Are you considering switching to a 32 bit recorder but not sure if it's worth it? As someone who has been using the Zoom F6 for over a year, I can confidently say that the 32 bit float is a game-changer. In this video, I compare 24 bit vs 32 bit recording in a real-life situation with loud vocals and lots of noise.
You'll see the difference between distorted audio and crystal-clear sound captured with 32 bit. Plus, I'll showcase how 32 bit recording can uncover hidden sounds that would be lost with lower bit depth. Don't miss this eye-opening demonstration!

Thanks for the post! For anyone who hasn’t tested for themselves, or maybe doesn’t have a 32 bit rig yet - this gives a real world example to think about.

Great video and explanation! I always use 32 Bit floating point when I am outside. So many unpredictable variables.

Thanks for another video. I have been taking a photo for last 8 years and I started making video for about a month ago. During that time, I found the importance of sound in video and I watched lots of your video. I just enjoyed without any knowledge of sound. when you talked about 32 bit and 24bit before, I had no idea. I feel like I know the difference now. It was really fun and nice video again. (I bought zoom h5 after watched your video.)

I have on order a Zoom F6, primarily based on seeing it in many of your videos and included in that same order is the Rode Ambisonic mic - they seem to pair well together. I truly do enjoy your videos and I do learn a lot from you, Thanks so much!

I remember when I first discovered 32bit after struggling with adjusting levels in a very dynamic evnironment with high impacts sounds, and it was like a very enlightning lightbulb went off lol

I have also been using the F6 for about the same time, producing radio documentaries and on location multi microphone recordings.

Hey Marcel, are you using the F6 to power your Use Pro or some kinda external source? Are you able to assign phantom power on the F6 to individual channels for recording with different mics with different power needs? 🙂🙏🏼

Awesome guys! I really appreciate your passion and dedication for the sonic arts! I'm definitely getting the F6 soon. Just waiting on suppliers. First thing I'll do is activate the 32 bit float feature. One question I'm curious to get your opinion on. Do you record in 48kHz or 96kHz? I normally record voice (documentaries etc) at 48k but my last project I have been recording wildlife. The request from post is that I record everything in 96kHz. Would you recommend I use 96k from now on? Thanks and keep up the good work! Sebastian

Another great video, I feel like whatever type of sound recording you do 32bit beats 24bit!

Can you transfer the 24 bit signal line out to the camera video file and in the meantime get the 32 bit and replace it in post in case the 24 bit is clipping?

Love the test and video, how does 32bit handle direct input? Thanks
@tomdemojo45
Great inroduction/ explanation/ overview to 32bit audio. I dont really see a downside here. From a recording and processing perspective it seems like it's a clear win. If file size is an issue at the user - end it can of course be exported to 24bit after processing. Thanks a lot :)

I think 32bit is useful for bedroom studio, because most time we struggled with noisy recordings. I know so many pro engineers think that 24bit is enough. This video has revealed the misleading information I have believed over years. I have actually struggled getting a clean recording with my 24bit audio interface. This video is a game changer for me. I am looking forward to updating my audio interface to the new Zoom UAC-232 USB 2.0 Audio Interface. Thanks for this video, much respect to you..🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
