In front of some folks, demonstrating that you can read might be considered showing off and a man keeping a diary might be considered feminine which also seems to be hugely offensive to some folks. Like in Outback Queensland or regional South Australia.
I just started this playing this game. What good does honor give you for spearing victims. I saw that message on screen after I killed the train passengers. I like to kill my enemies friends so nothing comes back to me but now the game mentions something about honor what's that beneficial for?
It's crazy, I always think about my great grandfather, who lived 1905-1999. He saw SO much change, it makes me wonder what I'll encounter in my own lifetime.
"still alive" = shitting your pants and drooling on yourself not knowing anything (including your loved ones faces) *just because your brain works good now doesn't mean it always will*
A good tip is iff u are searching any house or camp u shoud always look in the chimney or under all the waggons u may find a gold nugget in the chimney and a hidden chest under a waggon👍👍
Tip: During story missions,if you are riding with someone, you can press x and hold it,you wouldn’t need to steer Also when shooting on your horse, put the movement joystick towards the direction you are going to but face back wards, most of the time your horse should follow whatever trail your on so you can shoot During a fist fight, hold square for ps4 ,idk what to hold for Xbox but it is the block/dodge button, you will automatically dodge or block attacks and you can follow up with a punch or a grapple Always keep winter clothing on your horse because sometimes you unknowingly travel to a place which is cold Remember to brush your horse,I’m not sure about this but you should spam the brush button until your horse is clean, for me it is nearly around one minute of brushing You characters weight has an affect on your speed and health You can level up deadeye by a special drink, valerian root I think, headshots without deadeye and camp chores You can level up health by getting shot at,using throwable and stealth kills You can level up stamina by sprinting ,it’s the easiest to level up as you run all the time You can increase horse bonding by patting it every few moments while riding, feeding or brushing it When a store closes, there is a glitch which you can go through doors,I’m not gonna say because I don’t want others hard work to be wasted but it involves a lantern, then you can go into the shop you want after it closes and take anything inside for free without theft,I’m not sure how you get out though You can draw you gun anytime you want by holding the trigger button slightly ,don’t press all the way,you should see the draw gauge filling up on your screen and you will go into deadeye,it’s useful when you know you are going into a fight or getting robbed You can run to cover or dodge ,to run to cover ,sprinting and press the dodge button before you reach the cover ,your character will slide towards the cover, while aiming ,if you press square, you will roll or dive onto the ground Use crafting often,it can do a lot of stuff Trinkets are quite helpful, most are from legendary animals While hunting legendary animals, just use eagle eye and see the next clue, run towards it and keep doing until near the 4th clue or 3rd clue, that should be when you spot the animal, don’t worry about poor pelt or perfect pelt, you get the same pelt if you kill it with a head shot with a rifle or putting 32 bullets into the animals head Fire bottles can set wagons on fire Good honour is useful as you get discounts in store Lastly,go to your menu, there are a lot of helpful tips there I’m sure most of you know this tips,I’m a new player too, some of this might not be true but I’m new,I just learnt it from my Friend
Thanks homie even tho I knew most of that still helpful I didnt know I could just hold square to block in a fist fight thought I had to hit it just b 4 I'm about to b hit
Thank you! Some of this was stated in the vid...which leads ne to believe your just like hunting? Still good advice! Minus holding direction and turning backwards to shoot, I think you need to turn off camera follow for this to work?
Yo I really need so e help with this considering there isnt anything out there explaining this problem, I'm playing as John right now and I'm trying to tuck my pants Into my boots but he wears this weird tie thing over them and I cant take it off, anyone have a fix for this?
They're honestly just basic function that the game teaches you. I'm halfway through the story and know all this stuff so I'd say it applies to new players. To be the fair the title doesn't imply that they're special, just essential.
Another great tip/exploit is iff someone pickpockets u run after him/her takle the person then threathen take ur money back after that kill them and u will get the same amount of money that they took from u. Guy took 600$ from me did this and got total of 1200$ back.
