This lecture is was created for use in Thermodynamics for Mechanical Engineers at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
This lecture (1) reviews the basic process we’re developing for analyzing open systems and methods for fixing states; (2) provides an example for how to fix the outlet state of an isentropic process when the working fluid is air and specific heat is assumed to be constant; and (3) gives an introduction to Rankine cycles.
