With that much tongue weight, a weight distribution hitch setup is much better than just using the truck suspension to hold the weight.

I don't remember what year, but I think somewhere in the 20-21 range they softened the rear springs a bit to give a better ride. That could be part of the difference. Like you, I wish my overloads touched sooner (even tho as we discussed, mine are much closer than yours)

Got myself a 2019 350 she looks like she sags but the ride is so smooth, im shit ive set it on its bump stops and she still loves it, i think its more of a way to stop people from overweight transport. Nice video

Ive seen a couple of your videos and like the content! I want to point out to you that those add a link chain holders have a capacity to hold about a 1000 lbs of wait you might want to look into a hammer shackle rated 10000 lbs!! If you were to loose your trailer it would be like having a coathanger to hold onto that dumptrailer with those links you have I know ford hitches make it impossible to place youir hooks into tnat rectangular slot and the hammershackles work well Ive got airbags on the back as well as a Helwig big wig rear stabilizer on my 350 srw and those items make it a towing machine!! look forward to seeing more vids

The are rated for 3800 lbs each. You are right though. The shackles are the highest rated.

3/4 - 1 ton trucks have changed drastically between the 60s/70s through the 80s/90s and now the 21st century. The trucks Ford made 50 years ago didn't look like they were struggling with a load like todays trucks. They rode stiff when empty and had little in the way of creature comforts. 3/4 pickups back then had a full floating rear axle. In the late 80s the big three started to offer "light duty" 3/4 ton trucks with the 8 bolt wheels but with a semi-floating axle and lower GVW than a full floater truck. In this day and age the manufacturers are focused more on comfort and less on work. It seems that the 3/4 - 1 ton trucks are aimed at the family that wants to tow a big, yet fairly lightweight, travel camper. This trickles down to the work trucks. The de-rate package probably offers lesser capacity springs than the standard. It would be interesting to compare your springs to a non de-rate equipped truck. Number of leafs, thickness of each leaf, width and length measured to the center of the spring eyes. Your truck must have a lower GVW than a standard equipped truck.

I really kind of regret getting the derate package now. We'll see what happens!

I highly doubt the rear leaf packs are any different on your derated truck. Only difference is the sticker.

The F350 with no load, sits lower than F250 with no load, it’s made that way to provide better clearance for 5th wheels.

Supposedly the f250 tremor has the same rear leaf pack as the f350 tremor, same axle and differential. I would imagine it is the same with a d-rated f350. If this is true I wonder what the payload on your f350 really is, despite what your door sticker says.