No one ever mentions to carry an extra outfit on your horse so you can change it based off the weather, also when hunting catch a wild horse to ride and just whistle for your main horse and it will continually follow you while you ride the other which gives you space to carry two large animal carcasses and also two small animals like a rabbit or snake on either side of your main horse with a saddle and also pretty much unlimited pelts like wolf pelts that you just lay across the back of the horse like a blanket , those stack and can be carried on either a saddled or unsaddled horse even with a large animal body like a buck on it as well
I've also been using the 2nd outfit pretty often since it seems to keep me from being identified when doing criminal activities, I just get out of the zone then change clothes and no one seems to bother me + no bounty on my head
I just started hunting like this today and it is awesome. I ran into the idea today by dumb luck - I was on a bounty mission, was attacked by a couple of wolves before reaching the bounty, stuck one on my horse with the pelts then picked up another carcass with the bounty's horse on the way back into town. I started hunting with the two horses after the bounty and was able to rack up a lot of skins and carcasses for the trapper after a couple of hours. I sold the bounty horse when I had to jump off making a little drinking money. Definitely the only way to hunt!
Also one other thing I found out, I don't know how common it is but when you are holding a revolver up on your right hand only and when you double tap L1, Arthur spins the revolver briefly and holsters it. Upvote so everyone can feel edgy after killing someone haha
I got my horse dead because i stopped at train rails and went to post office to pay bounty and train arrived and that stupid horse didnt even try to run
Well that’s not happened with me but my horse has physically gotten stuck inside of a train before (like it’s head sort of moulded with the wall). Quite strange I must say
HORSE REVIVER IS KEY. In my first few hours of the game i faceplanted on some traintracks with my horse and it died. Never felt such emotional pain from a game before.
Same, I had just bought Donkey Bones a few hours before he died. I tried to steal a horse to buy the reviver but they ran away as soon as I killed the owner😭
I got a tip for you all which I haven't really seen in any videos yet. It's a really good one. If you ride around and see a body on your mini map in form of an X symbol, go over to inspect it. You probably think it's just a random body with 1 dollar and some whiskey. But I found that the case is that these are special corpses that has a story to them. Twice I found a butchered corpse with a piece of a map in it's mouth. Another time there was a seemingly dead corpse on the beach. Upon approaching the corpse, he grabbed for me and gave me a note, before dying. I don't remember what the note was, but I'm fairly sure it's a note that will lead you towards something. Most people probably think it's just the corpse of one npc after a conflict with another npc. And sometimes that might be the case. But it's worth checking out!
Dvex funny u say that. With the map there are three pieces - one near strawberry (I think idk), one next to Braithwaite major, and one near citadel rock: get them all and go to the giant basement doors at lucky’s cabin (near valentine). Go inside and an interest secret awaits Also yeah the dying dude’s letter is a nod to bonnie McFarlane from the first red dead
Also, early on, get the Springfield Rifle and Express bullets. One shot to the dome of large game animals, perfect pelt every time. And when fighting legendary animals, use Dead Eye with a gun that has multiple bullets. Fire them all and don't worry about where they land. No matter how ugly the kill, legendary pelts don't degrade.
As far as I'm aware, that's not how pelt ranking works, though. Each animal you can hunt (bar horses, for some reason) have a star ranking of one to three. Star one means poor pelts, star two means good pelts and star three means perfect pelts.
@@PureBlackWolf no offense, but perhaps you missed how i meant it. With regular large game animals, Springfield headshot = no damage to the pelt so you get a perfect pelt. Insofar as legendary animals, you need only kill the animal and you get a legendary pelt. So you can dead eye fire until the animal is swiss cheese, you're still getting a legendary pelt. Pelts you get from legendaries don't degrade down to Good or Poor if you don't get a headshot. Just regular animals. My fault if i wasn't more concise.
@@RedceLL1978 Ah, no, not to worry. I understood what you meant, but was confused about your terminology, because a 'perfect pelt' in-game is a pelt coming from a three-star animal, but you simply meant perfect as a pelt with very little damage to it, thus raising the price.
@@juandbotero7 THAT I am not entirely sure on. All I know is that 'bad', 'good' and 'perfect' directly correlate to the amount of stars an animal has. You can find these stars in the lower right when looking at an animal through your binoculars, pretty sure it also works with weapons when aiming. The weapon USED to kill the animal determines the 'condition' i.e. barely damaged or heavily damaged, which correlates to the price you get for the pelt. Now, take what I say with a grain of salt and PLEASE test it for yourself, I'm just telling you what I know.
