That just gave me an idea. Spenzers or Hot topic should sell a shirt that says: I am the terror that faps in the night. And have a picture of DW with one jacked arm.
In the cartoon I'd says Quackerjack is more like Harley Quinn then Joker. In the comics on the other hand... hoo boy. They cranked his creepiness up over 1000.
@@vincentfrick6880 when Batman has a literal mansion filled with money on the moon, have your people call my people. Also, Stark is richer than Wayne as well.
I got Jim Cummings' autograph. He was at a convention for the 20th anniversary of the show. The comic was being sold in the dealer's room and he and the artist and writer were signing them. He also scribbled a little Darkwing head next to his name.
A lot of the older shows Got picked up for Disney summer blocks, And ducktails was so popular it spawned the spinoff quack pack and later a reboot. Lots of people remember the Gummie bears, But at the same time, It just wasn't burning up the charts, It's in that regard lesser-known.
GetVictd yeah but humans get super strength. God I used to play pretend with gummy berry juice so much. I wonder what effect it has on other animals. How bout smurfs?
GetVictd AHHHH! Oh my god oh my god! You know that episode! Hehehehe. You just made me so freaking happy. You don’t even know. That is exactly what I was thinking
#5- His name is Steelbeak as in his beak that's made of steel. Don't know where you got SteelBANK. #8-Why is everybody so obsessed with an apocalyptic Planet of the Apes scenario with cartoon animals? This is just an alternate Earth where animals evolved not humans, just like Zootopia. #13- Drake Mallard actually gets his payment from the spy organization S.H.U.S.H. for all of his work helping them as Darkwing Duck.
@@candacewhite9040 it’s actually cool that he is being paid for what he do (and if you watched the show, you know that he deserves the payment lol) but it’s a mystery for me how Shush find him. Like, he was a hero for fun and Shush said “hey, wanna be paid for it?” Or he always worked for shush as a detective? The comics explain it? I’ve never read it…
11:20 "Negaduck acts as Darkwing's version of the Joker" said no one ever. Quacker Jack is the closest to a Joker, with a little Toyman thrown in for good meassure. Not every arch-nemesis is a version of the Joker. That's like saying Lex Luthor or Flintheart Glumgold are Superman's and Scrooge's versions of the Joker.
@@Alejandroigarabide nega had a portal from his dimension into DW's, normally in these shows the travel originates in the prime world. + take a look at how negaduck is always pissed of by dw. he's clearly insulted by dw existence alone in the parallel universe he also said his subjects can easily identify dw cause he looks like negaduck, so nega considers himself the original and the different origins of dw but only one with negaduck (except the split-version)
12:53 "McScrooge"? What????? Also, both DW and DuckTales are a shared universe. There are too many characters in common (Launchpad, Gizmo Duck, and cameos by Magica and the Beagle Boys in DW and the FOWL organization in DT) to be separated universes. In one episode (the one you referenced with the Scrooge billboard) Launchpad references having worked with Fenton (GizmoDuck) in Duckburg for the same employer. Both shows even had a Comicbook crossover called "Dangerous Currency" (wich shows that The Disney Company itself considers them the same universe, even tho the creators themselves might disagree). EDIT: Now I see you even mentioned the crossover comic. How could you miss it? The only contradiction would be different versions of J. Gander Hooter (one tall and big; one short) leading SHUSH in both shows (episode "00 Duck" of Ducktales) but that can be interpreted as just a mistake (much like the different versions of Rumpelstilskin or Fairy Godmother in the Shrek Universe; or the different-looking Thanosses in the MCU).
5:20 There's one other reference to humans (or at least to human ancestors) in the show. In the episode Extinct Possibility we learn that intelligent dinosaurs caused the extinction of a group of intelligent primates with the implication that those would have evolved into humans. PS: Well, there's also the episode where Darkwing travels to "our world" but that doesn't count.
I just love how Disney still mishandles "Hot Spells" to this day. Just goes to show they were an evil corporation long before they ruined Star Wars and underpriced their streaming app to drive competition from the market before jacking it up massively.
I loved this TV Show. Crazy thing about this video is the fact that just 2 days ago I was look for this TV show on RU-vid and wondering where to find all this type of TV shows I grew up watching. Shows like this remind me of a time when I didn’t have to worry about bills and had no stress at the time.
My favorite hidden reference was in bushroots origin. There are 2 time head large body scientists making giant food, named dr Gary and dr Larson, referencing the cartoonist of the far side Gary Larson in his distinctive character design
The first two Disney shows broadcasted in Russia on "Walt Disney presents" were Duck Tales and Chip & Dale (1991). Darkwing Duck, Talespin, Pooh, Gummies, etc came in later years.
One of the official Darkwing Duck comic books (the adaptation of "Darkly Dawns the Duck", I think) had an editorial segment written by someone involved in creating the show. They stated that, once he became established as a hero, Darkwing was paid by SHUSH for going on missions as well as for field testing new gadgets they had created. Any job Drake Mallard had was likely just for show, to explain the income he received from the government.
I'm pretty sure the chipmuncks on the TV were the ones from the Donald Duck shorts, rather than the Rescue Rangers. For one thing they didn't wear any clothes, which I don't think ever happened in RR.
