I just put a Amazon carb on my 2000 rancher, it worked thank goodness

Good to hear. I saw so many mixed reviews on aftermarket carbs I just went with the OEM. Mine has been trouble free for a couple years now. I still use the ATV regularly.

Glad you got it going! I’ve had a Honda Recon, Rancher, and now a Foreman. All have been good four wheelers.

For $1500, plus about $240 in parts so far, I think its this one was a fair deal. Hope it runs for a while now without needing something else.

Great video Phil. Replacing the carburetor is a great idea - much better than trying to rebuild and mess with them. I replaced the carb in our trimmer, the Honda Forman, and our Club Car golf cart. So great to have it running right after basically a "bolt in" replacement! :)

Glad to see you got it fixed. Maintenance is not my strong point. I get so frustrated when it takes longer than I think it should. Not to mention all the time I spend looking for the right tools, lol

Prior to starting our farm 2 years ago, I didn't do any of this kind of stuff, but I'm getting better and more comfortable with the reality tha stuff will break and everything needs maintenance.

My nephew is our resident mechanic. I'm trying to learn, but something that I never had much interest in. Yet, sure is cheaper doing it yourself verses paying someone.
@WoodsTreeFarm
@WoodsTreeFarm 3 года назад
Yeah, this old ATV wouldn't really be worth paying someone else to fix up. Runs like a dream now. We're not really running it hard around the farm, so I hope it lasts a while now.

Nice job Phil! That looked to go pretty smooth. I got a kick of you flying by the camera.
@WoodsTreeFarm
@WoodsTreeFarm 3 года назад
Thanks Jeff! It wasn't a bad job. Took about 40 minutes. Would have only been 20 mins if I didn't have to hunt down tools a couple times and fiddle with the camera.

Nice job, Phil. It is hard enough working in tight spaces, but futzing with a camera too makes it especially hard! Thanks for taking us along! Cheers!

Thanks for watching! I've done a few different maintenance/repair videos and they're all uniquely challenging to film. I think this one came out well.

That wire to the carb may be is a electric operated valve to control the flow of gas to the carburetor. Just a quess😮

💥 Another problem solved! That property of yours sure is beautiful! It’s really shaping up. Didn’t realize that road acted more or less like a dam for the pond. Is there a culvert to allow water through? *Keep on tractoring!* 😁👍
@WoodsTreeFarm
@WoodsTreeFarm 3 года назад
Yeah buddy. That road is on the dam. There's a culvert for overflow at the end of the road.

Thank you! My 2001 Rancher has many miles; also started leaking preaceous clear gas from the over flow. X2 on: no prior experience with forestry and the massive amount of equipment maint. DIY to save money and keep learning.

I need to get a four wheeler for our farm! It’s always good to go with OEM Honda parts. It seems some of the aftermarket parts just don’t work right. Keep up the good work!
@WoodsTreeFarm
@WoodsTreeFarm 3 года назад
Yes you do! It really is great for getting around the property in a hurry, and its lower impact on the ground than my truck and tractors.

Has the new carburetor started leaking? My used 2000 Rancher es350 had an aftermarket carb when I bought it. It leaks and started leaking at the tank fuel petcock. I noticed the plastic tubing in the tank had disintegrated replaced fuel petcock and cleaned the carb bowl. So far no leaks. xxx

No, it's been trouble free for a while.

You can’t go wrong with OEM parts. Some of the cheapies are a crapshoot at best. Could Honda have made the carb more complex? Ok, it may work well but really? My Pilot has a blinker relay on the backside of the fuse panel. It’s a 2 hour job to replace! I enjoyed the video.

Maybe overengineered, but might run forever!

That wire to the carb could be a electronic choke. My Cat has that

I looked it up, and its actually a heater element

Good job but seems while you are fixing things someone could be cutting and splitting wood or watering your trees. Lol. Pick me. Lol. Team work and accomplishing two things at a time. Just a thought. I am a type A personality. Awesome job.

haha. I'll keep you in mind. We're actually talking about having a standing item on the calendar next year when people can come out to the farm and learn, volunteer, and work. Stay tuned. In the meantime, I got my 9year old training up for solo splitter duty. He'll be there in no-time.

Has the carb started leaking yet?
@WoodsTreeFarm

not at all. I haven't had to fiddle with it at all after the carb install. It still runs like a champ 2 years later.

Look great except my carb will not come off once I have everything disconnected. Absolutely will not come off.
@WoodsTreeFarm
@WoodsTreeFarm 2 года назад
make sure you've loosed the hose clamp on the rubber boot between the carb and engine. If that's done, maybe spray some wd40 in there?? don't know, should come right out.

Mine was stuck on really tight, too. Finally just pushed down really hard on it and it moved. Then I worked it back and forth until it freed up. Went back on much more easily and I didn't even lube it with anything.

good stuff, thanks for sharing. that little choke thingy almost made me lose my religion. Does your airbox have an inner and outter filter?
@MrTruckerf

Yep, they all do. It's a good idea to clean or replace the foam one. There was no question what to do with mine- the mice had snacked on it until it was gone.

How do you adjust the idle on that carb?
@WoodsTreeFarm
@WoodsTreeFarm Год назад
There's an adjustment screw you can turn by hand on the right side of the carb - the same side as the throttle cable