HaHaHa...Funny if someone could actually get a selfie with that in the background...Tip 12 isn't accurate bcse I upgraded my camp and was able to fast travel long before the first 20hrs was up or passed
A good quick way to earn alot of money early on in the game is to steal and sell wagons. I think you unlock the wagon seller in chapter 2, but once you do you can go around close to emerald ranch with a bandana on and hijack people's wagons and go to the wagon seller guy and sell the stolen wagons. You get 25 or 40 dollars per wagon depending on the condition of the wagon and it's a quick way to farm lots of money early on.
Found 2 treasure maps in chapter 2 netted me $2500 And only steal wagons from other bandits and gun runners. Have over 5200 now you can live comfortably without being total a hole. And set up ambushes for the bounty hunters. I like ravines and dynamite.
You can get one of the best horses in the game extremely early on and it makes any sort of chasing mission several times easier. You can get a White Arabian horse which has 8 speed, stamina, health, and acceleration. He can be tamed in the northern section of the map on the west side of a particular lake, near where the legendary bison spawns.
@@LgLegion Well there was other 3 guys on the table, the chance of somebody having a better hand than yours... in my opinion is big, but I wouldn't go because 9 and 2 is a weak hand and you should never expect the flop to go your way, but you're right, it's cents, just to have fun, I just found funny that he was talking about learning poker and showing that kind of hand ;)
What’s even more impressive is the fact that there is always different numbers of people playing at a poker table at a time,Hell once I found a full table.Literally played poker for three hours trying to get my money back
@@jtommagic4516 Playing HUD-free adds to the immersion, it's available by pressing down anyway. Always more fun to not pinpoint your enemies' location and/or constantly looking down in the lower-right corner.

thats funny as hell! i can read but i often rush things in games so a lot of these tips will come in handy for me. when your gaming is limited to a few hrs a week at least until the wkends cause of so much damn work its easy to lose sight of all the handy dandys i reckon is easier for all the major gamers out there. my point is this is way too long so ill stop typing my slow death away. thanks for the laugh! an old man needs that through mid day of a hard days work when hes watching youtube on his lunch!
Fuck the smoking is cool. I honestly wish they let you sit for a minute and just enjoy the smoke lol. Forget the action i wanna sit there and watch my character smoke that big cigar lol.
I accidentally killed my horse last night and hated life. Not only did I feel terrible but I was in the mountains and had to carry my saddle all the way to the next town. Which took 20 minutes. As soon as I got my next horse I purchased all the horse revive I could. Suggest you do the same.
Luckilly ive only killed one horse and it was those damn pinkermans fault! He moved behind my horses head and I pulled the trigger on the bolt action with Express rounds....RIP now I carry 1 horse revive just in case!
Quagmire71006 I have done that same thing! Right in the middle of a gun fight. Luckily I had some horse revive. Unfortunately I have killed a couple of horses. My most recent was an accidental drowning. Doh!
Bought this game in April, and I still haven’t made any Story progress, this game is addictive fun just running around and hunting. 11/10 super good game
When I was playing, my horse had a deer on it but I also wanted to go after a bounty. I caught the bounty and still wanted to keep the deer. So I found out that my main horse does a really good job at following you if you are on another. More hunting storage among other things will be quite nice.
If any dies around you bad guy innocent or some random in counter who dies in their own.. be aware any passing NPC will assume you murdered them and will flee to report it.
@somekindofmonster7 somehow after reading comments all day..and getting used to the English language which isn't first made me read it correctly lol, I didnt notice that it was TERRIBLE grammar before i saw ur reply.
I underestimated this game. What a immersive and epic adventure I’ve been having ! It’s been awhile since I’ve lost track of time and had the whole day pass me by. I FRICKEN 😍 it!!! Thank you Rockstar
At first but once you've seen it more than a hundred times a train or a coach is good to relax. Plus travelling in rdr has never been relaxing. You always have to have your wits about you. Which strains your eyes...which in turn makes you stop playing...which is then sad
When returning with a kill on your horse, you don’t need to pull it down and carry it to the butcher. Leave it on your horse and go speak to the butcher, it will then appear for donation. This was really unclear to me when I first tried this.
