i'm usually a silent watcher but just wanted to say that i'm so glad i found your channel this year! you've become one of my fav youtubers and seeing you upload gets me so hyped 🫶🏼🎉
Since I’ve found your channel just a few months ago, I have a huge list of books to buy. I keep pen and paper next to me when watching your videos. Thanks for sharing. Have a beautiful New Year’s!
You inspire me to get out of my comfort zone when it comes to reading! I will definitely pick up Mother Night and The Stranger. I mostly read horror, but one of my goals this year was to read non-fiction, so I'll check out The Wager as well, lol. Happy New Year's to you! Love your channel! 👻
The Wager is amazing, great pick! I'm a former sailor who studies history so it was right up my alley, but I'm really happy that you liked it too, it's such a wild story and time period
Shot in the dark and I don't know how "cozy" they are, but have you read any Janet Evanovich? Specifically, her Stephanie Plum series. The main character finds herself sortof stumbling into the world of bounty hunters - and they're hilarious. I think there's a million books, I've only read up to about 8. But, I loved them.
I think you're absolutely adorable when you saying something slightly off. I also love the fact you're a fan of Chuck Palahniuks. Just let you know all your hard work is noticed.
on My 2024 Reading Challenge there are a few Cozy mystery lol I just finished one by Diane Kelly lol I wouldn't have even know about her and her books if i didn't hear about it else where.
6:45 I read and reread Boys from Brazil by Ira Levin multiple times in past years and loved it back then until my mass paperback is totally tattered😅 I haven't read it in years but I would still recommend it today.
You have no idea how pleased I am that you mentioned a cozy mystery series/author! I have wanted to try reading them for your exact experience 😊, but desperately wanted a recommendation (from someone relatable). THANK YOU 💜
22:31 It changed a lot for me too!! I realized my tolerance for deeper horror concepts than I knew I could handle and made me appreciate this horror sub genre so much more!!
Amazing list :) I loved The Shards, too. Definitely one of the best books I read this year. Bret Easton Ellis did previously write a horror novel called Lunar Park - I'd argue it's more "traditionally" horror than any of his other books - and it's incredible.
Ira Levin... I enjoy his writing... I may pick up "This Perfect Day" but if you want to have your day ruined read the sequel to "Rosemary's Baby", "Son of Rosemary". SOOOOOOOOO great... until the ending.
Here's one for you. roger waters depiction OF DIFFERENT PEOPLE IN THE PERCEIVED ROLE OF ANIMALS IN PINK FLOYD'S ALBUM ANIMALS. THIS ONE IS ABOUT AN UPRISING OF SICK AND TIRED OF THE WAY SHEEP. LAST VERSE. Bleating and babbling we fell on his neck with a scream Wave upon wave of demented avengers March cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream
Awesome ranking! I love the way you separate the books in terms of star ratings. I enjoyed Tender Is The Flesh but was four star for me. As interesting, thought provoking and brilliant as it was, it just lacked entertainment value for me. I have heard so much about Black Mouth, it is on my tbr! Come With Me sounds incredible! My favorite book of the year is The Terror by Dan Simmons!
I listened to 'Cabin' while at work and...I thought it was okay? Definitely not here to yuck your yum though, and you've got me wondering if I'd have enjoyed it more on page. I have got a Darcy Coates waiting on my kindle though, so fair to say you have an influence 😅
As a fellow admirer of Kurt Vonnegut I wholeheartedly agree with you about Mother Night but for me The Sirens Of Titan is his crowning achievement (and that includes Slaughterhouse 5). Sirens was acknowledged by Douglas Adams as a major influence on his Hitchhiker's Guide series of novels and is by turns laugh out loud hilarious and deeply moving. Thanks - as ever - for all the wonderful vids and recommendations.
I love these lists! Thank you Anda! Out of interest, have you read Johnny Got His Gun? I'm absolutely not a war story kind of person but that one absolutely destroyed me. Long time fan!!
You had me at whisper man. I loved that book! I plan on reading more of Alex north next year. I just finished Hidden pictures and… well that blew my mind loved it, can’t stop thinking about it. Now I’m reading cotton candy massacre part toots. Haha the other really makes you think you are watching a fun 80’s horror movie.
I picked up Black Mouth after your video a while back and it definitely became one of my favorites. Another book that became my all time favorite is Summer of Night by Dan Simmons. I loved the emotion both books portray about grief, friendships, and fear. There’s just so much to unpack in both. Anyway, happy new year! And can’t wait to read/ watch more videos
