This video was so good thank you for being my favorite RU-vidr 😢💝 I know we’ve talked soooo much about 23.5 with each other but I can never stress enough that I feel the show would’ve been MUCH LESS boring if Ongsa getting revealed as Earth didn’t happen until much much later in the show.
4:59 I’ve never agreed more and I rarely see this brought up! I would’ve liked to see more of Mawin and Tinh and I felt they had a lot of potential as a side couple so seeing the series end without a change in their relationship was pretty disappointing. I enjoyed watching your video!
omg i totally agree with everything. i had high hopes ESPECIALLY considering bad buddy as an example of what they can do and I was also not expecting some gl version of it, but in terms of storytelling and character development

Particularly with the autistic coded character- it sucks when shows half ass what could potentially be great neurodivergent representation. Hopefully we’ll see some shows that do this better in the future :D Hope to see more videos from you soon!
I dropped this show but oh I was surprised by all the people who loved it. Maybe it is because I know damn well gmmtv could have done better than giving us a highschool gl, going for a school romance type of thing just felt like the “safe choice”. I still will be looking forward for the next gmmtv gls which actually look like they are complex and filled with relatable and realistic characters.
@@miaheartsptg I agree! It was playing it so safe (when somehow they still fucked it up?) i think the reason this turnout was so upsetting is bc we know gmmtv is capable of making great, unique things. When they are set up for success and stick make lazy mistakes it is very dissatisfying.
Just happened upon your video, and it is a well-thought-out and interesting commentary because there are problematic aspects to this GL. High school romance is not really my thing, and I'm only 1/3 of the way through, but I agree entirely with how underdeveloped Sun's character is. Add in that she in no way appears interested in Ongsan besides friendship during the whole Earth thing and what is essentially a case of cat-fishing and the outing (that I'm not up to yet), and I just don't see how there is a basis for a relationship to develop. On the whole, probably because of the age of the characters, I found it slightly less problematic than some aspects of other GL series and it was cute/amusing in places. Who knows, maybe because I am older and have lived through just so much terrible representation I'm just happy to not be overly offended; yes, it's a low bar.

I would be lying If I said there wasn’t quite a few aspects that I enjoyed about it, or else I probably wouldn’t have finished the entire thing lol. it is always a relief to hear that people are enjoying gl because that increases the chances of GL coming out and improving with time.
Just happen to bump into your video, great commentary tho. I like the series but I know there is something lacking about it and you pin point it in this video. I hope that you can make another video on how it should have been in every episode (it's like your pov if you were the director/Writter of the story) . If you know what I mean. I think that GL stories should be enjoyed and not criticized, it was Milklove's first series and I liked it a lot, stop believing yourselves to be scriptwriters of other people's series, I don't like this kind of easy criticism.
@@CitrusGL I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy this video. I can understand that this type of criticism, although not at all easy, isn’t for everyone. When making these types of videos, I don’t expect them to be palatable for every single person who watches the media that I’m talking about. If that was what I was doing, my videos would have little to no substance and my opinions would be watered down in hopes of appeasing an audience that does not care for me in the first place. that would be a waste of everyones time. Although i agree that GL series should be enjoyed, the amount of enjoyment one receives from a show is up to nobody but the makers of the show itself. My critique aims to improve GL going forward to create more enjoyment. In no way did i ever criticize milk or love. They are both actresses whose performances I really enjoy, hence what I said when I gave my reasoning for watching the show. They didn’t write the show. They didn’t direct the show. They did their absolute best and their performances were great. I am criticizing the writers and directors behind this series because people have the capacity to improve, especially when it comes to more serious and impactful things like representation and outing. The only reason we get shows like this in the first place, is because of the critical thinking of other directors and writers before them who have created shows that inspire. The only reason we have a GL or BL that doesn’t fetishizes the people involved is because the original purpose of the GL and BL was criticized, and for the most part has been changed. Criticism is important for any art. 23.5, of course does not go without its praises. Everything that I talked about was my opinion. Yes, most was criticism, but I also talked about its highlights as well as the fact that I stated I stayed for the entire ready of its runtime. Thank you for giving my video a watch even if it ended up not being your cup of tea. I always appreciate the support.
people areeee allowed to give opinions which will help the next gmmtv gl productions, if u dont want 23.5 to be criticized maybe go and watch another video. I absolutely get that gls aren’t appreciated enough but we shouldn’t settle for the bare minimum when it comes to media with our representation. As a lesbian myself I was excited for 23.5 only to be disappointed by the way the plot went and thats totally fine!! I am not a screenwriter, im a lesbian that wasted their time watching a show that i thought was going to change the way gls are made.
