I play ethereal, evocative chords like that for kicks. It amuses me when I drop these open chords into a song at church and follow up with a melody line of the same. It pisses off the piano player large. He thinks they're jazz chords. They ain't. At least not to the point it's common. One is more likely to hear them on star trek( tos). You gotta keep these young players on their feet.

Wayne Neylan any chord can be rubbish/amazing depending on where you came from and where you are going. Context, timing, movement and also how a melody and your choice of rhythm will add different meanings to your «weird» chords...i think such things matter more than trying to decide whether a chord in and of itself is dogshit or great. Even the simplest most popular triad of a pop chord is out of place in some settings right. Or the same triad might be the coolest thing to use at that jazz gig to keep it fresh at that moment to take a break from the wackier chords. :)
