Hi Alec, Another function of the greasing is to flush out any dirt or worn metal from the bearing. Pump till it's clean grease. I'm not sure if you removed them first but there are small plastic grease nipple caps that can help them to stay clean and not rust in the outdoor world. Happy trails Owen m

I did remove, clean and replace before adding new grease. Just so know that everything was perfect this year. A
