I love how passionate you are about riding hard on your bike. You are a legit rider. Great video bro. I just turned 62 and have NOT been on a bike since I sold my Harley Street Glide 17 years ago. I decided it's time to get back on two wheels. I am an adrenaline junkie and need as much torque as possible and have always at a minimum done a stage 2. Those were the 88 twin cam engines on a 845 lb bike. I do NOT like going 100 MPH but love getting from zero to 60 as quickly as possible. I am older and not as strong as I used to be I want to go with a lighter more nimble bike. I was digging the Harley Low Rider ST with that 117 engine and fairing but bike weighs 727 lbs. I have only owned Harleys( 883, WideGlide, Softail Deluxe and Street Glide) and Somehow an Indian video popped up in my YT feed and when I saw the new Scout lineup I fell in love with the Scout. I dig the Scout more than the Harley Sporters. . From what I took away from your video, the Scout 101 with the bigger engine on a 547 lb bike would probably be a ripper because of the light weight. I live in Austin TX and want a bike to cruise around the city as well as longer 4 hour cruises in the Texas Hill Country. I would definitely change the pipes and try to squeeze as much torque out of engine as possible. Can you even do a stage 2 on a scout and change out the cam? Love to hear which bike you would go with if you had the funds to buy any model with the understanding I am a senior citizen. I seriously do not know if I could lift a bagger off the ground. Or even a 727 lb Low Rider. The other question I have is about adding a windscreen or some type of fairing. How important do you think it is having a fairing on your bike if you are NOT going cross country but short 4 hour rides? Back in the day I wore a $10 plastic brain bucket helmet just so I wouldn't get pulled over in NYC. These days almost EVERY video i watch even the most seasoned bikers are all wearing DOT 3/4 or full face helmets. Just wondering if wearing a full face helmet with the small fairing found on the Scout 101 would be sufficient to make the ride comfortable without too much buffering. Thanks again for video. You got a new subscriber.🤘

@director2bob awesome to hear you wanting to get back on 2! The scouts are great bikes and I also love the Lowrider ST but I completely understand why you want something lighter! The scouts do have fairings you can buy the reason I don't have one is it's just the style of the bobber. I thought about one but to me on this style it wouldn't really fit it. As far as the cams being changed on these yes you can change them, I think with the 1300cc kit it comes with new/bigger cams. If I had to choose a bike if I had more funds I'd just fully mod my scout to a 1300cc and definitely buy a few more bikes haha it's hard to choose just one because there's so many I like, from cruisers to naked sports all the way to sport bikes and adventures. So that said I'd have a collection! I hope you find a scout that fits your style and your ride but beware of the stiff rear suspension. There are a few company's that make inflatable seat cushions and they help ALOT, my fiancé uses one and it's helps her out alot on the long rides. I wish you luck on your adventures!! Thank you for liking the content!

@@scooterbobscout thanks for quick reply. Did you change the pipes on your bike or keep them stock? I have changed the pipes on every bike I owned except on my first bike 883 Sporty. And would for sure do the 1300 upgrade. Seems like the bike would rip on such a low weight ride. Of course need to add saddlebags but that’s all I need. Can’t wait to test drive one when I get back to TX. Safe riding my friend🙏
@scooterbobscout
@scooterbobscout Месяц назад
@director2bob yes I changed the pipes I have shorty gp slip ons it's LOUD lol and even my bike the 60 with a few mods is quick, the 1300cc kit for the scouts makes em really quick! I've had this bike to 142mph I wanted to see what it had. Again I've got intake pipes and custom tune. I plan on sending it to a dyno to try and pull a few more horses out of it at some point soon! Thank you hope you enjoy it, I should suggest riding the sport chiefs also. Those r pretty nice bikes, not as fast as the scout but a super nice bike non the less. Good luck my friend!

Honestly..I bought the 60 bobber for the same reason, I think the extra 3k for and extra 113cc wasn't worth it when I could spend less in performance upgrades to get the same power and I liked the blacked out cylinder heads better

Lol!!!! Yes for the most part, hardest part is taking the tank pff to do filter maintenance and spark plugs. Oil change is super easy, 2 bolts, oil filter is super easy to access also. Just redid the fork oil as well and it was a breeze. Vulcan are sweet bikes! I had a 98vn800 classic and I miss that bike every single day because I wish I still had it as a secondary. That bike was super reliable, it saw rev limiter in every gear the whole time I owned it and it never ever had a problem lol 😆

Amazing video Scooterbob! thanks for the priceless work Forgive me for my ignorance, but I have my eyes on this scout and the sport chief, I know they both are 2 different worlds, but my biggest doubt with 'em is the engine, the scout has a liquid cooled engine and the sport chief an air cooled engine. My doubt here is... which engine can be more reliable? I have heard too many positive as negative words on both, and now I just don't know what to think... I hope someone can help me -Keep up the good work and ride safe!
@scooterbobscout
@scooterbobscout Год назад
Thank you so much! So here's the thing, both bikes are great, they both have there good and bad, so, with that being said, it all comes down to what YOU want. You should test ride both a few times to get a feel of them both them make a decision of which one fits you best. Both engines are awesome, can't beat liquid cooled, but the indian air cooled engines are super awesome as well. Its about preference to what you enjoy, but either one is a good bike non the less!

I put 16000 miles in two summers on my Scout Bobber. Scouts are awesome. Just oil changes and gas. I put MCCruise cruise control on mine. Took it to a whole new level on the highway (not to mention better highway mileage because you aren’t constant modulating throttle). Anyways you can’t go wrong with the Scout if you are looking for that forward control Bobber look. The look does come at a comfort cost but if your a real Bobber fan that’s the price you pay. I constantly have Harley guys around my Bobber. They are always intrigued. I love Harleys and pretty much every bike not the road. But we all know Harley guys hate looking at anything that is not Harley lol so to see them around my Scout is always fun.