You can travel in cinematic mode at full speed if you time the cinematic view with your sprint right. As it goes into cinematic mode you have to let go during full sprint and you’ll full sprint, your horse will not get exhausted and knock you off too which is a double plus.
My war horse is called Big Don, my black thoroughbred is called The Reverend to match with Dutch's The Count. This game is just unbelievable. Every tiny detail is accounted for, the creaky floorboards, the wallpaper, even down to the tracks left by carriage wheels dirt, the smallest details visually and in audio are magnificent. I feel like I have barely scratched the surface and will have a lot more to do for years to come!
First tip must be: patient with the installation process of the damm game hahaha. I’m loving it so far, it is like playing Tarantino’s hateful eight. The beginning of the game and the music is quite similar. It’s amazing
*More tips:* • you can refill all of Arthur’s stats (including dead eye) by cooking and eating animals, a rabbit or a deer should be enough • you can refill all of your horse’s stats by looking for wild plants and roots such as ginseng or wild carrot, activate eagle eye to find the little sparkles near the ground when you walk around I hope this helps so that you don’t have to spend valuable money on buying food for you and the horse With this tip in mind, you should be able to Bear Grylls your way through any environment without spending a single cent
Bounty tip: When you have a big bounty (i had 300$ yesterday). Spend ALL your money on upgrades, then let yourself be captured by a lawman and surrender yourself in that country. Do a small time in jail & you'll be free of bounty. They also take all your money (hence buy the upgrades)
@@gabrieljones7642 Go back to that town, commit a small crime like starting a fist fight. Don't do a serious crime like killing someone. Wait for a lawmen to approach you, focus on them when they're close and you'll have an option to surrender.
@@S7StudioElfPaladin thanks man, this comment alone was 100% more helpful than this video. This guy only tells you things you learn about in the early stages of the game. There's been no real indication how to deal with bounties and wanted levels. I tried to rob a train with my mask on, waited for it to get to the country side and then next thing I knew I had a $200 bounty because the train stopped and picked up lawmen in the middle of nowhere.
Solid tip m8, also beside wearing the bandana, when committing crimes by shooting it's good to use a different gun than your usual one, apparently that can make you recognizable as well, different guns will help you avoid bounties altogether!
If you go hunting, use two horses, steal or break a new one, ride that one ans have your main horse follow you. You can increase your hunt intake by using both. Load up your satchel, then both horses with animals, believe me, its worth it. Also i go out a lil bit, and hunt on my way back to camp, to keep meat fresher
I punched my horse by accident trying to pet him and he was clearly upset I did that and kept turning away from me 😭😭😂 sorry bud, I overly fed him shortly after.
One time a bar fight spilled outside, I accidentally punched a horse, and it turned to kick me but kicked the guy I was fighting instead and killed him
I did the same damn thing when I first started playing hahahaha gave him a good right hook to the snout 😅😂😂 that was certainly a dick move on my part lol
@@skunk9768 If you really think about it, why is it an insult? It's just to draw more gullible viewers in. And if they're drawing them into a well-made video, i don't see the problem.
I never pay my bounties...makes me feel like an actual outlaw, and I like the hunt, sometimes I'm riding around just enjoying the scenery, and them boom, I notice sum red on my map and I see 4 or 5 bounty hunters, and I want to fight them imidieatly, "to make and example of how not to come after me" lol I kill em and leave the last one alive, I shoot his gun out of his hand and hogtie him..drag him to somewhere random, or if I'm.near a town, I drag him near the entrance where the sign is..and when I untie him..i stab him couple of times, executing is too fast..stabbing like 2 or 3 times is perfect to make you feel like someone truly who like to kill the people that try to kill you. I am not insane I swear. But if I see like 8 hunters and 2 law dogs..I try to run, also makes you feel like you're on a run, like an outlaw!