It's a bit weird that you'd name Kath Soucie and E.G Daily for thier roll but then just say that Goslyn was voiced by the same voice actor that voiced Chuckie her name was Christine Cavanaugh if any one wanted to know
Give the Narrator some SLACK!!! He obviously mispronounced so many names because he just got through binge watching Darkwing and hadn't slept in three days!!! Also, A REBOOT would be nice!!! :-)
Darkwing duck did not live on the same planet we do in real life. Whatever language they actually speak on his planet would have been translated to english for us to understand. 'Earth' means 'dirt', so it makes sence that they would name their earth-like planet after what it is composed of also, and then that word would be translated to the english word 'earth'.
I'm sure there was another episode that involved humans. Wasn't there an episode where Darkwing was transported to our human dimension because of a device that tapped into viewing Darkwing's world, and therefore some exec created this show based on those images. I recall a fan walking up to DW and asking "Where's Gosalyn?"
Why can't you ppl just enjoy the cartoons without having theories and just assume they dont mean anything more than what is going on in the cartoon? Dark wing Duck was one of the best cartoons ever
I'll never forget the episode where dark wing duck went to a dimension where he learned he was just a tv show an the kids even asked him how he pays his bills lol
All those actors and actresses have appeared in almost every single show released. So many shows shared actors that it’s incredible when you read their resume
Every time that there is a Darkwing Duck video I have to make my own Darkwing Duck opening mantra....*Ahem* "I am the TERROR that FLAPS in the night! I am the rose tint on the nostalgia goggles of justice! I AM DARKWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNGG DUCK!"
Christine Cavanaugh voiced Gosslyn on the show, as well as Chuckie on Rugrats. She passed away 10 years ago. He should have credited her properly instead of just phrasing it like "the same voice for Gosslyn was also the voice of Chuckie."
9:36 That title is a reference to The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy books series, where 42 is said to be the solution to 'life, the universe and everything'.
Launchpad was in both shows. But his gimmick was way different. He always crashd everyhing in Duck Tales. That was a propeller airplane. Darkwing Duck had him fly a jetplane and a motorcycle.
And actually Darkwing duck took place in the same universe as Duck Tails because Launch Pad mentions that he use to work for Scrooge Mcduck as well when gizmo duck / Fenton crackshell mentions that they both worked for Scrooge
I grew up on Darkwing Duck and it makes me really happy seeing people still talking about it today! I just watched the DuckTales reboot, and I got super excited seeing the Darkwing Duck origin story in it. Also if that show's anything to go off of, I guess Drake's job would be acting. Unless he quit once he became DW.
I remember an episode where they gather a team, like the JL. And Negaduck gather a team of evil guys too. They confronted, of course. And in other episode they made a parody about mutants, with a concret pig and a rubber chicken, I think.
Actually there is a fact you missed that I would love to know if it has been added to Disney + or not When DW debuted the 2 part pilot Darkly Dawns the Duck contained several extra scenes throughout both part 1 and part 2....however like many shows specials and even movies once the series started reairing these segments were cut for time constraints or possibly censored (though I think that applies more to episodes of Ducktales MLP and other shows)... When the series finally came to DVD fans discovered these extra scenes were NOT included and the episode was still as cut as it was on TV...which is easy to spot for many other DVD releases since some if not all episodes show the Toon Disney logo in the lower corner...the only was to get the complete pilot is to buy the VHS and since VCRs are no longer being produced this option is quickly growing obsolete So my question since I haven't subscribed and still need time to decide is are the first episodes cut or have they FINALLY given us the ENTIRE episode like many of us saw when the series debuted in the 90's?
That Twin Peaks episode fucked me up. I had no idea it was parodying something so it just felt like a bizarre shift in tone where the music was suddenly slow and eerie and everything suddenly got very un-Darkwing-like. Those cabbage faces gave me nightmares for weeks.
OK, I didn't know 6 of 22. Kinda thanks, I think, but the last one REALLY got me surprised. Darkwing Duck premiered in US at fall of 1991. Soviet Union was dissolved at December, 26 of the same year and communists already weren't in control - since August. So... What Cold War? There was no USSR when DW has been bought for Russian. Also, as a side note, 'Hot Spells' episode was officially broadcasted in Russia at least a few times.
I remember watching Disney Afternoon probably years before Darkwing Duck was on the air. They had this collage of characters from like Tailspin, Rescue Rangers and Duck Tales but Darkwing was there, too. I was like "Who the heck is that guy? Count Duckula?!"
That Twin Beaks reminder brought back some memories!! I had completely forgotten about that but I found it disturbing as a kid. Wow! I thought I was the only one who liked DWD!
i think the origins in the show all work together the when he was a little kid and the high school one do he just forgot about the kid one but remembered it in the back of his mind thats how he put the costume and the name together and the future one he just made the story up for the kids
Some corrections, it’s not “Steelbank” it’s Steelbeak, Negaduck not “Megaduck” and it’s not “Mc Scrooge” it’s Scrooge McDuck. also it’s was normally a 65 original episode run. (not 66) the original DuckTales & Darkwing Duck were extend.
The reason why there are no humans on their earth is because, in canon, the duck-like dinosaurs of the dinosaur age killed off all the primates. I can’t remember what the name of the episode was but it was explained in the episode where Dw goes back in time to the dinosaur age.
