the winter. They brought him home and set up a tank. We kept him through the winter and let him go in the spring when it was safe. We released him at the same place as he was before.

Tip for a future background like that, you can use a drill and a wire brush bit to give more detail and roughness to the foam before painting.

I love when we go to the shop! Good choice of a companion for Timmy.

For my mud turtle, Vinnie, I use plants (currently java fern) rooted to small pieces of driftwood. He pushes them around without hurting them and often ends up creating a nice hidey spot for himself. Plus I just grab them out of the tank for cleaning so I don't have to work around them. Vinnie was a wild turtle who got run over years ago and is now blind with some minor neurological issues, so he's very messy and skittish. I want to build him an awesome new setup that meets his special needs and your tank is great inspiration! Timmy is adorable!

Turtles are very good climbers, I’d recommend adding a small rim to the back of the tank where the background is, or just a lid, but glass does filter out some uv so be careful.

It’s so good for Tiny Tim to have his own beautiful scape! Well done. He’s a lucky little turtle. ☺️

Would recommend putting a little glass/plastic lip by the top back edge of the tank, to prevent timmy from climbing out. Great video and a beautiful practical setup!🤘

I am new with aquarium but I know a lot about ponds. I cannot believe what you can achieve. Very informative video. I got a musk same as Timmy but slightly bigger. Will try to copy your aquarium as much as I can.

When you said warhammer I think my heart skipped a beat, I love both of this hobby and AoS.

I used the same type of foam on my tank & covered it with black sandblasting sand while wet. It looks like black lava rock. Love it.

Absolutely love Timmy's tank you did an amazing job with the back ground. Would be awesome to see thay back ground in one of the tanks with drift wood and rocks coming out of it. I could sit and watch a 24 hour video of your your amazing to watch. Love from Australia

Similar to my tank I use a floating feeding ring with suction cup so my turtle nows where the food is and neon tetra which are impossible too catch great contrast against the green plants loving the setup❤

Looks great! In the US we have some stuff called drylock and I tint it with concrete stain to achieve the colors I want. You can apply it directly to the foam and forget about the cement step. You may have something comparable across the pond, but I don't know.

Gotta say after seeing how you started with the foam I was very worried. But you did a applaudable job for a first time. I think you should have moved the rock work around the base of the 3D background but I hope to see more foam backgrounds from you soon

Wow... love this setup! Should super glue some mosses on the 3d background and on the wood for a more jungle look.

Tanks looking awesome but I do feel 10 zebra danios would work very well as well as the barb’s 😁.

the creases in that big light grey rock in the front remind me of a tied up roast hahaha

You could get a peace of Perspex cut to the size of the inside at the back, and then do it all on the top of that then slide it in the tank when finished