Kinda late but so be it- I honestly was looking for a reg scout rogue, but pricing in CA puts it at near 20k once all the docs are signed- I found a new gloss black 22 rogue sixty and price was 2500 less- I honestly didn’t find too much difference in pick up and go- top end gear may be a bit taller but, what are we talking about 200-300 rpm difference? Anyway I immediately added som RCX loud pipes, 21st century LED headlight and an Indian performance tune and filter, essentially stage 1’d it. The bike hauls ass and I’m still below reg scout pricing- my only gripe is the freeway rpm’s get a little vibration’y in the grips and Joker bear traps- but I’m new to v-twins and it seems that this is the norm - is that your experience? Also considering going with a PV3 tune later on, worth it? Thanks for the video-

'20 Scout Bobber - Trask slip-ons and Indian performance intake + Dynojet dyno tuned I get 90BHP to the rear wheel measured on the dyno. A great upgrade for the scout sixty is to do the big bore mod. Then it ends up exactly the same as a normal scout that does the big bore. Both engines are then the same. I noticed you mentioned it in the video. However, missing a 6th gear might be a nuisance with 120BHP :P I'd also invest in a windshield with that kind of speed. Scout Bobber is my first ever motorcycle. Another difference between the two is the headlight style and some other minor aesthetic differences.

I grew up in the 70's & 80's on a panhead. Honest old school, not trying to be cool. One of the guy's my father rode with had/ has a 48 chief. In the beginning i thought it was the ugliest ride ever, after about 5 - 10 year's, i wound up in love with it. I've wanted an Indian my whole entire adult life. My father wouldn't allow it due to hard to find parts, companies buying Indian and going under, just all kinds of good solid reasons. Thankfully Polaris bought them, and made them what they are today. I look at people on Harleys today and wonder WHY they buy them? Are they trying to buy something they're not or do they not know to shop around and make their own decisions. I will always have a soft spot for Harleys, i still have the 56 pan, but my Indian is my new love. Yup, I'm an old woman who still rides!

@scooterbobscout
@scooterbobscout Год назад
Doesn't matter what you ride, the freedom that comes with riding is bliss, im a first responder so my bike saves me from stress. The scout platform is amazing and I have just as much HP as you do, I've got a aftermarket intake, pipes and tune as you saw. So my 81-82hp to the wheel is around or just under your 100hp if you have the big scout but like I said, the 60 is plenty fast as is. Indian is king of the cruiser world right now due to bang for buck. No harley makes me feel the way I do on any indian (I've test rode everything they have created). Indians are just awesome bikes and the community surrounding indian motorcycles is WAY more laid back and respectful than ANY harley group or rider. The harley community is mostly all cocky egotistical people that ruin their own brand even though they tell everyone to get harley. That's mainly why I bought an Indian, because every indian rider is the coolest rider you'll ever meet, rather it be someone a bit older in a cruiser, or someone like me who rides with sport bikes! I come from the philosophy of true riding which entails a community that watches out for each other no matter what you ride or how fast it is and it's beautiful. Love peace and chicken grease brother, don't let your meat loaf and ride safe!! I hate riding in the cold even though I'm in Florida 🤣🤣

I don't know how modern ABS is, but it used to be that it's only for straight line braking, and really it only stops you better when the pavement is wet. ABS gets a bit dangerous on a curve when braking hard. It can actually cause the tire to slide out from under you. It's a weird feeling when the ABS kicks in on a curve. Scary stuff. Now this is with an old ABS system on my '93 BMW K1100 LT, so I don't know if it's like that on new ABS systems, but it sort of makes sense that you wouldn't want to depend on ABS on a curve, that you would not want ABS to engage on a curve. Yet, neither would you want to brake skid on a curve either. On the wet road, straight line braking, I'm all for ABS. That's the only time, though, with my bike.

I bought a brand new Scout 60... This is my first bike and I just took it out for my first ever ride today. I can't stop thinking about it, it's got all the power I need as a learner *and more.* It's a Liquid cooled litre bike... Which is definitely a LOT for a new guy. I'm in love with it. Don't you wish all bikes had fuel gauges? Riding on the interstate, have you noticed how the road signs will hide towns? It's crazy. How can you plan your gas stops when they hide cities? It's a real guessing game. Do they do that just for us bikers?
@scooterbobscout
@scooterbobscout 11 месяцев назад
I totally agree! It's all about knowing how many miles you can go (roughly) on a full tank and then knowing how many miles your riding and estimate, per your milage, how much you have left, and yea some road signs that do that are STUPID lol so fill up when you can when riding for a long time and when you see gas stations. On long rides that your unsure of, never stretch out that last 10 miles or so, because that next gas station might be further lol

@stevef8065
@stevef8065 Год назад
The fact that you’re getting the riding performance you are proves you’re a DAM good rider.....the Progressive front springs will have your front wheel hug the road solid! With the right spring/front suspension set up your shocks will have a “progressive rate” this is so as the spring compresses the pounds of compression will be set to help you hug the tight turn while adjusting as needed through the turn to allow for maximum speed with correct bike placement. Or you can go to a custom high performance suspension shop but that’s expensive. When you order them make sure you talk to someone knowledgeable so the set up including the fork oil weight is right for what performance you want. Be sure to review it after u upgrade. I’ll be watching.