I'm so amazed at the advances in gaming I've seen in my life. I can remember playing SNES when I was 4 (I'm 33 now), when I was around 13 and playing the first halo game I thought wow this is it! Now games can be compared to a movie that you can play just judging by the graphics quality. Still haven't tried VR but that looks awesome as well. Nevertheless. The depth of game play I've seen and the progress of every aspect of gaming. I'll never stop playing games.....
As a 30 year old, I definitely relate. My aunt had the first PlayStation with Crash Bandicoot and Spyro. My uncle had a friend who let him borrow his N64 with Goldeneye and his PlayStation with Twisted Metal, which I got to jam on when I was at my grandma’s. He also lent his PS2 with Vice City…that was a literal game changer for me. One day, my dad surprised me with my very own PS1 and a copy of Driver 2. A couple years passed and I bought a PS2 and San Andreas. These games and consoles will always be special memories of childhood.
So true, fellow early 90s kid here and the progression of games has been crazy, also because of the overall ongoing fanbase of each generation's consoles
Tip for getting on the train is look for the look out points along the tracks to jump. Also drive the train to open up the fog on the map works pretty well.
He changes all the time. I called my horse Sadie (weirdly we met a Sadie (adler)) as he was saying good girl. But now he says good boy lol. However the real funny thing is, it was on the shopping mission with Sadie adler lol
thanks, I did realize that you cant draw more than one of your own horses at a time, so you need to tame or steal one and have your other horse follow it.
while the game does flash a bunch of helpful tips during the game, they disappear too quickly in a matter of seconds and there is no log to review them. sometimes these tips quickly flash in the middle of action and you do not always have time to focus on both and read the entire tip. But GTA has always had the same issue.
Tip 25 - Hitch your horse when visiting the post office in Valentine, don't jump off while the horse is on the train track... I came back out and seen the train flying towards it, I whistled but it was too late 😭
You can just tell your horse to stay... get him in a place away from the tracks and tell him to stay. Why do people even consider leaving their horse on the tracks? I mean, common sense
Clicking L3, while on your horse, will restore a bit of it's stamina. At level 4 bonding you'll pretty much never run out of stamina while on your horse.
if youre addicted to nicotine and you havent smoked i n a while, your hands will be shaky and all soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Hold the horse whistle command to order your horse to follow you, tap it once to order the horse to come to you and tap it twice quickly and the horse will come to you faster.
One thing you missed about the horse is you can always retrieve the lost horse at the stables for a small fee. This is useful if you lose the horse after a mission.
@@kingmerck1538 I don't know what kind of map you've got sir. Do tell. Because when I lose my hat I know it's demons messing with me. If you have some sort of hat GPS or demon be gone powder I would like to know. A horse would be nice too if you had one.
@@kingmerck1538 like Google maps? I don't use that chi Com globalist horse pucky.. I'm just going to have to buy a new hat.. thanks for your help anyways.. Costco has the best belts.. imma try there..
I also read that shooting in the air persuades some people to talk when you want them to.. haven't tried it yet but we'll see how it works. Thanks for the tips!
Telepathic hearing?...that kinda defeats the purpose lol just being telepathic would be enough then you don't have to whistle...you just call him...with your mind.
The Futures Now When you set up camp near Valentine, the cook looks mighty sickly. He’s coughing and shivering while cooking a meal. I thought at that point it would be a great prelude for a possible future “infectious outbreak” storyline. Anyone else notice him?
11:02 I was just messing with it and found this out a little while ago. It also effectively doubles the amount of ammo that you can carry since it cost nothing to make except ammo
Springfield rifle is amazing early game, it will almost always 1 shot people and is not too bad on the reload, picking up this gun as soon as possible is a game changer if you don't want to worry about landing headshots or relying on deadeye
Also id like to add that if you end up with a legendary fish stuck in water and not retrieveable just grab dynamite and throw a few sticks above the fish, it'll rise to the surface and you can push it to the shore by swimming over it.
If u hold the trigger button like you do in stand offs. If you do that at any time it enters a similar state so u can quickly eliminate targets before to fight starts, it's pretty handy. Try it while your just walking around, also you need to have right side revolver either holstered or in hand
And try to do chores around camp each time you come back to it. Each chore will give you +5 dead eye experience. They are marked around camp with a little black dot on your minimap. I learned this by accident but it would have been vital early on in the game.
