The month of May was a busy month for big steam in the east U.S. We start over Memorial Day weekend on Saturday May 28th with newly restored ex-Reading T-1 2102 return to steam pulling the first Iron Horse Rambles excursions from Reading Outer Station to Jim Thorpe, PA. this marks the first time 2102 has pulled a passenger train since 1991.
Then one week earlier Nickel Plate Road Berkshire 765 visited Ohio again pulling the Steam in the Valley excursions. These shots of 765 are from the second weekend May 20th, 21st, and 22nd. Steam in the Valley looked a bit different this year being held in the spring and due to a washout the train could only go as far south as the Jaite trailheads before returning north to Rockside Station.
Sit back and enjoy the sites and sounds of these two excellent steam locomotives!
